Puddles and Friends

Someone gave me the advice “ don’t cross an ocean for someone who wouldn’t cross a puddle for you”.

Today I’ll paddle and you rest. Tomorrow we’ll swap. Together we’ll make down stream.

I’ll hold my hand out, the choice is yours if we dance in the rain and splash in the puddles.

Love and life are not about what you get but what you give.
Unless it endangers your life, cross puddles. Climb mountains, cross oceans, open doors.

Love people. Love unconditionally.

thanks reader! thanks caz! :glomp:

i had a therapist who fired me as a patient because i refused to hate my abuser (didn't love or like those people, just refused to hate). last therapist i ever saw. i told him the opposite of love was not hate, but indifference.

edited to add: abuse in any form is not ok and those who do it need to be punished. i wish i had been a stronger teenager and  turned them in. my abusers that i know of are dead. some in horrific, painful ways. i only know of one that lives and last i heard he is in jail.

I'm all for giving and loving the people around you. However, I do believe you need to take care of yourself as well. If you give too much and don't get any in return, you will burn out or disintegrate. So keep an ember deep inside only for you.

As for the whole love - hate - indifference... I had the exact same discussion with a truly clever friend. I claimed I could be indifferent. He says there is only love or hate. So apparently, it's a theory that's out there. I still maintain I can simply ignore others. But I know that I would do whatever I can to rescue someone in trouble. Never suffered abuse, but I think I could never sit and watch one suffer or die. Does that mean I would love them?

And weird to encourage you to hate. Hate is a destructive emotion. I could agree to getting angry and getting things out that way. But not hate.

i agree with you about ignoring others.

Yes it would mean you love them. the problem is the word love. there is so many kinds of "love" but must are programmed to think of the romantic  type. i could not stand by and watch a strange jump from the bridge. i that moment, i love him. never saw him again but i remember him and loved him, if only for a moment.

thanks for reading and for the comments.

I feel you, about love. The love for others, strangers... Although I admit that contrary to strangers, to people that wrong someone, or abuse, I could probably live with indifference, but I am truthful to myself, deep down I would hate them.
