I want to encourage you, Christopher P Lydon, wherever you are, to finish/post Carter's Rebellion.

My last week was spent reading through the saga so far, and I was completely engrossed. Though I grew up in the Ottawa valley and was happy to leave it, right from Army I learned to love the area again. Will and Andrew are marvelous characters that feel so real, as I identify with both of them (which is why Duty was such a difficult read); Will as self and Andrew as reflection/partner/other. For this reason Andrew's character in particular captured my heart. West as well was very in-depth and well-written, and Peter too, though I kept wanting more of Peter as the series drew on. And Brody!! I had a smile on my face whenever he appeared, especially after going back and rereading Army, and picking up on things about him I'd overlooked before.

It was satisfying for Andrew and Will to finally reconnect at the end, but please, let them have some time together in which they can truly support their next stages of growth as a team, without Will's stubbornness or Andrew's unrequited love holding them back. For the record, I appreciated Marc's relationship with Will in terms of plot - it would have been difficult for anyone to get under Will's defenses, and it was nice to see him relaxing and learning to have fun. I was, however shouting at the screen in protest when they were proposing to each other, though! Even though both Will and Andrew contain themselves, each in their own way, their individual sense of purpose supports both of them in their careers, and their bond is so much a part of who they are as people. That is what I look forward to seeing play out through the final book.

I was impressed to learn that your work is somewhat auto-biograhical, though I guess that is what gives your setting, characters and story such depth. This is quite a project you have done here (which has taught me more about hockey dynamics and Canadian political machinations than I learned in any school!) and I offer you my humble thanks as a reader, for all your hard work and persistence.

It seems you have been somewhat awol, in Cambodia?, which must have resulted in several paradigm shifts that perhaps make it difficult to pick up previous threads... especially if those threads are several years old by now. Though it may be a creative challenge to revisit, I hope you can see a near future in which those threads are brought together, and the tapestry completed. There is some fine wordcraft here, and this saga is too good for abandonment.

I hope this comment is not a kiss of death for this series - it is meant as heartfelt thanks for writing such an engrossing tale and encouragement to continue. ♡

Seems to me I should post a feedback of this story even though it's long since posted.

Well, I loved it. Like LOVED it. It's heartbreaking at times and heartwarming at others.

It will come out when I have written it.

Sorry lads, it is low priority, between work and TFB, Carter is low down the list (Fourth I believe in the order of books I have to write)

The links to the Carter books and to all other stuff of Christopher P. Lydon from the front page to the new story archive are not working.

I always get an error message similar to this:

OOPS! The page you are trying to reach: /story/Christopher%20P.%20Lydon/sigilofthewolf was not found.

Maybe it has to do with the encoding of the spaces in Christopher's name?

I spent the past several days (mainly nights) reading all seven books. I'm almost wondering if there are more to this saga that I'm not aware of (because if there is I'd love to read the rest)

This saga took on various turns I hadn't expected. The timelines were somewhat inconsistent, but I chose to ignore some of the dates so I could get on with the plot.

The high school drama -> college drama -> let's sprout into a side plot -> work drama -> let's split up the main characters -> hello politics -> hello spy novel was a great show of versatility you gave your characters to perform the way you wanted them to. With the versatility comes with its own baggage, which is that the reader may not identify with every change and twist you make about subtle or obvious changes to the character as time passes on. I believe you have enough material to still write past Book 7, and I'm sure you left it open that way so you could explore it if the opportunity arose.

I'd like to congratulate you on a wonderful series and thank you for giving me multiple nights of sleepless nights to keep on reading. Your work just attracted me to keep on reading, and the last few chapters, wanted to see how it "ended"

Spoiler -_-

I really enjoyed how Marc recognized his dependency on Will instead of being a mutual loving relationship allowed Andrew and Will to get back together, although I'd have liked to see Who Marc ended up with.

While it was clear that West would continue serving the British military, I still want to see if Peter would wait for West to come back. I really expected West to transfer like Will's dad to become a liaison officer and then retire, but then he's really too young to do that at age 22. Would Peter wait for West? Would he and Tyler develop anything? Would Peter finally come out of the closet?

Did Will win the election again? Would he take a stab at running for PM? Would he visit Britain again? West got punished for Will's escape, but how about his immediate family who lived in Britain? Did they ever track down grandpa Collins? Did Will ever find his birth mother? (it hinted his grandpa actually knew where she was) What would Lucy become in the British society?

What exactly happened between Blake and Matt to make them split? It seemed like from the last story that Blake and Matt split after Matt went off somewhere else for university. Did Matt settle for a woman? How did Blake meet Marc? Would Blake and Yani have a future together, or is Blake just continuing his self-setup of finding undatable straight guys who hadn't experimented with men before to fall for him...only to regret his decisions and run off with yet another woman?

Would Andrew continue his work at CSIS? How would his working relationship make or break his relationship (again) with Will?

Would Jared find true love? Yeah he's straight... I wouldn't mind reading through a side plot even if it's a straight romance at this point if it's in the perspective of a man at least.

And oh my god... Who The Hell Is Brody!?! I still want to see what his background is... how he developed his personality the way he is portrayed in the Saga... perhaps his upbringing... his parents (notice how his parents let him live in a different house ever since the saga started), his dealings with people... etc. I don't see how he could be a drug dealer if he can run political campaigns and plot/execute international asset rescue attempts on a whim. Is he a spy too? What role did his history all play into his personality? Would Brody settle down?

In Will's life, besides Andrew, he's always "picked up strays"... Peter had on multiple occasions said he loved Will (but it took Will clear decline to pursue such a relationship due to a teacher-student relationship with a minor...etc etc) but Will still took on Marc as a "Peter - Mark II". Every single time he took on strays, he would unconditionally provide regardless of how much he was inconvenienced. This character flaw developed back when he was a teacher ultimately shaped his willingness to unconditional acceptance (as long as they are not posing immediate danger to themselves) and give unconditional loving care. Peter had similar reactions to how later Marc reacted, but since Peter and Will never dated, the frustration never got to the point where Marc just became a liability for Will.

I believe that though he had his own character flaws, this unconditional expression of love, duty, and honor ultimately defined him as the greatest power in politics that he was portrayed as in the saga.

These questions for Topher are more for inspiration to see if you would get some ideas on how to keep the saga rolling. I'd love to read more in the future.

Thank you for a great reading experience.thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

the correct URLs should be "/christopher-p-lydon/" I've reported the issue with the problem and solution, so hopefully a moderator will fix the links. In the meantime, you can read it at http://christopherlydon.gayauthors.org/books.php.
