Roadie In Love

   (5 reviews)

December, 2023 was a high point in eighteen-year-old Kevin Lewiston's life. He'd finally lost his virginity. For the first time in recent memory he didn't get a 'C' or a 'D' on his report card. His parents gave him their old Chevy Equinox for Christmas. Everything was looking up for the young man.

The calendar changed. Kevin's world changed. By June, he was on the verge of giving up. Then he saw something on TV that changed his mind; saved his life even. He packed everything he needed or cared about into his car, hit the road, and never looked back.

Interesting little story about what can happen when you decide to do something out of character and just decide to live.

The characters were all well done, even the ones you wanted to slap with a two by four.  The writing was excellent, and the flow was good, but the end came rather abruptly, but everything really was tied up.

There are a couple of gross out moments, but they fit with the age of the protagonist and the situation, so they were not too jarring.

Response from the author:

Thanks. Love the two-by-four comment.

Another enjoyable tale from the excellent @Lee Wilson.  A perfect example of “seize the day”.  The story is well-written with very good characterisation and dialogue.   A good addition to Lee’s collection of stories.

Excellent!

Response from the author:

Thanks a bunch. Everything about GA, is one of the few things that keeps me going.

This is the story of 18 year old Kevin who was on the verge of giving up, but then he was impulsive, did something out of character and started to live his life.

To find out more about Kevin and his adventures you need to read this story.

Response from the author:

Thanks for the review.

This is a @Lee Wilson "lite" story, and this is not a bad thing, it is just different from the majority of his stories.

The story begins with the death of the protagonist, Kevin Lewiston's, new boyfriend, his mother and father, killed by a drunk driver, cancer and in a school shooting respectively. Not to make light of these deaths, but they are not described in any detail and essentially happen "off camera". They are however, the catalyst for a drastic change in Kevin's life and the journey he takes  to follow a rock band, one of whose members he is desperately in lust with. Kevin faces the usual ups and downs in life, but leads a relatively peaceful and largely contented life.

A delightful story seen through the lens of 18 year old Kevin. There is the usual homophobia, although very lite in comparison to many of Lee's other stories, and few if any life or career threatening disasters, which can often be found in a story by this prolific writer.

Response from the author:

Thanks. Yes, I think this one began my kinder, gentler phase. But I have to keep things different to keep you all engaged.
