Angel Keeps a Secret

   (8 reviews)

A young Hispanic teen boy had his life ripped out from under him when his father got transferred. He's getting by, but isn't the happy, gay boy he was before. Something tragic changes that for him. Needless to say, it isn't a totally happy story all the way through.

This is the second of these stories that has prompted me to write a review because it was simply very well done. The author packed emotional drama in bucket fulls into a realistic slice of life with believable characters and events and all in 2000 words. Well done, I urge you to read it.

Response from the author:

Thanks for the nice review.

Think back to when you were thirteen or fourteen and what might have been the most devastating thing that could happen to you.  Would it be moving away from your best friend, the death of a loved one, someone finding out about a closely guarded secret, such as that you're gay, or maybe that your parents or close friends won't accept you for being gay.  This story deals with two of those situations, and although they seem devastating at first, it turns out that those affected are able to overcome what they previously thought was the worst thing that could possibly happen to them.  Trust me, you'll enjoy this short story and be glad you read it when you get to the final sentence.

Response from the author:

Thanks for the nice review. Glad you suggested reading to the end, hehe.
