How much cookie dough actually gets cooked?

Excellent, the first of new friendships beyond his family and foster family ties; though guided and facilitated in this placement much will still depend on Karl himself. His poor and, given the age differences, somewhat only child upbringing it’s a good quality that keeps him more calm and rational when many times now his world has been anything but rational. It’s hard to say what the officer is thinking: did he pause to see if Karl was already contemplating escape, was it to reflect upon the oversight or enlistment requested by Arthur, or was it more of his own evaluation of Karl whether professional fitness or personal interest? Then again, it may even be his own reflection of this youth, all youth, facing this cruel reality of war. More fundamentally is the question of Karl’s educational adaptiveness; will Karl be able to learn in a more structured, cross cultural and language environment for a more technically advanced operating environment. Karl has shown us quick thinking, learning, and observing skills, but much of that has been in a coached or demonstrated environment. Now problem solving and reactive thinking will be challenged; where some may even resist coaching as it gives them a sense of aiding a lesser capable person to hold a position their life may depend upon.

I grew up more exposed to being invited into others houses while being a paperboy with weekly then later on monthly collections. Teens that would fit the old “you can dress them up, but you can’t take them out” amazed me that they didn’t connect how rude to stand in someone’s house insulting them or their guests; my response would have been like, hey, their house, their choice, and if you don’t like it you might better leave before you never get another invite. While the following may seem rude by some, disrespectful behavior is always grounds for shutting down a teen party…yet Alec as the offended was more considerate of Finn than his “normal friends” were. “It’d be rude to leave all your guests.” “They’re gone. I asked my brother-Milo-to make them leave.” Alec rolled back onto his side as he heard Finn take a breath, “Please? I don’t like how you left.” To that I say way to go Finn, with friends like that who needs enemies!

Chapter 8 - An Arrangement
Philippe commented on Salander's story chapter in Chapter 8 - An Arrangement
Oh my, Meg is an attention and status freak so, yeah, expect major drama as her critics enjoy her own embarrassment…remembering that she basically begged for this lie, but will surely throw Jake under the bus to make this out as a betrayal of her. Jake is indeed in dangerous territory as having a leg on both sides of the fence usually results in getting racked…oh “my precious.” The hook is already set as Nic has seen the lingering looks that usually hints of taking a path towards befriending interest or a hookup…Nic just leapfrogged to option to public BJ hookup. So yes, the Jake is the moth flying into the flames of a demoralized and self deprivating social outcast. Nic can’t see his own self-worth when family, peers, and society appear to be united against him. Ironically, I see the attraction they see in each other; longing interest beyond lust and attention that’s more respectful than a turnstile. 😂 But I could see the health of Nic improving if he should find true acceptance from Jake; if Jake can find himself while teaching Nic to accept himself. The quirky awkward but irresistible relationship reminds me of the ole commercial of “cuckoo for cocoa puffs.” Well now the suspense turns into a preordained sexual cliffhanger…another case of literary edging? Ah yes, caught within his own trap of sexual prowess, where the exposure has giving him the unexpected…feelings! -
Now the question is, was this turning incidental given to lust or was there a preconceived plan to turn ITUMAK; ironically Aaron blames Itumak but the interest in Aaron by the palace may have made ITUMAK a victim as a means to the Elf who would be Prince. Maybe the man was not part of a movement but he preyed upon a minor orphan and turned that orphan without consent or disclosure. Either way, it would seem that the man that brought on the palace turnings will be found.

Maddox is like: While Jonathan is like: But that lustful fulfillment is still not a fast pass or ride share agreement. These boys have a lot of talking to do before get their frequent flyer memberships; you only get credit if you complete the segments and no bonus unless you complete the trip. Jonathan’s background is much different than Maddox’s, he stepped outside the lines of social dignity, exposed his heart to someone it seems that didn’t stand with him when the highfalutin socialites grimaced with disdain at the stains upon their generations of only the finest family silver. Jonathan was raised well, but within narrow social constructs; now tossed to the curb with a traumatic battered and bused experience, there is no doubt he has a lack of trust of family, friends, and acquaintances. Being betrayed and cast aside so freely could easily have him withdrawing into his crystalis before learning and experiencing the world as others know it. The oddity of Maddox, he may be the catalyst for Jonathan to truly abandon the cocoon of Jonathan past; to spread new wings with beauty unseen before. Maddox is more caring than his carefree facade would indicate; perhaps it’s not as carefree as it is, just confidence and independence. I don’t believe Maddox is the irresistible flame of death, just unzip that ferocious bear covering, and you have a plush care-bear with a little heart that says Jonathan on it. ❤️

The tear is not for Bruce but rather the fact that Bruce was too chicken shit to look the victims in the eye, apologize, and beg sincerely for forgiveness. Instead, he only said what he did to justify his actions in avoiding his and his family’s own embarrassment. While the town may need to heal, no lessons are being learned by all those that harbored, and aided Bruce at the costs of more pain to all the many victims of his crimes. Bruce’s death relieved those criminals of the charges that needed to be brought. The watered down article went too far, passively forgiving the townspeople of hatred and crimes against fellow townspeople and humanity. The healing is not real, it’s only a calming of emotions by the perceived problems of people harboring hatred. A truly sad moment for the town, as no healing has been accomplished. Hate and abused is propagated by abusers, Bruce likely spawned more abusers and the lesson learned is just don’t get caught or eliminate those victims rejecting compliance to their whims. I afraid now the healing is more of returning to the old norm of a more subdued balance of hatred.

The last developmental update on the longevity of the stink ass pill was 72 hours, so even if the young shifter persona holds true, the clock is ticking without a game plan to dose Elijah for continuing scent; also, how will they view his scent not showing the fears of an abducted young teen shifter? Could the young dining hall friend possibly come into play? Hopefully the plan has layers of added security for tracking and/or alerting the Sentinels; his phone was there in his hand and awareness of the heist was there…, but was it with enough warning for the panic button alert? Who will be in the handcuffs when the conversation turns to knowing they have a problem? Will their primary senses be fooled enough to allow time before the more aware wolf senses kick in to the …what you see, is NOT WHAT YOU GET! 72 hours later… Hey, this kid doesn’t stink at all!

On quick dial with the PM? 😝 I have to believe that Dr Archer disclosed him as on site once again but that seems to reinforce the notion of being the point man. Clearly, Carson does see boyfriend potential in Emmanuel, but Jonas seems to be inserting himself into Carson’s guarded life; whether Jonas just wants a friend and shares the passion, or is friend interested in passion…if he even realizes what is tugging him towards Carson. At least Jonas makes the effort to contribute while participating in this venture. EARTHQUAKE, LET’S PANIC! WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ME THAT I CANNOT PANIC IF I WANT TO YOU YOUNG KID? 😂 “This is Mr Carson Newton, the famous Volcanologist, so yes he does know what he is talking about,” Emmanuel said in reply, and I just smiled and nodded my head, “You are? Please what do we do?” Hmmm 🧐, don’t listen to panicking fools? Excuse me while the kid advises the PM. Hahaha 🤪

Not me, as the third boy with young parents I knew when the older brothers may squabble or draw the attention away from me it was time to explore and be curious; quiet but focused. As I got into my teens that curiosity had me caught one day as dad came home unexpectedly for lunch…very rare. I was 13yo, had my short legs and feet in the engine compartment of the family’s 1967 Impala, though dad was allowed mileage for personal use on the company car. As dad drove up I had just unbolted the distributor shaft, head, and plug wires to have a dangling scepter of my mechanical prowess. DAD WAS NOT AMUSED 😒! 😝 I did tell him with all my 13 years of confidence and skills that I had found the problem, knew the steps, and had talked to Mr Jimmy at the parts store to have agreement that I was on the right (correct) path. Dad was still not amused and left shaking his head knowing that car would need towing or a house call from our mechanic friend. I cleaned up my greasy hands and moved the 1955 Plymouth to the front driveway in prep for mom to take me on my parts run…do you sense my independence and fear-nothing teen approach? With failed parts in hand I walked in, barefoot, shirtless, with only my normal southern boy jean cutoff shorts, and up to the counter where Mr Jimmy stood smiling. I sucked and blew air through that rubber tube to demonstrate how the vacuum canister was a gapping leak in the car’s spark advance system, of course my eyes must have been waiting for his confirming agreement that I was indeed a qualified mechanic. 🤦♂️ Compliments of my paper route monies, I returned with that replacement part and a full tuneup kit of plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and points, I returned to reassemble and tune the high performance 327cu V-8. Dad returned from work and somewhat ignored my presence on the sofa as I awaited his completion of his weekly sales report. Then he asked, “Do I need to call the mechanic?” Totally puzzled why he had not understood what I had explained at lunch, I asked if he was ready to take it for the test drive…of course, I had already been around the block! 😛 with brows raised he askingly exclaimed it runs?? The test run was a big success and dad paid back my $23 for parts. Thereafter, I somewhat became the family mechanic for the family car and as the brothers got their cars; that was my ride share for school transportation. When asked by friends, which knew i always test drove my cars after working on them, isn’t your neighbor a cop and does he know you’re drive around the block? I answered yeah, he asked if I could help him this coming Saturday with the brakes on his Ford Maverick! Dad enjoyed knowing if I was missing that I was probably under some car hood or fender…but he learned to ask if the car was available for the trips before assuming it wasn’t jacked up with work in progress! Oh my life as a young teen…what else was I going to do, dream of sitting around playing…board (bored) games! Yup, as the third child, I learned well to not attract attention…there was more fun and adventure; to operate separate from the chaos of older brothers! Hahaha 🤣

What non-adult supervised teen party ever occurred without drama? 😝 Broken dishes, vases, windows, fences, etc,… If it can be swung on, at, tested by just how many can fit, or… With the confidence of teens: Dobermans on the inside, chihuahuas on foreign soil when exposed to getting a special someone’s attention; that’s not home schooled either! Why do teens socialize in packs…mutual support? courage? to feel less awkward? 😝 Until it humps your leg in public, then teens will never let you live down your unrequited love!

Gays boys and magnets are much the same, one totally unaware of the other until close enough that the magnetic flux (gaydar) aligns the poles (ahem…) so the heads and tails just naturally come together as if one and inseparable until forced apart.
-
Just what every gay boy needs, comfort and counsel on demand, a repair kit for the naked gay heart; so vulnerable, so exposed, so easily betrayed by the very person once thought worthy to handle a very important and personal part of your soul. Whether these boys survive the initial excitement of like minds to develop more true feelings or just become mutually supportive kindred spirits, this is bound to be a positive grow moment in their formative years.

The reality of war service; training and pay documentation requires the unique who are you, with misfortune who do we notify and in honor of service all info needed for a proper marker. No doubt the underlying personality of Karl shall shine through doubts and the unfamiliar. Karl has focus to critique his current standing and needs for study; commendable for his displacement challenges, age and language, and all that unknowns of Dane and adopted family. Study Karl, study; the true measure of the tests to come is your mortality and that of life as you knew it and desire it to return.

Oh my, I hope dad is not missing only to act rashly as the wheels of justice try to catch up with unwilling participants. Surely the anguish and frustration of what could have been, but never to know other than a family lifetime of dysfunction…, that is torturous if unable to accept and move on. Donnie was vague, but was it intentional? to protect Tim when the not knowing is perhaps the only way to see family healing and to protect those so wronged long ago? The true costs may be steep but ultimately the final solution. At this time, prayers for the family may be the best one can do. Oh yes, Stephen has it bad while being held by little hands and hearts, and so too does Tim but for the preoccupation/distraction of Bruce’s cancer on society. The wheels are rolling towards needing a family vehicle, but will that be a sedan, van, or bus? 🤪 Tim’s confession of never splitting up siblings in adoption may come in to play as just who determines boundaries on the bonds of blood and hearts of little ones?

Chapter 34: The Danish Gambit – Part I
Philippe commented on C. Henderson's story chapter in Chapter 34: The Danish Gambit – Part I
It would seem he makes the distinction as Ciprian “knows” he is the head of the Carandini family…he was/is the rightful regent to the Kingdom until Vincent no longer needs him…which will never come. However, he never wanted any stately officiating duties, so Vincent, take care of that while I tend to the needs of our reign of power. Even Vincent knows this but finds it hard not to bow to the elder of the family while trying so hard to maintain a more stately presence for his reign. The Ciprian Cancer is malignant and must be removed for the host to survive. While killing Ciprian would be shocking for Vincent, any other meaningful accountability would discredit Vincent and the family and probably weaken the new government enough to bring upheaval and no real winners to rule. Unlike Neo which was drugged for result in his challenge, but remained redeemable, neither Deadnus nor Ciprian or redeemable, but only one can be isolated from continuing to be a menace. Deadnus has been blatant in her public displays of excessive privileges of office and resources. Once severed from office and power, her grasp on tyranny will be beyond her reach and beyond any true influence over the new government. -
