  1. which means this is a cliffhanger!
  2. This is actually the time of year I dislike the most because it is usually the most hot and humid. Heat and humidity combined = stickiness. I actually prefer winter. When it's cold, you can layer up as much as you like until you get to your desired body temperature and sip your piping hot coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. In the summer, after you get down to a t-shirt and shorts, there's not much you can do to cool off in public other than just drinking a lot of water. That plus I like to ski and snowboard. Can't do that in the summer unless you go really far up north.
  3. We have lost a great, energetic, passionate, and optimistic leader. He is probably single-handedly responsible for changing the NDP from a small political party with less than 20 seats in the House of Commons into the Official Opposition of Canada with 102 seats as of the time of this post. Reading some of the comments on the CBC webpages, it is clear that he was a leader who has commanded respect across all political party lines, even those who disagree with his politics. In his last letter to Canadians, at the end, he wrote: He was optimistic to the very end. Faced with little time left, he found the strength to write a extraordinarily selfless letter, even urging other cancer sufferers not to give up hope even though his own was running out. (see the first post for the link). He will have a very well deserved state funeral on Saturday, a rare honour normally reserved for current or former Prime Ministers and Governor Generals, or sitting members of Cabinet. R.I.P. Jack Layton and condolences to his family and friends.
  4. This is my opinion on hetero marriage. As for gay marriage, I agree that those who want to do so, should be able to do so.
  5. nooooooooo...cheese will turn him into super hamster! Our SWAT team is already stretched to the limit! Now we need to call in the National Guard....**sigh**
  6. Another hamster has been spotted! This one is vicious and will eat your broccoli! Keep your broccoli away from this one! This one is the mastermind and is known to invade innocent people's homes to get to the broccoli in the kitchen. Hamster-proof your home! Tune in for our late night broadcast to learn how to hamster-proof your home. This hamster has an accomplice. He is known to hack secure government websites such as the United States Senate and the Department of State! He is wanted for treason against the United States! A second accomplice has been known to rob pet stores at gunpoint, attempting to free their brethren. The human harbouring this hamster in this photo will also be prosecuted at the fullest extent of the law for harbouring hamster terrorists! Do not approach any of these 3 hamsters! All 3 are armed and dangerous and should only be dealt with using a tactical strike team! Their team goes by the alias of Al-Hammstr. This is a secret hamster terrorist organization plotting to seek revenge for putting their brethren in cages and forcing them in hamster wheels to produce electricity for key corporations. They must be dealt with at all costs! The number of casualties are still unknown at this time. Call your nearest law enforcement agency as soon as possible if you spot any of them.
  7. BEWARE OF THE HAMSTER!!! Please note that this hamster is ARMED AND DANGEROUS. If you spot him, call law enforcement immediately and they will send a SWAT team. He was last spotted robbing a pet food store at gunpoint!! Do not approach this hamster! I repeat, he is armed and dangerous!! Also Wanted: Terrorist Turtle for attacking human. Call law enforcement immediately if you spot it!
  8. My first thought was that this was one of The Onion's articles. Apparently not. It looks like we have been transported back to the...18th(?) century. Where's the time machine when we ACTUALLY need it?
  9. So...i'm the resident phoenix. Well, one of the resident phoenixes. I set things on fire when my wings get a bit too warm and my throat a little too itchy. (no, not really.). Try to steal my crown :king: (http://www.gayauthor...t-post-wins-14/) and you get whacked with my wings. No, really, I'm a struggling college student trying to make ends meet. Trying to be a pilot with all those ridiculously high flight fees. Been here since September 11th (i swear it was a coincidence) last year, and have been reading (sometimes lurking ), chatting and posting ever since. I'm kinda shy IRL but then I let all my frustrations out online - usually in the soapbox. Anyone who has ever read my soapbox posts know what I mean. And no, I am not perpetually angry. (Though enter the soapbox at your own risk! ) And yes, I know I overuse the " " emoticon. Sue me. :P :P Edit: and the edit feature too.
  10. Happy Birthday Cia! You share a birthday with my sister heheh...
  11. I want to see Detroit restored to its former glory...like how Chicago is now.
  12. British media problems again? News Corp wasn't enough?
  13. Agreed. 10/10 from me
  14. You are a Wolf! (your score: 21) Characters: Marek, Alanka, Kerza, and Kara in the Aspect of Crow trilogy and "Storm Reaper"; Lance in "The Wild's Call" Powers: Stealth, hunting ability, enhanced senses of smell and hearing, as well as strength and stamina "Family comes first" could be a Wolf's motto. You form deep connections with close friends and family members, and they know you'd do anything to protect them. You're loyal, devoted, and passionate. Your worst fear is being alone, but be careful not to drown your loved ones in too much emotion. Best matches: Swans, Otters, Crows Watch out for: Spiders, Owls, Foxes
  15. I am just...speechless. All my preconceptions about who were responsible have been thrown right out the window. This is a lesson that we, myself included, could learn from...
  16. I have been wondering why I keep getting telemarketing calls.
  17. Whether or not the violent rioters feel that their actions are justifiable, this is not the way to do it. The people should present their views in a civil and intelligible fashion because right now, the world is just thinking how those "bored" people are the bane of society and that they should all be put in jail. Have you noticed there is no clear reason for the riots? Some may indeed be looting just for the sake of looting to get that elusive oh-so-shiny 40" LED HDTV. But some people may have grievances against the government or some other group of people. We don't know! That is part of the problem! We don't know what they are rioting for, defeating the purpose of the riots in the first place! I can't pin this solely on the people either. I have seen many times that whenever a peaceful protest is made, it is ignored. The government needs to at least acknowledge their views and remember first and foremost who are the people who put them in their job position in the first place. As we know, baby boomers around the world are beginning to leave the workforce and going into retirement. It is inevitable, but I think this is where most of the problems stem from. Will the financial burden be placed solely on the shoulders of Generation X and Y?
  18. There are conflicting reports as to whether Mark Duggan was armed. If indeed Mark was armed and shooting (but missed) at an officer (there was a bullet lodged in a radio), then yes, I believe the shooting was warranted. Unfortunate, yes, but why would he be shooting at an officer in the first place? If Mark was NOT armed, then there is a problem. Why did police shoot at an unarmed man? Yes, he is known to police for dealing with drugs and guns, but that is no reason to fire at someone who is unarmed, unless they are fleeing. Some people said it was racially motivated. I'm not buying it. Some people are too quick to jump on the racially-motivated bandwagon whenever a black guy is involved in some crime. I believe it started off as a peaceful protest that turned ugly fast. Possibly from anarchists and opportunists looking for free loot or publicity, and more joining in amidst the chaos. There was something similar that happened here in Toronto during the G20 protests, on a slightly smaller scale. It started off peaceful, but again those anarchists and opportunists took advantage of the situation. (Most infamous picture being the burning police car in the middle of an intersection). However, sometimes police go overboard as they did in Toronto by the way they arrested people en masse. There was a second peaceful protest to protest the police brutality and some officers were charged. I can't really say whether this is some deja vu of the G20 or if it's something different entirely. We shall wait and see...
  19. In some very well written stories that I have read, I can feel the chemistry brewing between the characters. If this chemistry is missing, or it's too early in the story to get an impression of what the character's traits are (unless it's a major plot point), I sometimes just skim over the sex scenes. I usually try to visualize guys who appeal to me when reading stories, but if the author has me visualizing someone who would be a turn-off, I sometimes skim over those scenes too, but scanning for some plot point hidden in the scene.
  20. The Haunting. *shiver* The Ring. *shivers and hides* Paranormal Activity. *runs away* Edit: Fixed movie name from Haunted to The Haunting
  21. CJ is the undisputable King of Cliffhangers. So much so that he should be promoted to Emperor or High King and allow others to be voted in as King of Cliffhangers.
  22. Check for mail, lock the door, hang up key ring on the wall. If I get any mail, it goes on the foyer table until I have time to look at it. If I plan on staying home for the rest of the day/night, I take off my street clothes and just lounge around in my boxers or with a pair of shorts. (Benefits of living alone. ) If I feel grimy, I add a shower to the routine. Then I usually grab a drink from the fridge and open my laptop.
  23. This is why any statistical figure on how many people are gay can never be completely accurate. There are gay people there that would say they were straight if they were ever asked that question. Believe me, I've been there. There are straight men out there who find themselves fantasizing about getting it on with another guy. Yet he has a wife and kids at home, and he is genuinely happy. Would you classify him as gay? Bisexual? Bi-curious? Irredeemably horny? What if a gay man in a man-man relationship fantasizes about women? Or a lesbian woman in a woman-woman relationship fantasizes about men? Both genuinely happy and the fantasy is just that. What happens then? What if they're not happy and choose to pursue the opposite sex? Did they just turn straight? Bi? Our society is so pre-occupied with labelling everything, that we lose our individuality in the process. The little things that make each and every one of us unique is lost in our chaotic society of lazy, instant gratification, want-it-now and not 0.1 milliseconds from now age. Because it's easier to label people. Human nature. Path of the least resistance. But I would be hypocritical if I said that I didn't do it. We all do it. We do it subconsciously, putting people into brackets, letting our first impressions judge people until something else exciting about them piques our senses. It's one of those things that are at the very core of our society. Oh well. </end rant>
  24. This will be very useful in my freshman year at university. Thank you Myr!
