2018 Commonwealth Games

For those not in the know, the 2018 Commonwealth Games have started on the Gold Coast in Australia. The following "slightly" irrelevant articles are from one of the mainstream newspaper websites (News Ltd). I thought people would especially appreciate the first one, since it's by an openly gay reporter:

New Zealand has a transgender athlete competing in the Women's 90+kg weightlifting division. Needless to say, there are people who disagree with the decision to allow her to compete.

It's a shame that these games get very little coverage in Canada even though I'm sure we must have sent over a team. I didn't even know that the games were on until I read your thread. With the hockey play-offs about to start and the baseball season under way, nothing else seems to matter over here.

I saw it on the front page of a paper, how Camila was falling asleep and looked bored as hell at the opening ceremonies

 

Sadly, I think the North America media is focused on North American sport, and since it is the Commonwealth Games, it doesn't make the sports cycle.
