Razor Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 If you liked a short story, come talk about it in this thread. Ya know, Fin du Reves, or Somewhere Only We Know. I'll let you in on a secret... I'm planning on introducing the characters from these stories into other stories where they may or may not be the main event. So, basically, the story they appeared in may not be literarily 'it' for that character. Also, these stories are to be part of an anthology dealing with teenage life, which is currently a work in progress.
Jamie2 Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 You my friend are a work in progress! I love your work. Jim

Well i think i said in the comments how much i am looking forward to the next installment of Somewhere Only We Know. I love how you bring the true elements of life in.
Razor Posted November 15, 2006 Author Posted November 15, 2006 Well, since it was a short story, there won't be another chapter, but the characters from that story may possibly make another appearance in another story somewhere down the line.
Tiger Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I just read Scared Little Boy. It was a good one. I can see that this one has pieces of you in it. The roommate has definitely made him bitter and angry from all that happened. I also read the prom story a while back. I thought it was pretty good too. Again, I love the introspective overtones of your stories. It creates a level of realism that I really admire.
Jamie2 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Jamie, you know I have read everything you have written and love them all.Scared Little Boy is great. You have this ability to bare you're soul (yes you have one) and let us see the real you in you're writing. There is no question in my mind that you're dreams will come true. Be strong. Keep writing. LUB, Jim
CarlHoliday Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Jamie - What a wonderful story. There was a lot of heart in this one and I can tell a lot of recent experience. Just to let you know, when Boy and Girl were at his grandfather's grave the first time, I had the strangest flashback to the movie "The Grass Harp." Maybe it was the graveyard or maybe the spider lily. Your stories do that to me. Carl
AFriendlyFace Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Wow Jamie, this was really awesome! Very powerful and very moving! The grave scenes especially were wonderful and evocative. Great job! Kevin
Razor Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks guys. Glad you enjoyed it. And yeah, while in nearly all of my writing there's some inciting event or idea or overtone that I stole from my own life, a lot of it is... erm... let's say creatively adjusted. The Grass Harp? Whatzat? Never heard of it.... ~googles~
CarlHoliday Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 The Grass Harp? Whatzat? Never heard of it.... ~googles~ A nice movie adapted from a Truman Capote novel about his youth in the South. I saw Boy and Girl out in the graveyard, you now Southern graveyards have a feel to them that you can't get in a Northern cemetery, and the way the sun caught them it reminded me of a couple scenes from the movie.

I agree with you about southern graveyards! They are...better somehow, IMO. I don't know how exactly. They're either more beautiful and/or more creepy, but it's something and they do trump northern ones.
Bondwriter Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I read the story. I liked it. Bittersweet but not whiny.
