They called me an idiot. They said I was crazy. They filed a restraining order prohibiting me from coming within 500 feet of them. But now my right-wing grandparents are eating some serious geriatric crow, for recently obtained videos prove once and for all that Bush not only knew about the existence of Hurricane Katrina days in advance, but personally steered the storm into New Orleans to kill as many poor, inner-city Blacks as possible.

For the record, when the National Weather Service said on Sunday, August 28 that the storm was going to turn northeast and accelerate toward the coastal areas, they were not talking about New Orleans. (New Orleans is not a coastal area.) They were talking about the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which is where they were predicting the eye to come ashore after it clipped the southeasternmost tip of Louisiana, 90 miles southeast of New Orleans.

 

New Orleans itself was not hit directly by Katrina and would have been in fairly good shape after the hurricane, had not the levees been breached. On the other hand, the Mississippi Gulf Coast was "ground zero" and was basically wiped out.

 

Mississippi is solid Republican territory, Bush country through and through.
