Better off as Memories

   (4 reviews)
Genres: General Fiction,
Sub-genres: Drama, Slice of Life

I believe a gay guy, at one point, must have had a similar experience of loving someone who we aren't supposed to and had to keep that ache inside while the outside is all smiles because we don't want to lose them as our best friend. Here--this story--is loosely based on my real life and real conversations, but not all of them, of course. Find out the ending whether this unconditional and unrequited love will be reciprocated.

A poignant and sweet story of the dearest platonic friendship lasting through the decades...

Response from the author:

Thank you very much. Fun fact: Van Cooper's birthday is 27th June. Just a few days ago. While Bryan send him a happy birthday text to him every year since they got connected again. But Van never does the same to Bryan on his birthday (24th March) even once.

Better off as Memories has left me very tender-hearted as I recognise in the narrator aspects of my own life and relationships.

A fantastic morning read that many of us will recognise.

Response from the author:

Thank you for your review. It's good that you are still meeting each other. I haven't met him again after I went to his house over 3 years ago...

A poignant tale of the schoolboy crush turning into friendship and agony.  The final parts of their adult connections left me wondering why did Cooper maintain the contacts?

A very nicely written piece of writing full of emotional resonances - at least for this reader.

Response from the author:

Hi. Thank you for your review. I’m glad you like this piece, which is a part of my life. I also wonder why Cooper tried so hard to get Brian’s number and why he still wants to keep in touch while he’s so near yet acting so far away. Guess we will never know.
