Poem Collection - MythOfHappiness - 17. Wrong

I’m not right for you

I’m playing with you

I’m using you

You’re nothing to me

This is wrong

How can you not see?

How can you be so stupid?

I’m not who you think I am

I’m not worth all this pain

What I’m doing is wrong

I have to end this

Why can’t you see how bad I am?

Why can’t you end it for me?

Why do you love me?

How can you be so wrong?

I don’t love you

I never have

So why do I keep fucking saying it?

Why do I lie?

Why am I so wrong?

I need to man up

I need to do the right thing

I need to hurt you

I’m so scared of hurting you

To do anything else would be wrong

What if I end it

And I wish I hadn’t?

What if I find out I had the best thing,

I’ll ever get and I threw it away?

What if I’m wrong?

Do I love you?

I think I would know by now.

Does it matter?

Whatever the answer

I’m sure I’ll get it wrong.

Chapter Comments

The voice of uncertainty, of fear and apprehension, comes through hear so clearly and poignantly.  This poem defines the phrase twisting slowly in the wind. This was incredibly well done.
