One of the things I really get out of doing music recs is finding songs from that era that I never heard before, that are actually really good songs. "Lately" by Allure is one of them. Beautiful song, I think.

Not to mention the song had a revival in 1994, which was still somewhat recent to the timeline of the story. It's become sort of a timeless song, I think.

Material Girl was the quintessential anthem of the mid-80's. It was all about the money.

I picked it because that scene with the apartment in Wall Street seems like such a quintessential Yuppie cultural touchstone, which fits in with JP wanting to attract Yuppies to Claremont with loft houses and the like.
