My Life Started After High School - 2. Another Year - It's My Life

Aidyn heads off to school and meets his new roommate. Noah gets ready for a year without Aidyn around. And Greyson gets new Neighbors!?

Aidyn's POV

This morning was when I said goodbye to my parents. I'm not going to lie; it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. It's more than saying goodbye to your parents. If you've lived your entire life in a house, it's your home. Not an easy thing for me to leave.

I did it, though. With my car packed as much as I could. I had to leave plenty of stuff at home. Mom took it as an insurance policy that I'll come home. There is going to be something I've forgotten there, and it's going to be important, I know it.

To say I didn't cry though would be a lie. I basically said bye to the young me. Adult stuff is now my life... it sucks. AND I'm not even done doing school stuff. I got who knows how many more years of learning.

“Hey my name is Aidyn Scott, I just need the key to my room,” I told the clerk at the dorms front desk.

“One moment.” She looked at her screen while typing stuff in. “You'll be in room 211, with a Mr. Nathan Reynolds. I'll grab your key.” It was only a matter of moments before she handed me my key.

“Thank you!”

“No problem, enjoy yourself. Nathan should already have his stuff up there.” Awesome, so my roommate is already here. Maybe I could convince him to help me move my stuff. “Oh, your room is on the second floor to the right from the elevator!” She called out as the elevator closed.

Second floor... to the right, not horribly far from the elevator. I looked at my watch; 10:54 am is what it read. Man, I left early this morning. Good thing my orientation is tomorrow.

I opened the door to the room, and there was who I assumed to be Nathan, on the couch in just PJ bottoms and a pair of headphones. He had a bowl of cereal in his hands. He didn't seem too surprised to see me either.

He looked pretty cute to be honest. His brown hair was up in a mess around his head. The guy's got a pretty smooth chest too. Nothing too built up but smooth nonetheless. Those eyes have got to be his dominant feature, though. Blood red eyes staring at me in wonder.

“Hi, I'm Aidyn, you must be Nathan.”

He smiled and raised his bowl. “That's me, welcome to college life!” He took another bite before continuing the conversation. “You must have a lot of stuff to get up here. Why don't I get dressed, meet you down there and I'll help you bring it in.”

Didn't even need to do any convincing, sweet. “Ya that would be nice. Which room is mine?” Looked towards the two rooms, one on each side of the living quarters.

“I kind of claimed the one on the left already.” He shrugged.

“That's fine; you got here first, only fair.” I went into my room and dropped off the bags I brought in. The room was spacious enough for most of my things; at least I think it is. “So I was thinking of getting all my stuff up here...”

When I walked out of the room back into the living area, I see a kid in his boxers. His black hair still wet from a shower that he must have just exited. The towel still around his neck. The kid's red eyes were wide as can be, scared that he has been caught.

“Umm... Nathan...” The kid looked between Nathan and I. “I thought you said no one was here?”

“He just got in while you were in the shower.” Nathan sighed. “Aidyn this is my cousin, step-cousin to be exact. His mom married my uncle.”

“Pretty sure I read in the dorms rule book that you can't have uninvited guests?” I raised my eyebrows at him.

“Carter get dressed.” Nathan pointed him off to his room. Carter nodded and rushed into the room. “Aidyn things are complicated for Carter. I get it; it's against the rules but for Carter I have to. Please just leave it alone.”

Carter came out of his room in ragged clothes. They were beyond dirty and torn in various places. The backpack he had on was probably in the best condition out of anything. The kid looked broken, afraid.

“I'm sorry Aidyn; I didn't mean to get Nathan into trouble. I just... needed an escape.” Carter looked at the ground. “I'll do anything not to get Nathan into trouble.” The way he said it... he was really implying that he'd do ANYTHING?

“It's fine Carter. If you need an escape, I won't stop you from coming here.” I gave him a little smile. “Be good, okay?”

He nodded. “Thanks. I... I have got to get going, though. Nice meeting you Aidyn.” And like that he was rushing out the door. I hope he's not in any real danger. I would hate for that kid to have such a bad life so early.

“Why aren't you reporting me to the dorm staff?” Nathan asked me.

To be honest with myself, I don't know for sure. “It's obvious that he was in need of a night out of whatever he calls a life. Let's just make a habit of him staying the night without people knowing.”

“Okay... I guess I owe you big then, and I just met you.” Nathan scratched the back of his head. “I should get dressed and give you a hand. I'll be one sec.” School hasn't even started, and it's already interesting.

Noah's POV

Aidyn and Aaron went off to college, and I'm stuck in high school. I would hang out with Aaron and Aidyn, and all their friends were in their grade or higher, so now for the first time in a long time, I feel alone.

Even as Student body president and having the entire student council asking you questions it's different. I had people I could just go up to and be accepted by. Now it feels like those people are gone. I have got to find a new group of friends, I guess.

“Mr. President!” Cairo came up the hallway at top walking speed. Cairo was a grade 8 who was greatly interested in student council. I met him last year when he was shown around the school, with me as his guide.

I giggled at the thought of me being president. “You can call me Noah, Cairo.”

“Oh... I can try that, Noah.” He giggled as he said my name. Cairo is a special kind of kid. He's got one emerald eye, and the other is blood red. His nearly white, blonde hair is astonishing and then his energy. Man if he shared his energy with the world, we might get somewhere in life. “Anyways, I was wondering, since you showed me around last time if you would show me around again. The school looks very different than I remember.”

“Of course, I think I'm even assigned to your homeroom. I got to get going if it turns out I'm not what homeroom are you?”

“809!” Cairo jolted off down the hallway in the opposite direction as me. Seriously, I have no idea how anyone keeps up with that kid.

Back to what I was thinking about. Since grade 9 I've hung out with Aidyn, and didn't really hang out with anyone else. Even back then I mostly kept to myself. The only other person I hung out with really was my friend Ashton.

Ashton was my best friend growing up. We'd do everything together. He would always put himself in danger and hurt himself, even after I warn him. His mom would just shake her head and get him to the hospital. Then when he had a cast on Ashton would still do stupid shit. That was Ashton though.

He was also the first kid I experimented with. We didn't do much, just jacked off each other. He wasn't into doing much. That happened at the end of Grade 8, which was kind of the start of the fallout of our friendship.

“What's going on in your head?” Sky knocked me out of my trance. “The beast has awakened!”

I just rolled my eyes. “Seriously Sky? I just have a lot on my mind, being the first day of school and all.”

“Ya, I guess. Anyways I just had to deliver this to you; it's from Aidyn.” Sky handed me a note and was then lost in the crowd. Awww, Aidyn you're so cute.

I opened the note up and couldn't help but smile.

Good luck at school, I'm here whenever you need me.

Love, Aidyn

Damn, why does he have to be so great?

All of a sudden the note was snatched out of my hands. “Awww, a message from your boyfriend?”

I glared at the guy who took it. “Give it back Kayde.” Kayde was also an old friend. He was the person I did most of my experimenting with. He came out shortly after Aidyn did. One thing he's got to have is to be the talk of the school.

Kayde has pretty dark hair, and it's usually slicked to the side. His glasses cover his brown eyes, and he's almost always in a dress shirt with a tie. Seriously, I don't want to know how many ties this kid has. He's got to have one for every day of the year, or more.

“But I want to see what your ditchy boyfriend wanted to say to you.” He looked at the note and laughed, not like a giggle, but a forced laugh. “Awww, it's so cute.”

"Just give it back Kayde!” I stuck out my hand. He rolled his eyes and handed it back. “Thank you.”

I turned to walk away, but he spoke up again. “Aren't you wondering what I want?”

“Not particularly in what Kayde Virtue wants.”

“Well Noah Wesley, the answer is pretty clear, I want you.” I couldn't help but laugh when he said it. What? HE wants me? “Well listen here, Noah. Aidyn is gone off to school now, what do you have for sexual release now?”

“I'm just fine thanks; I don't need you.”

“Sure ya do, when was the last time you turned down Aidyn for sex?”

I turned around, angry. “Kayde, That's enough. Aidyn and I are still together, and I don't plan on cheating on him! Especially someone as narcissistic as you. Now I need to get to the Student Council room, good-bye!” And I marched off from him.

Seriously, who does he think he is? Aidyn's been gone for less than a day, and he's already hitting on me? Fuck, leave me be Kayde. I don't need your drama in my life.

Greyson's POV

I don't go to the first day of school often. It's just homeroom and then home. Mom and dad let me stay home, and I love it. I get to do what I like and just chill out.

Currently, I'm sitting outside listening to the neighbors. One was doing yard work from the sounds of it. Another was washing his car and leaving his hose on. The most interesting one was the one that sounded like things were moving out of a truck into a house. A lot of things.

“Mom!” I called into the house. Mom left a window open for me.

I heard her heels come close. “Yes, Greyson?”

“What's going on over there?” I pointed towards the noise.

“Oh, the new neighbors are finally moving in today. Why don't we go over and say hello? Maybe we can offer them something to drink. They look busy moving everything into the house.” That's mom, always wanting to help out where she can.

“Sure mom. I'm sure they would love that.”

“I'll be right out then.” She went back to the kitchen, probably to get the drinks ready.

From the house, I heard what sounded like a young boy. “It's too heavy for me.” and then a loudish thud. “Sorry, sorry, sorry!” The same voice panicked.

“Seriously Abel!?” That didn't sound like a father tone... Older brother?

Our front door opened up. “Let's go Greyson!” I got up and followed mom's footsteps over to the neighbors. “Hello boys, are your parents home?”

“Sure, one second. I'll go get them.” The older boy replied. “Abel try and clean up the mess, please.” Abel remained silent, but I could hear something shuffling around.

“My name is Greyson, your Abel?” I stuck out my hand towards where I thought he was.

“I'm over here...” The voice was much more to my right. I could feel my face heat up in a blush. “And ya...”

“Sorry, I'm blind, so I thought you were by the rustling.”

I heard someone jump up from there, though. “Nope, that's me!” A young girl? Where did she come from? “My name is Zina!”

“What a beautiful name.” My mother commented. Footsteps from what I assume to be the front door took over my scenes. “Hello, my son heard you unpacking your truck, and I thought I would bring over something to drink.”

“Well thank you very much. We're the Yeager family; my name is Jeremy, and this is my wife, Faith. Our oldest boy is Jude, and then comes Abel and Finally Zina.”

“Hello.” The family said all together, minus the younger boy. Abel must be shy or waved because I didn't hear him.

“Young man, my eyes are up here.” The mother spoke.

I could feel my face heat up immediately. “I assure you I mean no offense. I have no idea what I'm looking at most of the time.”

“My son, Greyson, is blind. He's been like that since birth.” I felt mom place her hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off. Hopefully, it wasn't as noticeable as it felt.

“Well may God have mercy on your future, Greyson. I'm sure he gave you this struggle for a reason.” The father replied. Oh, damn it, Christians. “I'll go find some cups so we can sit down and enjoy a break!” Just when I was about to be all happy we have new neighbors with a kid my age. Well, I guess it would be worse.

I mean, I could have to live with them. If I'm going to believe in a god that felt the need to make me blind, I'd be crazy. If he's to blame, I got a few choice words with him. Let's just hope they turn out to be more open minded than the average religious family.

Chapter End.

A chapter filled with new characters. Which will play important roles in MLSAHS and which wont? Only time will tell!
In other news, with Aidyn off to collage the opportunity to do some crossovers has arrived. If you've read some of my other stories I encourage you to do this small survey about potential crossover characters! Thanks!
