Chapter 37 has just been posted. The three remaining chapters are all in the "process," which means I've got to start thinking about the next one.

I get that this story is not going to go out "like a lamb."

That's a good thing. :2thumbs:

What's that line...so many men, so little time. :lmao:

I guess this had to be in the cards for Brad and Robbie. What's surprising was having Robbie be the instigator. I'm glad that Robbie was honest about it....well, I guess he should have come clean a little sooner. As always, Brad's on the offence. He's never been the "wait and see" type.

I'm trying to decide if Brad has some sort of strategy in mind or whether he's simply doing the goose/gander thing.

I have to agree, Connor. Brad seems to be very responsive to situations rather than reactive, which seems to cause him no end of problems...the current situation with Robbie notwithstanding. But, Mark, I hope that Brad notices Robbie watching him...I got the impression that Robbie was feeling very hurt, despite what he allowed to happen, and stopped that behavior at the party because of his love for Brad.

Just remember that Brad is only 18. Probably a little impetuous. God knows I was.

I just want Brad and Robbie back together in the long run. I really hope it happens but it is scaring me that they are not together right now. I enjoy the sex scenes because they are very erotic but at the same time every time I read Robbie being with someone else and Brad being with someone else it just makes my heart break in two. I do not want these two to not be together. I want them to make love and be lovers and boyfriends and companions and partners again. I know they are both young and they both need to spread their wings but I just can not stand them not being with each other as lovers and partners.

Great chapter, glad for the break from the intensity of Billy's death and funeral. Don't get me wrong, Brad and Robbie's "break up" was sad, but kinda of expected. Only I thought it was going to be Brad's fault. I actually liked that Robbie is becoming his own man and not just Brad's boyfriend. I hope in the remaining chapters Lark makes a little more than an appearance, after all break ups happen among straight guys also. I actually hope I read more into Armand's cold than was really there. It is the early 80's but that would be a downer of a way to end this series. Thanks again for a great read! :worship:

Hey, Rafe, I caught that veiled (thinly) reference, too, and it was sort of a bitter reminder of reality's biting all of us...

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the story. I know there were some tough points, but then again, life isn't fair, now is it? There are two more chapters still to go. Chapter 39 will be posted within the next day or two. Chapter 40 is still "in process." Homepage with "the process"

Just read Ch. 40....Whew! There's gotta be another series to follow this up...right?

Mr Arbour

I am writing just to say I enjoy your works. I have read them all and enjoyed them very much. I am not sure what the draw is but I truly enjoy them.

Thank You!

Mike

I have enjoyed reading this series, even though it feels like watching a train wreck as every character acts out his over-sexed life. As someone of an age to understand what it was like pre- and post-AIDS, I glad that you are continuing the series to show what happened as a result of all the profligate sex you depicted. I'll read it and probably hate every word if it is true to rest of the tale because I like the characters at the same time I deplore their behavior.

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by "deplorable behavior"? There are a lot of things to choose from, I'm just wondering what it was that you found especially bad.

Teenagers not being able to be faithful to the person they claim to love I somewhat understand (although it is possible), but adults who f**k anything that walks by when they profess to love someone doesn't meet my idea of love. Call me old fashioned.

I tried to post this from my phone last weekend, but it failed. (I'm not as techno-savvy as I think I am.)

I was in Palo Alto for Memorial Day weekend. While driving around, OMG!, that's Gunn High School. All of a sudden Scotty has beamed into Be Rad and then as I head up into the hills and pass gated entrances, I wonder, which one would lead me to Brad, to nirvana.

Now that is too funny! I saw a new post in this thread and it was like a blast from the past. And before fisting. :P

An absolute blast from the past.

I really zoned at one point. Fortunately, I didn't make the mistake of begin fully honest when my wife asked what I was thinking!

I'm about half way through this one now and I have to say it's an amazing serial so far. 1968 was a little depressing [but very well written], but The Land Whore and BE RAD more than make up for it.

Catching up slowly. :D

Kudos Mark. :worship:

Here's a song that reminds me of the end chapters of Be Rad, when Brad and the guy he had been hooking up with realize that it's not going to work, becasue Brad wants to be with Robbie.

"Angel of the Morning" by Juice Newton

There'll be no strings to bind your hands

not if my love can't bind your heart.

And there's no need to take a stand

for it was I who chose to start.

I see no need to take me home,

I'm old enough to face the dawn.

Just call me angel of the morning, angel

just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.

Just call me angel of the morning, angel

then slowly turn away from me.

Maybe the sun's light will be dim

and it won't matter anyhow.

If morning's echo says we ve sinned,

well, it was what I wanted now.

And if we're the victims of the night,

I won't be blinded by light.

Just call me angel of the morning, angel

just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.

Just call me angel of the morning, angel

then slowly turn away,

I won't beg you to stay with me

through the tears of the day,

of the years, baby baby baby.

Just call me angel of the morning, angel

just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby

i've not read this thread, b/c i'm not done with the story yet (chapter... 17?) but I wanted to let Mark know that I am blaming him for my lack of productivity. Since starting the CAP series, I've gotten very little done. Good thing I'm a fast reader. Your writing is too compelling, darn it!

Funny how a change in POV can alter my opinion of characters. Like Roger (for the better), and Sam (not for the better). I love reading about the siblings' relationships with each other, and Brad's view of his relationships with the adults.

I hope at some point we get to know Billy better, even if I know that he's not going to be around too much longer. sniff.

Worry not! You only have 5 stories left after Be Rad. You'll enjoy every one I think. Brad is one of my favorite characters, and it seems that he grows a lot as a person from the beginning to the end. Just watch out for tear-jerker chapters. :(

Oh. I have looked at the timeline... so I know that some characters don't get to stay around for very long. And I already cried (when Stef got shot and thought Greg was dead, and Brad pulled him back... sniff sniff.)

but thanks for the heads up.

read.gif one more chapter.... just one more.

Now what did you wanna go and do that for? Do you read the last page of novels ahead of time too?

I like this story, so I'm glad you do too. I like the next one (Man In Motion) too. And I like Bloodlines. The other two are OK.

ACTUALLY. no. I've never read the last page of a fiction book before reading all the rest. But the timeline is right there... and I was getting confuzzled about all the characters... and, and, and...

innocent.gif i'm making up excuses. I'm weak. what can I say?

it's hard not to have any spoilers since there are a zillion and five posts about the stories on here. But that doesn't mean I won't enjoy the journey of getting to know each character and reading about how they get to wherever they are... or who they end up with...

I do want JP to find someone. I thought Sam was it, but some posts SOMEWHERE hinted that Sam's karma from his dealings with Jeff would be coming to bite him in the ass.

right now, he's enjoying some young ass, so I'm not seeing the karma bit yet. I'll just have to keep reading.
