Site Administrator wildone Posted October 29, 2011 Site Administrator Posted October 29, 2011 So has anyone ever looked into the town of Northam, WA? During the 1940s and 1950s in Northam there were extensive camps for displaced persons and immigrants from Europe. The Northam Migrant Accommodation Centre closed in September 1951. It had been the first place of residence in WA for approximately 15,000 immigrants from the Baltic states, Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Yugoslavia, Ukraine, Belarus and Bulgaria.[4] During the peak immigration period, Northam had the largest immigrant receiving facilities within the State and the third largest in Australia. By 1950, the camp housed 4,000 people and two new blocks of huts were built to accommodate them all.[5] By May 1954, 23,000 migrants had passed through the Northam Camp once the Accommodation Centre had closed. Interesting enough, it was home to the 3rd largest immigration centre in Australia. I immediately thought of my Polish grandfather who immigrated to Canada and could not get work here because of his last name. He legally changed it to a generic name, Shore, and was immediately able to find work. My theory is that Rachel's family immigrated to Australia via Northam and legally changed their last name to Smith. Probably a lot of people may have changed their names to Smith to signify a new start and a break away from their past lineage. If that is the case, their may have been 1000's if not tens of thousands of Smith's from the Northam region. That may be the surprised reaction between Fowler and the constable in Kalbarri. If they know their is thousands of Smiths, Trevor may be on a very disappointing task of tracking down his Mom's family. Just the kind of thing that the Goat would do to our poor Trevor 1

Site Administrator wildone Posted October 30, 2011 Site Administrator Posted October 30, 2011 Well we know for sure that the Captain of the pirate ship is dead He could be hinting at several things, one being Rachel, another being if either Shane or Trevor die, another could be the George being killed by Bridget, so the possibilities are endless. Therefore I declare the chapter title a dizzying, head spinning, and nomination for the 2011 King of Evil Cliffhangers
