Henry_Henry2012 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 No wonder the moon was as bright as my headlights last night. I was hoping Edward would jump from the bushes so I could run him over. This reminds me American Werewolf in London. All you werewolves out there. Please clean up after you're done with eviscerating your meal. My rose bushes died last year from all the human guts and blood in my garden. And I will not tolerate all the howling in my backyard. Do you copy? 2
Kitt Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Yes, there was massive flooding. It was do to a nasty weather system stuck over Alberta and pulling all the moisture out of the States and Manitoba and Saskatchewan and when it hit the Rockies, it all came down. Add on the snow pack that usually melts over the next month slowly, it came down with all the rain and the rivers just couldn't contain it all. I took a drive today and although the river is receding back to its banks, there is still lots of communities under standing water (nasty stuff). I don't think the moon necessarily affects the jet stream, so it is innocent in my eyes Now if we stop hearing this is what we get for having pipelines and the Oil Sands and realize this happens every 100 years or so, all will be good You mean there are actually such things as natural meteorological cycles and the cave men didn't cause global warming when they discovered how to make fire thereby melting the ice age and killing off the dinosaurs???
Zombie Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) Sorry for those clouded in - bummer Cloudy across UK too but I got lucky Sat night / Sun morning 00.15 BST and saw the super moon high in the sky unobscured by clouds for about 15 mins. It was very bright - apparently 30% more than normal. Usually you can't see colour by moonlight but after about 10 mins my eyes had adjusted and I could see the red and blue colours on my shirt and read normal sized print in a newspaper (wouldn't have wanted to read the whole thing that way though ... there are aliens inside it ... I heard they like to come to earth and take water from lakes and stuff, which would make sense because there isn't any on the moon. I've never seen an alien, but I suppose I will eventually, especially if they live in the moon. They have to come out, and I'm bound to catch one sneaking around in the moonlight sooner or later. No need to worry about the little guys getting thirsty - seems there may be plenty of water on the Moon at the poles, where it's very dark and cold, where the Sun never shines http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/ice/ice_moon.html Good luck with the alien spotting - would make a cute pet Edited June 24, 2013 by Zombie

Andrea Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Those are fantastic Andrea - and I love coloured Moons. Thanks for sharing You are welcome I think I might have some more colored moon shots... Blue Moon, 8/30/2012 Colored moon... 9/15/2011 (This is actually one of my favorite moon shots) Not colored, but I love the definition in the craters. 11/7/2012 Those are so awesome, Andrea! I actually really like the yellow one. Thanks! I kinda have an obsession with photographing the moon. 2
Thorn Wilde Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Thanks! I kinda have an obsession with photographing the moon. I have a couple of decent moon photos that I've taken myself. It's a fun thing to do, but my lens only goes up to 200mm, so they're not very good. I have a friend in California who's an astronomy professor and who does some pretty amazing astrophotography, and I am so jealous of him! We're talking galaxies and nebulas and all sorts.

I need to take my telescope out more and see if I can snap some pictures of things other than the moon lol. Astrophographers are awesome! My favorite is Göran Strand, he takes some fabulous pictures http://www.astrofotografen.se/Gallery.aspx.
