Last Light - 1. Chapter 1

Chapter 1
Gemini
The icy winds hovered over the heads of the four most morbid teens in South Valendale. They attend Manner High School. All was silent and no one else was in the woods. Mike Creld pointed out Gemini, his astrological sign, to his best friend TJ. Mike’s girlfriend, Allison, hated stargazing, but she goes for Mike. Mike’s cousin, Jon, was in the back of the group.
“Jon hurry up damn it,” TJ groaned impatiently. Allison looked over at Jon and noticed how quiet he was. Jon was the loud one in the group and almost never was quiet unless something was really bothering him.
“Mike, is Jon okay?” Allison asked, concerned for her close friend.
Mike looked back, “Jon, are you okay? You’re being frighteningly quiet. Do we need to stop for you?”
“I’m okay! Just leave me the hell alone! I might not want to talk! Hasn’t that ever crossed your mind?” and with that, Jon ran deep into the woods.
“Jon! Come back here!” Allison screamed, “Mike, should we follow him?”
Mike ran a hand through his jet-black hair and nodded. The footsteps of the three people flying through the woods were awfully loud. It was so loud that even the dead would awake from it.
After about 10 minutes of looking, an extremely high-pitched scream pierced the silent night. Mike ran to the source of the sound and he found Allison standing there. She was shaking and couldn’t focus on anything. TJ busted through the trees and he found them there. Following Allison’s gaze, Mike saw why she screamed. Jon was lying face down in the dirt and blood was everywhere. A crucifix was hanging down from a tree branch. TJ bent over and turned Jon over. His innocent face and blond hair were covered in blood. A wooden dagger was sticking out of his chest. Allison turned away and ran. Mike followed her for comfort. TJ examined Jon’s corpse closer and discovered two puncture wounds in each of his wrists. Then he noticed his neck. Two of them, located right over his vein.
A vampire.
