  1. I prefer series because I think it gives the story more depth. However, like many others have said, if the series goes on for too long, people lose interest because it becomes too diluted with repeating events. That doesn't mean I won't read standalone stories though. I think it all boils down to a quality over quantity kind of thing. A standalone can be better than a series if it is very well written, though i'm guessing that it would be easier to create more depth in a series than in a standalone story. For series, I tend to prefer trilogies. Such as the Matrix, Bourne, and the LOTR trilogies. I think it also helps when an author writes many stories that are based within the same universe, but can be read independently.
  2. Great!! Congrats GA!
  3. Sorry, but no. I find shopping to be a chore, except for electronics when I have enough money.
  4. Oh dear...typically there is at least 1 guy from each story that I have read, that I want to date.....sigh... I don't know where to start..

  6. Love Loyalty Friendship Hope Trust Integrity Freedom Happiness Care-free Health (in no particular order)
  7. Oh man.... I'm pretty sure I would want to relive more than just a few moments from my last high school in Nova Scotia for the purpose of hopefully changing the outcome. If I had to choose one though, it would be graduation. I never did get the chance to get any phone numbers that day for the purpose of keeping in touch. By the time I did manage to get back in touch with them via Facebook approximately 4 years later, I didn't know how to talk to them any more. *sigh* Another would probably be in 1994 (i think) when my parents gave me a choice to either stay in Canada and go to a boarding school or move with them to Hong Kong. The years in Hong Kong were so tumultuous that I wish that I chose to stay in Canada...I returned to Canada in 2002 on my own, and since then, I have slowly gotten back on track...
  8. hmm... Probably video games, internet, and anything aviation/flying related...
  9. I've been to NYC once and I'd very much like to go back when I get some extra money. I'd like to also visit major cities in Western Europe.
  10. Sad movies aren't really enough to make me cry. They just make me really moody. However, the saddest Hollywood movie I've ever watched would probably be either Brokeback Mountain or LOTR: ROTK
  11. I rooted for the Packers from the start even though the only football I watch is the Superbowl... Hockey on the other hand..... It was a close game all the way through I think even though the Packers kept the lead all the way. It was hilarious when Aguilera flunked the national anthem. I picked it up right away. I think she did too in the middle of the line because she kinda mumbled the last word of it.
  12. I will definitely buy an e-reader if it has all ...or at least most of my future university textbooks in it. I know all too well how it is to lug around 3-4 large textbooks all over campus.
  13. I don't like the look of bow ties either. Ties for me.
  14. I think it's also important to be fully financially independent if you aren't already. There really isn't much harm in waiting to tell someone (even if their time is almost up....with some exceptions..), but there is a tremendous risk if you tell someone too early.
  15. I have never caught any flak for being Canadian when I'm in the U.S., but then again, I'm a dual citizen of both countries... After all, we share the longest undefended border in the world and we are major political, trading, and military allies.
  16. The absolute most important thing is trust and integrity. Lack of any is an instant disqualification. I'm probably looking for someone more outgoing than I am to offset my reserved personality. Since I like traveling, it would also be nice to find someone who have the same interest as I do so we can travel the world together. I have never even been on a date so I really don't know much beyond that...
  17. I've tried many kinds of cuisines but I haven't tried vegemite yet... It can't be that bad....can it?
  18. I read stories more and more often now as a form of escapism too...to take my mind off my current situation and immerse myself into the main character. That is why I very much prefer a happy ending. (The protagonist lives, BF (if applicable) lives, along with his most inner circle of friends, antagonist dies/is neutralized/switches sides) If not, I tend to be kinda grumpy for the rest of the day. (or week, depending on how much time I spent reading and how immersed I get)
  19. I haven't really been following this Egypt incident until very recently. I understand the people are demanding the president to resign, but why?
  20. We had whiteout conditions here in Toronto this morning. There were so many things closed across the city I decided to stay in today.
  21. Ugh...the problems just keep stacking up for Australia. I hope people do heed the warnings and evacuate and I hope they get out in time. This has every potential to be a catastrophe of Katrina proportions.

  24. I read about that too... so very sad... Rest in peace, hero.
  25. Hmm... Virgo to Leo. Interesting.
