NANOWRIMO 2009

So here it is October and the Nanowrimo season is sneaking up quickly... are you ready? Are you writing? Are you clueless?

I did that last year and got to 110,000 words and the best work I have ever done. Unfortunately there isn't a gay character in sight and it is a straight romance... well in the twisted sense of the word

 

Maybe this year I will do one I can post on here.

I'm ready! I just need to decide which idea to go with. And then spend the next few weeks outlining and researching.

This year is going to be tricky for me as I am going on a cruise the last week of October. We will be flying home October 31. So, I should be very very relaxed for November 1... NOT! Gads I just hope my house is still standing! (Not an idle hope considering my son's rather checkered history!) Not to mention the housekeeping I will have to catch up on and then real life will come crashing down... bleh. Oh well I write best when stressed. We will see what happens.

Now THAT'S what't impressive!!! I never outline and research... I just write. Well... okay I do some research when it's needed but my head is so full of useless information anyway that I always seem to have plenty of material

Oh, I am still writing stuff. But doing an entire novel in one month? Not likely to happen

Well, I don't know when I'll be able to really get back into writing stories, but I do want to make it soon. I'd like to try this some time, but I don't know if I'm capable of writing that much. I guess I'll have to give it a try.

Well the whole point of Nanowrimo is the grand ole try... do what you can and do your best at it... more is better... most is best... but we will take what you can do.

Do we get to know how you're doing?

 

I'm 8,528 words as of this afternoon, which my word meter tells me is 17% of the 50,000 goal. I feel very accomplished, because I'm a super slow writer as a general rule. I'd love to be as prolific as some others, but it's just not in the cards for me. So I'm quite happy with this number.

 

Rather than jump into one of the new novel-length ideas I had, I decided to focus on several shorter things that I've been wanting to finish. So that word counts includes two short stores and the next chapter of Truth in Advertising. Done!

 

I love NaNo. I hope I can keep the momentum going.

I am loving the story I am writing, really getting into it. So far I have 48,320 words

I hit 9k this evening, trying for 10k before bedtime, not promising but looking hopeful. Keep up the good work.

Well I was going to do this, but then life got in the way. I'm so far behind in school work that I really can't, especially being sick again... but something in me still tells me I should try. Well word count right now is 0, but maybe I'll get lucky and strike gold this weekend while I'm relaxing trying to get better.

Ok people... we are past the halfway point! I know Nephy is done... I'm past the halfway mark... how is everyone else doing?

YAY.... I have actually not just gone over the 50K but I have also finished the novel. It's with my ace editor/beta and the word count could change but at the moment it's at 104081 or something like that.

 

Just had an awesome idea for a new story so I finished just in time because now I am POSESSED by the new story...

 

Hurry up with yours Lugh because I am posessed by that one too.... I want to KNOW what happens to Rix and Puck... I love them both but not as much as Amberley :)

I'm at 19,897. But I'm conosling myself with the knowledge that those are ~20,000 usable, edited words. I know you're not supposed to edit as you go for NaNo, but I'm totally hopeless at that.
