General update

Some of you might have seen my last blog entry which basically said that I was being made redundant from my role at work....

Well, yesterday I was informed by my Divisions MD/CEO that there was never any question of me leaving the company I work for, and that effective next week I would be moving to work for the senior management team supporting bid work and looking at financial controls.

I should be happy I guess..... it's a huge compliment. but for two reasons i'm a little disappointed. (1) They removed my "at risk" status, which means that if I leave the company i wont get a pay-off leading to (2) They severely restricted my choices....

that said, in the current climate, i should be very glad to be employed at all, especially in a senior position...

Hugs, It doesn't stop you looking for another job hun. Who cares if you get a pay off from this job if you're moving to a better one. You've such a lovely personality and clearly know your stuff so I'm thinking you would find something better if you try. What do you have to lose.

I'm with Nephy here.

You now have the opportunity to go look for another job without the stress of knowing you 'need' to find another job. As long as they don't ask you to can a bunch of employees again or do something unethical you should be safe to continue and look for other employment on the side.

As a side note, you mentioned that they have asked you to do some things that may even be illegal from the tone of your previous jobs.

If this is the case, do you not have Labour Relations Boards that oversee employment standards for non union jobs in the UK. A note to them even though you were involved can sometimes work out in your favour.

I guess congrats on thee promotion isn't really applicable, but glad to hear you are okay with a little less stress in your life.

Congratulations! This sounds like a promotion which will be a plus if you do decide to look for a different job. You've heard of the catbird seat? You are in it.

I'm sorry, West, but I have a strong feeling that all your situation " stinks". The management is playing a dirty game with you. IMO, they need you as a shield for some no so "kosher" work, and if the things go wrong, you will have to take the responsability and be thrown out . At the moment, your only choice is to keep a low profile, be careful, establish a record, collate documents, everything which could be useful for your defense. Maybe I'm wrong (I hope so) ?

In a few words : take care !

In my long business life, I saw a few of such cases and only a good preparation was the only way to manage the case in favor of the employee.

Since you don't plan on staying with that company for ever, or even for very long ;) I'd say go for it if it helps you getting some experience in a different field. As far as I understand, this will have more to do with the financial side of business, so there is valuable know-how to be gained.

However, that shouldn't prevent you from looking elsewhere if you don't feel comfortable in your new assignment or if it requires you to alter your job schedule, increases commuting times, etc.
