Seasons Of The Son - 1. Seasons Of The Son

I remember the first step
Call it season number one
I didn't think it was bad
Just something done for fun

I was young, she was younger
Show me yours, I'll show you mine
We had no idea it was wrong
But in a flash, it wasn't fine

We, interrupted by a mother
She, showing a lack of class
Spun me 'round to face away
and spanked me on the ass

It was much later then,
and time for season two
The boys and I were naked
'Twas not much else to do

Perhaps all was innocent
I'll really never know
Noises came from somewhere else
From somewhere down below

We ran upstairs to try and hide
Brother arrived with a friend
We threw on clothes in a minute
No time there was to spend

In season three, there were more boys
Gone swimming in a pool
Deciding not to join them
I acted like a fool

They ran about and swam at night
Naked though they were
I hesitated joining them
I was not very sure

To this day, regrets abound
I should have joined the fun
Afraid we would be caught
I was the only one

Much time then was to pass
'Fore season number four
Did I make a big mistake
When walking through that door?

With eyes wide open
I tried to see
And what I saw I enjoyed
Naked men in front of me!

Indeed, I found myself
On this warm September day
When all at once I realized
In fact I was gay

A great tale of 4 seasons and discovery of naked men and being gay.

Thanks.  Wasn’t sure how it was going to be received. Happy it’s getting positive comments and emojis.

Well good because this was a lot better. You managed to pack a lot of growing up and self realization in those verses

Better than an old, somewhat hit song? Cool. Glad you enjoyed my mini-autobiography.

An interesting tale of childhood sexual exploration to discovering your sexual identity.  An interesting tale of  one young mans life, once that I'm sure many of us can identify with.  Thanks for sharing this.

A wonderful and concise journey of one boy/man's discovery. I think the way you used 'seasons' worked well here. It can be such a lonely confusing path to take, and you made me feel that here. I liked the conclusion showing self awareness. Well done, sir. Cheers!

Thanks much. And to think it was an idea out of the blue. At least putting it all together.

Your poem is a great interpretation of the anthology theme. The way of finding yourself divided in seasons, perfect.

I really like the title too.

Thank you, for sharing.
