Alexander Phoenix Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Hey guys and gals. You're getting married, and following typical wedding procedures you have yourself a stag do or hen party. What would you be doing? Where would you go? Do gay men go to strip bars like most hetero men would?
Sasha Distan Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Hubby's "stag" was him and his two brothers - they went clay pigeon shooting, had lunch in a pub and they had a mini-LAN party with Quake. I had all my best friends (regardless of gender) for lazerquest, then dinner with ribs and fancy cocktails, then Cabaret at the Proud Ballroom (pretty people from both genders and a hoopla woman who made me question my choices in life by being super fine, but only for a moment). and then we got married and lived happily ever after, shooting our dinner in the countryside. 3

That sounds absolutely amazing!!!! Thank you!
Kitt Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Thirty two years later I still do not know - nor do I want to - what hubby's stag consisted of. My brother did the planning, and he is one crazy bugger. I never had a big to-do. Went to lunch with the small circle of what I called the besties at the time. Two of the three are still in that circle of besties, so I guess I chose pretty well.
Andy78 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Thirty two years later I still do not know - nor do I want to - what hubby's stag consisted of. What happens on a stag do stays on the stag do, Kitt A friend of mine (who is gay) had his stag in Prague. Six of us had an insane weekend there. We went to several . . . ahem . . . adult-orientated establishments . . . that saw young gentlemen displaying their wares. Since my hubby was one of the six, he definitely would not permit to have my stag in Prague. Given some of the things the two of us have gotten up to abroad in similar establishments, I would only be allowed to have my stag do in a monastery Edited January 14, 2014 by andy021278 3
Thorn Wilde Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 One thing I've never understood is the whole stag/hen night night before the wedding cliché. Like, who wants to show up broken and hungover to their own wedding? Should at least have a day to recover first.

comicfan Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Not married but been to many. The best was a close friend. Her and her hubby to be grabbed the wedding party, rented a bus, went to a casino and hung out. Food, drinks, shopping. The gays stayed with the bride while hubby had a few of his friends gamble. It was a week before the wedding and a last chance to meet and relax before the very beautiful wedding day.
Site Administrator Cia Posted January 15, 2014 Site Administrator Posted January 15, 2014 None for me. I went out for dinner with my sister in law one night and she tried to take me to an adult store to embarrass me... but yeah, big fail as I made her turn redder than a beet. Plus I was only 18 at the time and none of my friends lived within 2 hours of me, so it was pretty meh. By the time the wedding was almost there all I wanted was for it to be freaking over and hop on the plane to Maui.
Thorn Wilde Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 My cousin married a rather posh girl with American parents, so he went out for a stag night and she had a very traditional wedding shower. It felt like a slightly bizarre thing in this day and age, but then the whole affair was slightly bizarre. They got married in the old royal chapel in the Akershus Fortress and drove in a vintage Rolls Royce to the wedding reception at the Oslo Freemason's Lodge where they had a very grand three course dinner for 300 people, a ridiculous looking wedding cake, and the dress code was white tie. It was the most extravagant wedding I've ever been to, and probably ever will go to.
hh5 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 gosh I don't recall attending any stag or hen party for my siblings the closest thing to such reference was with my closest in age brother things mentioned .... more SOX=more SEX and other newly wed embarrassing activities or sexy gifts
Former Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Ummmm first off what is a Stag Do? In my part of Canada we call it a "Stag & Doe" which is basically a big pre wedding party with you and your ummm Bride. If it's 2 Lesbians we call it a Doe & Doe and if it's two gay men well then it's a Stag & Stag. Otherwise it's Bachelor/Bachelorette Party where you and your friends go to strippers get wrecked and do things you both regret in the morning and 2nd guess yourself on getting married, and a few years later find out what the other person did on their night out. Since i plan to Elope i plan to have no pre parties what so ever and just be like "Hey let's get married! and off to the Justice of the peace we'll go with 2 people and get it over with". I'll be a really cheap bride
Thorn Wilde Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 A Stag do/Stag night and Hen party/Hen night are the same as bachelor/bachelorette parties.
Site Administrator Cia Posted January 15, 2014 Site Administrator Posted January 15, 2014 If the word is meant to be pronounced 'Doh', it is spelled doe. As in a stag being a male deer then doe as in a female dear. That's the confusion. 1
Sasha Distan Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I'd prefer to be on a Stag or Doe rather than a Cock or Hen.
Aditus Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I will organize my brother's party. He'll be getting married in May. I can't say much because he lurks around here sometimes. Let's just say there will be drinking, lots of delicious food for stomach and eyes and it will happen one week before the wedding so everyone is fit and has fun without being hung-over on their day of the days.

Celethiel Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 never been married (highly unlikely too as well), don't know anything about any of my relations prewedding stuff...

I guess it might have been easier just to say Bachelor and Bachelorette. Sorry about that.
hh5 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) I like Doe n Doe but what about Kilt Doe c Doe?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs8j4AezAUQ Hmmm sorry about the confusion there. Kitt Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Now that is totally not fair - I can't get a skirt with decent pocket space but some of those kilts look like carhartt cargo pants above the flairs.
TetRefine Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 A good friend of mine who graduated last year is getting married in September, and has left it up to his best man (who's another good friend of mine) to plan the bachelor party. Considering how hard this particular best man likes to party, I can imagine it will involve at the very least a lot of booze and strippers, and god only knows what else. It should be fun. And I've never heard it called a Stag or Hen party. Here in the US they just call it a bachelor or bachelorette party, and the groom or bride basically gathers their closest friends and they go buck wild for a night since the fun all stops with marriage. Kinda like a last hurrah I guess.
Kitt Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Back before your time Matt any party that consisted of all men were referred to as stag parties and all women as Hen parties, regardless of if they were wedding related or not. Friday night poker was usually a stag party among my grandfathers crowd. I've no clue why the terms faded from use the way they have. Guess it's just the evolution of language. 1
Sasha Distan Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 the fun all stops with marriage. Other married people - please help me in proving this stereotype totally wrong. I was actually talking to a very good friend of mine about this issue the other day. We were saying that, by and large, all of us and our other stable relationship coupled friends can now think of few things worse than going out clubbing all night. My friend Tim said that once you have tested your social currency and found a mate, that generally, people stop having to test their social currency by going out and getting hit on by drunk people. generally, the love of a person you adore is more than enough to make up for blokes trying to give you their numbers. 1
