My Life Started After High School - 16. The Results – Wide Awake

Cairo and Carter have finally been reunited, Aidyn is off to a party and Abel has told his brother that he's gay. What are the end results?

Cairo's POV

I swear I stood there sobbing into Carter for an hour. My arms were wrapped around him so tight it could be stopping his breathing. He never mentioned anything though so I didn't loosen my grip.

Once I finally calmed down, I stepped back and wiped my tears away; again confirming that it was Carter. A grin formed on my face that just wouldn't go away. “I cannot believe you're here. Where have you been?”

He gave me a soft smile. “It's been a journey. What happened with home?”

“After you had left Dad went to Nathan's place, as you know. From that Auntie reported the incident and after a very small investigation, I was removed. Since then I have been staying with a family in foster care. The Craven's have been really nice to me.”

“Foster care? Why didn't your Auntie take you in?” Carter looked puzzled.

“They have had plans for going to Europe for a few months while Nathan goes to school.” Wait, he knows Aidyn! He's been into their room at the school. “You know Aidyn! Noah, his boyfriend, has been tutoring me. He's really cool.”

“You know Aidyn?” I nodded. “I guess you've been talking with Nathan then. What have you heard, Cairo?”

“Just that you were there a couple of months ago and suddenly nothing.” That was when an older guy came out of the office saying nothing. “Oh hi...” I got very nervous all of a sudden.

“I'm Tre, Carter's legal guardian. Nice to finally meet you Cairo.” He stuck out his hand; I shakingly accepted and shook it. “I assume you go to school here. Soon you and Carter will be going to the same school.”

“That's cool.” I didn't know what else to say. “I... I have to get back to class now. Ummm do you have something I can write my phone number on?”

“Here's my phone, put in your contact information. We'll be in contact with you Cairo.” Tre handed me his phone, and I quickly put my information in and handed back the phone. “We have to get going now though, see you around Cairo.”

“Okay. See you later, Carter.” I stood in the hallway with teeth showing grin wide on my face. Carter kept looking back at me as he went out. I didn't move until he was out of sight.

I got him back! Carter is here to stay.

Aidyn's POV

“Aidyn! Bryce!” Brailyn saw Bryce and me as we walked into the house. The party was already in full swing, people shouting and playing beer pong. Couples snuggling, sucking each others faces off.

Brailyn handed us each a solo cup for our alcohol of choice. “How drunk are you Brailyn?”

“I'm a designated driver tonight, so no alcohol for me. If you two need a ride just ask.”

“Thanks.” Bryce and I spoke together before going inside. We spent a while just trying to get alcohol. With so many people there, and many wanting to talk to us drunkenly, it took a bit to arrive at the serving table.

One such person interrupting our quest was Josh. Quite intoxicated already Josh came up and got all clingy on me. “Aidyn! Welcome to the party.” He gave me a hug. “How long have you beeeeen here?”

“Only a couple of minutes. You're very drunk Josh.”

He gave me this huge grin. “Ya I am, babe. I'm gonna get NASTY tonight.”

I pushed him away a bit. “That's cool Josh, wish you luck in finding the lucky guy.”

“Wish it was you Aidyn.” He almost lost his balance as he stepped back before giving me an awkward wink.

“I'm taken Josh; you know that.”

“I know but...” He looked like he was about to advance onto me.

Bryce stepped between us though. “You'll need to find another guy Josh.”

“Maybe Brailyn will be up for it. See ya later guys,” and like that, he hopped off through the house. Bryce and I looked at each other with nervous faces. Brailyn is going to have his hands full.

Once we finally got some booze we joined some of our other friends. I ended up getting an almost full cup of vodka. Now I like my hard alcohol, but that was quite a bit even for me. Who knows how many shots are in this cup.

I was clearly drinking my cup too fast because I started to feel the alcohol barely a half hour into the party. I started to feel it hard! Before long I ended up sitting down on a couch. Iris was suddenly beside me, maybe she was here from the beginning, but to me, she suddenly appeared.

“Hey Aidyn, where's Nathan?” She leaned forward looking directly at me.

I took a deep breath trying to straighten my thoughts through the alcohol. “He's in our room, didn't feel like coming out.”

“Oh sad, I was hoping to see him here.”

Turning my head, I smiled at her. “Are you into Nathan?”

She instantly blushed. “He's cute, and I would like to get to know him more. That is all Aidyn.”

I burst out laughing quite loud. “Nathan will be thrilled. He's into you the same way.”

“That's good to know.” I could see her face light up in red. “Who did you come here with?”

“Bryce is here somewhere.” I looked around for him but didn't see him anywhere. I took another sip of my drink. “Someone gave me pure vodka.”

Iris took my drink and sniffed it before taking a sip. “Maybe you should get off the liquor for a bit Aidyn. I'll go grab you some chips or something.”

“I'm fine. Had a big dinner before heading out.” I smiled for some reason, must be the alcohol.

“I think you should stop the drinking though.” Iris took my drink and set it down on the table behind her. “How much was in the cup originally?”

“It was mostly full.” She took another look at the drink. “I've only been for a little bit.”

“That has to be a huge number of drinks. I'm going to get you something to help.”

“It's fine Iris... I'm fine.”

Iris rolled her eyes. “I'll be right back.” She got up and started to speak to someone. I quickly grabbed my drink and downed it. Immediately Iris grabbed it from me. “Seriously Aidyn? Stay right here.”

I barely tasted this alcohol as it went down, I drank it so fast. Iris came back with food, soon after I blanked out. The night became a blur, and before I knew it, I woke up in my room with a headache and everything else that comes with a hangover.

When I went to roll over, there was another body there. I had no idea who this guy was or how he got into my room. I quickly put on PJs and got out of my room. Finding Nathan in the living room on a game.

“Ummm Nathan...” he looked over at me. “Who's in my room?”

He shrugged. “I don't know, he came in with you and said 'he's staying here tonight.'” Nathan was as confused as I am. “That's all I got dude.” Great, what did I get into last night?

Abel's POV

Sitting at the breakfast table knowing that Jude knows I'm into guys is kinda weirdly great. Especially with Dad being a dad. “Any girls at school catching your eyes Abel?”

Jude had this sly smile on his face as I replied. “Not really. I'm into the wild ones!” I kid, I kid. Sure they interest me, but not as much as boys. Dad rolled his eyes in response to my comment.

“Is it time we give you the birds and the bees talk?” Dad asked.

That caused my face to go beat red. “No, no, no, no, no! I'm fine!”

Mom chose the worst time to come into the conversation. “No, I think it's time to have the talk. When is your next day off Jeremy?” Oh god, I don't want to have this kind of conversation! Especially with dad!

“I don't know for sure I would have to check.” Work forever! We don't need to have this!

Jude coughed to gather attention. “What if I have the conversation with Jude?”

Mom looked quite confused. “That's what parents are for, Jude. Abel and your father can have a sit down and talk about all this stuff.”

I quickly raised my hand. “I would much rather it be with Jude!” Zina couldn't stop giggling at my pain. “Please, I really don't want dad awkwardly stumbling over words to me.”

Dad looked over at Jude. “You've spoken to your brother about it?”

“Yep! Have to warn my little brother.” Dad rolled his eyes. “I don't mind showing Abel the ropes.”

Mom shook her head. “I want you to have the talk with your father, not your brother.” Oh great, mom is law, so it will happen“There isn't really another option, sorry Abel.” and like that her word is law. I'm stuck with dad telling all about sex.

After dinner, I followed dad into the living room with an extremely awkward look on our faces. We sat down, and dad didn't say anything. We just sat in silence waiting for someone to say something.

“So... What do you know?” What kind of question is that dad!? Seriously?

I shrugged. “A bit, like wear a condom, so girls don't get pregnant and stuff like that. We've had sex ed. in school. And yes I know how to put a condom on.”

“Why are we here then?”

“No idea, mom just has it in her head that I need 'the talk.' May I go?” He nodded, and I was out of that living room in a flash. I went straight to Jude who was waiting at his desk in his room. “Okay, I'm free. What do you know about boys?”

Jude snorted and pointed at the door. “Close it, and I have only a couple of answers.”

“Better than what dad would have!” Dad would freak if I asked about sex with boys. “I know like most of it is the same, just with two instead of one. I just need to know about the anal thing.”

“Well I don't know much, but after a quick google search and a history delete I have a couple of answers.” Well better than I have. Never thought of google, so he's smarter than me. “Lube, use lube and a bit of foreplay before going in.” This is no less awkward than dad.

“Okay... and?”

“Go watch some gay porn when you get time to yourself. You'll get a better idea.” Great, I'm getting nothing from Jude either. “Just don't let mom and dad see it, delete your history. Oh, and don't go to sketchy porn sights.”

After a quick tutorial on how to delete history on phone and computer, Jude kicked me out of his room. Who needs 'the talk' when you have the internet, right?

Aidyn's POV

“So you have no idea who's in your bed?” Nathan asked I shook my head. “And you didn't stop and look? Even if it was just for a second?” Again I shook his head.

“I didn't even think of it, just had to get out. I don't remember anything from last night or even if we did anything.” Holy shit, what the fuck did I do last night? “Did you hear anything? Did anything happen?”

“No I didn't hear anything, but I also went to bed shortly after you got home.” Damn it, Fuck. Oh god. “Go wake him up and ask.” As stupid as that sounds it's my only option really.

So I went back to my room and took a better look at the guy in my bed. He was younger, not in college yet. His hair was bright blonde, with pink on the tip of his bangs. “Hey...” I shook him awake. His amber eyes looked up at me, damn he was cute. “I have to ask did we do anything?”

“No, before we even headed here you were talking about your boyfriend, Noah. There was no expectation for anything to happen Aidyn.” He knows my name, Noah's name but I have no idea who this kid is... I must have gotten really drunk. “You look very confused, so you probably don't remember me. My name is Cupid.”

I let out a sigh of relief. “Nice to meet you while sober Cupid.” At least nothing happened.

Cupid giggled. “Nice to meet you too. I should probably call my parents though. Thanks for letting me stay the night.”

“Ya, no problem I guess.” After a couple of minutes, Cupid had packed himself up and was out the door. When he left, I got out my phone and messaged Noah.

Me- So I woke up this morning, and I don't remember much from last night. But I woke up with a guy in my bed. We didn't do anything, and I was talking about you all night according to him. Sorry I got so drunk that I don't have an explanation as to how it happened.

Noah- Well thanks for telling me... do you know his name?

Me- Cupid, apparently.

Noah- K.

I'm not surprised at the lack of responses Noah is giving. He's obviously upset and for a good reason. I fucked up...

Good chapter! I knew that party was a bad idea! I don't blame Noah one bit for being upset. Doesn't matter that nothing happened....this time! Just the fact that Aidyn woke up with a stranger in his bed not remembering anything is by itself worth being angry about. What's gonna happen when Aidyn texts Noah with a similar story, except something does happen?? Aidyn could be going down a very dark road and end up losing Noah if he keeps this up. I'd definitely have trust issues after this if I were Noah. Texting a confession doesn't excuse it. Moving on, LOL, poor Abel. Nobody wants to have "the talk" with either of their parents. Can totally tell his mother rules their house! Luckily he has Jude for support. It is great that Cairo and Carter have been reunited! As always, looking forward to reading more!!
