The Final Frontier...

The last few weeks I've been working on really cleaning out the house. It started with the girls' rooms and has slowly progressed one area at a time. As a former teacher, I tended to keep everything, sure I could use it for something--some craft, some project, etc--plus, I have a husband who has to keep every computer, monitor, old laptop, keyboard, etc that has ever come into the house. I finally decided that it's time to purge the house of extraneous items. I don't plan to go back to teaching 6th grade science or afterschool craft classes. I might go back to teaching preschool, but why keep ten egg cartons in case I might be making 'caterpillars' with 2 years sometime in the future?

So as I am finally nearing the end and the final closet, this is what came into my head as I stared it down.

The closet... the final frontier
this is the continuing endeavor of the Hunter Clan
it's five week mission
to clear out old clutter,
to seek out lost items and new organization
to boldly go where no one has gone in months...

Yes, I am a sci fi fan.... :)

I know what you mean.

My decision to declutter mushroomed into changing/ rearranging the furniture in the living room and den. It's been going on a lot longer than originally planned and

I still have the kitchen cupboards to do....

It's a good thing to be a sci fi fan.

Loved the ode to Star Trek.

I need to declutter my house, too.  It's amazing how much stuff we accumulate. lol

I started to clean my bedroom closet out, and was putting things away, but then I found a bill I forgot to pay in the jeans I wore the other day, so I ran a load of wash to get the jeans out of the way, and then I remembered the bill so I paid that, and that led me to file all the paid bills, and then I organized the top of the desk, and found some other stuff to file, and then I found a spoon that was dirty, so I took it to the kitchen, and I was hungry so I had lunch, and then I started cleaning out the refrigerator, and took some stuff out to the trash, and then I passed by the car, which needed washer fluid so I did that, and then I took a nap. Final frontier, indeed

That's what usually happens to me. I'll start cleaning the living room, but have to put away a couple dishes. So I stop to fill the dishwasher, realize the trash is full, take it out... hmmm, yard needs to be mowed. Yeah, that's my ADHD, so it usually takes forever to get things done.

I've lived in the same house for forty years.   I still have the first winter coat I bought for my son who turns 36 this December....
