Weekly Wrap Up!

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Just a reminder that tomorrow is the CSR Discussion day of The Rainy Day by Graeme. Now, with that reminder, let's see what happened in the GA News Blog this last week.

For our featured story, Timothy M provided us with a review of Prophylaxis.

Wednesday, Cia took over the blog to discuss something that had once again struck the site: Plagiarism. Cia gives some great tips on how to search for your story to make sure it's not posted anywhere that you didn't authorize. All authors should definitely check this post out.

Friday, Comicfan brought new prompts to the blog. Want to see what prompt responses were written? Comicfan provided snippets from all of them.

Last, but not least, we had a Saturday post this week in which Cia announced A Grim Fairytale by K.C. as the October Signature Background.

Well done, Promising Authors ! Even if we count Rob Colton's story amongst the Signature Authors, the Prom A posted as many as the Sig A. :D

If we can count Rob's chapter then we get to add in Classic Author Dabeagle as well! Whoohoo! Sigs just squeaked ahead!

:D :D :D :D :D

(not that I'm counting or anything...)

No, Rob is a Signature Author, not a Classic Author. I checked, and that's why I counted him, even if his story was listed as Premium and not under the Sig A. So you're even with the Prom A not ahead.

Regards from the AR stickler for numbers and details.

I guess I have to write a prompt story for this week. Next week I'll post the first chapter of a second story which I'll update weekly. :) Can't wait.

Classic Authors are Signature authors that are on hiatus/missing in action, but if they are posting they are considered Signature Authors. :P If they continue to post regularly, they'll likely be moved back to Signature.

To sum up - Totally counts. We still won. :D

I think we need a Moderator to solve this, unless you can show a GA link which says the above (I haven't been able to find such a statement). Not that it's super important. ;)

Krista's statement has always been my understanding of what Classic Authors are.

What does it really matter? It's not a competition and even if it was, the winners are the readers.

I agree with Renee. Nothing is being said about the great number of updates by the ENTIRE group of promoted authors or the content that was featured this week on the blog, just bickering--albiet good-natured--about who posted more.

FYI, though, Classic authors are previously promoted authors we do not wish to demote but who are not actively posting, even if they are still members. Occasionally, these are authors who could be posting at one time or another, but don't wish the pressure of the need to remain actively writing and sharing content on the site consistently.

It's not a competition, but I do find it fun every week to see who posted more.  It's nice to see the Promising Authors keep pace, since it doesn't happen very often that we post as much or more than the Signature Authors.  I will admit to doing a fist pump when I counted more under the Proms this week, despite the fact that if you add in Premium and Classic, then technically we didn't post more.  ;)  I really appreciate seeing the list of stories in the Weekly Wrap Up every week, especially when I've managed to get something posted.  I consider it an honor to be featured among other such talented authors on this site.  It's also a nice reminder in case there was a story I forgot to read.  Sorry if any of my posts offended.  None was meant.

As Cia said, today was good-natured ribbing, but in the past it's gotten out of hand and been a lot less good-natured with accusations of "why didn't *so and so* post more", etc. I, for one, don't want to see that start happening again.

"Figures often beguile me,particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: 'There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.'"  Mark Twain

Why bother creating silly statistics? I'm just happy so many different authors are posting quality stories. Even if not all are my cup of tea, I appreciate the effort.

Thank you, all!

I will say honestly, I think of the "competition" thing as tongue in cheek teasing at best and not meant to be mean spirited in any way, and I'd hate to see it seen as such. So if I've fanned an ugly flame, it was not my intention.

I'm happy to see the overall list and all the new promoted content. Even when I'm not on it.

Here, I'll take the focus off of you, you rable rouser...

Us lowly UN-promoted authors posted more stories this week, as usual! Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.... :D

I guess I wasn't around when it wasn't good-natured, so I hadn't realized my posts could lead to anything unpleasant. Sorry. But at least there was some posting on this topic, which doesn't always happen.
