Amber Waves - 31. Ships At Sea

This is the poem referenced extensively throughout chapter 29. It was written by Lord Sandolin as a tribute for King Paelias Serande at the king's funeral.

We are ships embarking at sea. Full of hope, we lay our course
Young, naive, we will fight the world, no matter what force.

We are ships sailing at sea. Full of life, we keep our plot
Gone from home, adventures ahead, with many battles to be fought.

We are ships adrift at sea, our paths crossing in the light. Buffeted in each other’s wakes, we offer support, but in the end we have our own fight.

We are ships, lost at sea. In the night we pass.
Forever lonely, we seek safe harbour, so we may be together at last.

We are ships becalmed at sea. Ahead the squall forms
We’ll stand tall, slice through these waves. We will not fall to these storms.

We are ships adrift at night.
Torn asunder, we still cling together. Now we’ll see what lies beyond the light.

We are ships beneath the sea, sinking fast into the deep
Together forever, we take comfort, Together forever until our last sleep.

Please note that I'm not much of a poet. But I felt that with how much it was referenced, this really needed to be written :)

A story that may be listed as fiction, but could have been non.  I don't have the words to put my feelings in this note.  I cried with Amber and Captain Darren, with Aaron and Itumak and feel the loss for all of them.  Thank you precious writer for bring this story to us.
