I mean if a story got over 125 likes. It's just an example, but the system has to be some type of exponentially weighted to be fair (since a story will get more reviews if it's already more reviewed, so the weight has to be a reciprocal of the exponentially multiples to make it linear). Just a proposal. The final system can be modified to be more fair. I don't have the general stats with me (like on average a story gets how many hits), so I don't know how much weight would make things seemingly fair. Just a possibility, not absolute rule.

I also don't like the "like cap".... If over-inflate an author's rep is a concern (some authors are just more popular than others, which is fine, but not very encouraging to new authors), maybe they can make a system where first 5 likes weight more than, let's say, the next 25 likes (with only 75% of the weight), and the next 125 likes will weight even less (each like only worths 1/2 of the original vote). Something like that.

I know, girls just want to have fun. We used to listen to that song a lot back when I was working in retailing, folding clothes during closing.

Name your favourite gay movie. What did you like best about it?

Added to queue. Wish I could do my hair like that. I don't know how to do my hair.... The guy really looks like River Phoenix, with a touch of James Dean. -

That reminds me of a German film called "The Consequence" (Die Konsequenz). One of the oldest movies ever made about homosexuality. Also slow paced, but it's REALLY REALLY good. I think one of the scenes the guy forced the gay man to commit an unconsented sexual relation with a girl who went mad. Very sad. I'll keep that movie you mentioned in mind. Ooh, pretty hair. The guy reminds me of River Phoenix! That guy was cool. Died too young. -
It's a wonderful song by Mr. Rogers. Yes, it's a kid's song, but the meaning of it hits me harder as an adult. Don't know how people here remember this remarkable person. If you're too young to remember him, his lessons of life transcend time, so I want to pass his message on. Please click to see that heart-warming clip on top right corner and sing along if you want. It's You I Like

Cool, Yettie. Yeah, handicapped people have dreams and horny desires too. I didn't have the privilege as you who had a special friend like Ian who can make you experience things first hand. I do remember I used to have a crush on a marine guy, and I thought if he came home in a wheel chair, I probably would still love him. Actually I thought I would be happy take a trip with him, though I would have to push wheel chair around if that's the case. Anyways, good entry. British people are nice. Be proud.

Okay, that's fine. No need for big explanation. Just a simple check and balance thing, which I do once a while. I tend to read a lot into the novel like between lines and stuff, which is why I read so slowly.... Yes, Salinger is a mean old man with some Lolita complex, which is what I read from biography about him anyways.... Anyways, it's not about him, but about his book, which I also like a lot (Bret Easton Ellis, the author of American Psycho is kind of mean too. He said mean stuff about Salinger when he died..., so lack of respect...). I also like Holden, just because he is like someone you could have met on the street, which is all more interesting, because the book was written like 50+ years ago.

I don't mean you're asking him to quit, but anyways.... Gosh, let's not .

Some people don't realize when they move up to a higher position, it comes with higher responsibility. I think the management has to be pretty bad to be able to have such unauthorized purchase, but then it's not unique to your organization. No, you can't save them, because you ain't superman. I tried to save some people, but it didn't help my career. So as much as we'd love to be saints, choose wisely. If your CEO couldn't understand his intemperance in using money has a consequence of costing other people's lives, there is nothing you can make him learn to be a better human being. Some executives do earn their positions, but some are purely up there through fate (and they don't know how lucky they are). I might side with Y_B that you can always quit, but just remember, it didn't help my career one bit. If you defy to "lay off" 20 people, they'll just find another person to "fire" you and lay off the 20 people (lay off and fire are different. You fire someone who has done misconduct. "Lay off" is a result of reorganization, the person isn't stigmatized with labels. People who are laid off gets benefits after release. Fired person gets nothing).

It's kind of ironic you made a reference to The Catcher in the Rye. So the guy was in AA.... That could possibly mean his alcoholism was so problematic and possibly he made some irreversible mistakes (went to jail for being a drunken driver) because of it, that he felt a need to preach. Lots of cigarette quitters do the same (or any type of reformers, because they learned some really hard life lessons). While I think it's a little "party pooper" behavior, and he shouldn't do it unsolicited, but I believe he thought he was trying to be a catcher in the rye, except you and others probably think he is a phony.... Maybe I shouldn't be a catcher, now I think of it. Some people might call me a phony.... Anyways, I suggest you read Holden's characterization more carefully. He might have called other fakes and phonies, but he was a phony himself. After realism movement in literature, characters often have flaws, just like real human beings you see in the world (come on, who doesn't have flaws? At least we're improving ourselves). Yes, LA is a concrete garden. I used to think SF is pretty sad with all those homeless people around. After I visited LA, I think LA is a little sadder with all the plastic culture. But wait until you see NY. LA is pretty decent compared with NY. That place is just sad, with all the people trying to convince how happy/successful they are when I can't see any glow on their faces.... (Novels like The Catcher in the Rye and American Psycho took place in NY, not without reasons)

Cool. Thanks. I can't believe nobody posted 80's oldies didn't mention Eurythmics yet! Annie Lennox rocks! among other from the Eurythmics are: I Save the World Today Shame (both original and dance mixes are good) I've Got a Life Here Comes the Rain Again Posted Sweet Dreams because, well, it's their signature, but all listed are very excellent. A slightly less heavy-hearted is Petula Clark

Cool. Hope you get some good result with your writing class. Sounds like pretty good you've laid out everything.

No biggie, mate. Your blogs are always a nice read with so many great lessons to be learned from them. You always write them in a positive way also. I don't know about others, but I find your stories very relatable and know exactly what you mean by them, even the details not overtly written out. Maybe our backgrounds are similar enough, that I could get someone's drifts like that. I am not a dog person, but even with that I could get the point from your analogy (your analogies are usually pretty effective).

Cool. May you have many returns. -
Yes, no one is perfect. I think if two people are truly in love, they could overlook many small details (though they do recognize them). Nice blog entry.

LOL! I know, I limited my list also.... There are so many to choose.... I could list some songs from 50's also.... Lots of Chet Baker jazz standards are there among my favorites. My Funny Valentine, I Fall in Love Too Easily, among them. And then there is Moon River sung by Audrey. My favorite Beetles is John Lennon though.... Nice surfer music! I was actually listening to Vangelis the other day, Romance Theme from Blade Runner.... Then it reminds me of Edge of Seventeen (I watched that movie too many times), which i thought Erik was probably trying to do some Vangelis type of music in one of the sequence... (it was the 80's after all).
