Who is the BEST Jack Ryan?

Tom Clancy has a whole lot of fans and I'm curious: of the four Clancy novels made into feature films, who made the best Jack Ryan?

 

It's hard to bet against Harrison Ford but Alec Baldwin and Ben Affleck were both pretty good.

I'm going with Alec Baldwin. I'm a big Tom Clancy fan and Jack Ryan is a great character. Baldwin really fit my imagined idea.

Harrison Ford, hands down. Alec Baldwin wasn't even the best actor in The Hunt for Red October. Ben Affleck is a good actor, but I don't consider him to be in the same league as Ford. Harrison is better with facial expressions than Affleck. And do I need to mention Giggly (sic).

I've read Clancy, Red Storm Rising ROCKED! but whenever I picture Ryan in my head I see Baldwin.

Harrison was the first one I saw in that role. Since then he's the one I picture in my mind when thinking of Jack Ryan. And he definitely is the best choice.

Though I agree that he's a horse's rearend most of the time, when I think Jack Ryan, I see Alec Baldwin.

Actually, I see none of the above, I see PD's dad . Which is weird since I pictured Ryan before I met PD (or his dad). I stopped reading Clancy a while ago.

Ford is hands down the best actor to play the older Jack Ryan.

 

Buuut....Affleck, I thought, made an excellent choice for the young Jack Ryan.

If I was just picking my favorite actor, I'd say Harrison Ford, no question. But, Baldwin is better as Jack Ryan. The thing is, Ryan is supposed to be sort of this bookish analyst type, who doesn't necessarily want to use force, and I can buy Baldwin more in that role. Harrison Ford is better suited to the ass-kicking president, like in Air Force One.
