With the hypothesis on the origins of these shift related slave trades coalescing with poor Reilly’s first turn, he is forced to continually relive his own history of trauma and pain; now suffering even increased emotional guilt for the sins of his father and family. The new pack, pack members, mates, family, and friends seem to bond quickly and should help heal the shared burdens of past and those yet to be revealed. It’s refreshing to see the reunion complete with Reilly’s younger sister. At least there are a few blessings even before the trials awaiting the sentinels. Follow the money trail, if it leads to the council then blackmail or hostages are less likely, but the money should reveal much of the network and how the council has been absent in protecting their future…and the veil; ironically, the criminal greed endangers the criminals too. It’s just another version of the yellow fever…greed for gold will lead you to kill and then get you killed @kbois, you have a unique way of revealing things that go bump in the night (or shadows of obscurity).

Hmmm 🤔, so the “straight bad boy” teases Jonathan of fantasies involving Maddox…yet Maddox “date shames” the gay boy into the homoerotic cock fight; so Maddox, when thinking of Jonathan, what number on the Kinsey Scale do you find yourself? The ugly truth yet unaddressed, or to be established, is was the event with Reilly a trigger starting this chain…or was Reilly’s event line just happenstance, that luckily gives the Sentinels much enlightenment, in a long but building wave of high crimes that transcends humanity to threaten the veil? Reilly’s painful history and testimony indicates most probably a prior understanding of shifters. Daddy Dearest could not commit his own blood to “live” that continuous existence of denigration; so Reilly was left broken “beyond healing” and therefore for dead. All indications are that this is a long established network of perverted predators that more recently blossomed into profiting from their own twisted existence and knowledge of the shifters. @scrubber6620, the corrupt Council “theory” does have a certain high confidence worthy of investigating and testing; Sentinels beware, and/or incorporate this theory into any communications or conduct with the council. The very nature that brings forth the Sentinels is a data point supporting the Council is either corrupt or inept.

Yay, it’s sad that Ridley is feel hurt, betrayed. But even in the moments following that exposure, the broken promise, Ridley immediately calls the betrayer. He admits the restlessness of not wanting to be at home, yet he also admits he had no where else to go…but yet he did, to the one person that sees through his pain and isolation. Gabe regrets that it’s hurting Ridley, but when all is said and done, Gabe still agrees with mom that Ridley is living a half-life; and he so wants more for Ridley…with Ridley. I don’t think Gabe would change anything…the betrayal has cracked the Great Wall of Ridley, it made Ridley call him, and brought Ridley out into the night. Yes, Ridley is confused, restless, and unfocused in his own game for full life, his life. Gabe will be rewarded for dragging Ridley into this game, and he may have a tough game to play before the final score. Given the offensive plays that brought Gabe’s opponent back for counter offense, with Ridley now having the ball 🏀, there is no way he is walking off the court in this matchup.

OMFG, Suman wants help, sees the truth of Dimian first hand, and yet he waits until now to disclose that the one beacon of light, pun included, in the region is being targeted for annihilation. With such good intelligence, if proven true, perhaps a synchronous jump to Illiath to assassinate the assassins before the eyes of their targets. One misfit pairs relationship is on the mend, hopefully so is another. Maybe Talon needs sparring practice with Eon & Wren! 😝 …lots of blood and bones involved for non-combat. Wyn may surprise us all in laying out a little punishment unique to is Druid…roots? Geez…more puns. @Demiurge, what have you done, blood and bone, bruised and battered, the misfits are re-conditioning themselves for things to come 🙊; whom to trust, and just who are the true enemies…. The toils of war; you can’t really go forward or go back, you have to think anew and be prepared for the inevitable setbacks. The Hopkins clan have all been most fortunate in this attack; surviving a near direct hit on the house, with others taking over in bunkers, and then to reunite within hours…remarkable. Karl is now able to better understand his father’s desires for him to leave the hostile invasion / war zone to seek safety where thought to be a given; he cares, he loves him, he gives him encouragement even from afar in time and distance, Likewise, Karl realizes he would not have survived without the strength and support of his English family; the Hopkins, including the recovering George. But what to do now, how to support the efforts to defeat the boches, or send then packing. Karl is coming into his own as he now needs purpose and it looks like he is determined to fined a way to help. Perhaps sticking to what you know best country boy. The nutritional needs of a world war torn society is about to become a very important job; skills that many Londoners no longer possess, especially those still too young and now roaming without focus and soon to lose will. Grand-mama really wants kids…, where and when will these kids start sprouting? War creates new families as now Karl sees why and how; will this be his new charge? … While George heals the physical injuries? @LittleCherryBlossom26, war is a cruel reality, but portrayed here as a reflection of both the macro and micro aspects of human society when too many or swayed to judge; only to find they too are now be judge as out of favor….large scale version of the Salem witch trials. 🤦‍♂️

What a touching follow up to the previous chapter and the break out events for Ridley; he doesn’t even realize which train he’s on or his destination, but he seems to be buckling up for the ride, while the conductor may get full fare. Wow 😮 , hopefully no miscues at the switching station or this could be a nasty train wreck. Not likely to be a problem as Gabe just gets better with too much compassion to inflict pain. @krista, thank you for another touching installment.

Became adopted son of Dimian Duke Kalian Zusammen and Prince Talon Valoren of Dleth, brother to Lyrah Valoren and cousin to Prince Suman) Though many children inherited or falling in care of Royals became wards of the realm or state, Wyn is adopted as their son. As a son of the Duke he could be known as a Marquis (as an eldest son), Earl (probably most appropriate…so Earl Wyn) or Baron (though Baron is usually reserved as a land holder in their own rights), while in Dleth, if they recognized adoption he could be Marquis; but currently that would never happen as a non-Valoren, non-royal blood adoptee in Dleth. So son of Talon, Nephew to Rah, second cousin to Suman, and …hahahaha…great-grandson to King Sumerian of Dleth; Earl Wyn Zusammen. I THINK!!! Hell if I know royalty; the best I’ve been titled is a royal pain in the @$$! 😝

As any child will easily remind us adults that human nature is to scratch an itch or to pick at a scab; a bandaid is good for healing the outside, but is usually bad news and unpredictable for the inside (mental health). The culmination of Alex’s hidden emotion and the recent influences of Sebastian are taking a toll presently but maybe this is something leading to a great breakthrough for the Alex team.

So sad to see them, our misfits, all frustrated and disheartened. Really, Hanja and Tyren? Me smells a big ole rat 🐀, whether an old or new adversary, I think they need a hypothesis and testing to find what’s going on; magik light/purity and healing scans? Whether majik or poison, there seems to be more than meets the eyes, especially with Hanja and Tyren showing previous susceptibility. Also, maybe a decree that lets the Lords of the Council know that whether, expenses for planning and war prep, or absorbing losses from not be prepared, the lords will share with assets being “nationalized” if invaded or under hostile assault without offensive military actions; e.g. no serious prep can be invitation for invading forces. @demiurge, you are wicked; what are up up to now? Hahahaha Oh, the suspense!

I think it’s time for another food run to the farm, perhaps for…months. Young Karl has not had much time to adapt to city life; now the bombs are falling frequently, the trauma has been repeated, and Karl is far from any comfort zones…except for George and the Hopkins, and the farm/country side.

Hmmm, how much longer before Dani’s 18th bday? We need some Vinicius help and clarity here! The protection league is under suspicion for the assassination attempt, rightfully so, but The uncanny remarks are interesting, as the Princess mother is concerned that he not be “one of us,” not saying a Carandini, but one of us….curious; does the Royal Family have some undisclosed gifts that could likewise compromise them should Dani not side with them, giving even more impetus to kill him. Even if aligned, the Princess was focused of the heritage; non-aligned, it seems he dies by some Carandini hands…why, when Ciprian himself declares he fairly much fears no one…except Dani. 🤔 And why did she ask if Ciprian had anything to do with this? Suspicion runs high from the Vision of Vinicius in the lab, of which tributes of “for her” were heard, but likewise, is the Princess concerned due to claims of royal heirs? Is there history going back even before dear ole dad, the former King? Or is the truth centered reliably on Dahlia? Why is Dahlia of concern, such that fear runs deep to even mention her name…much the same as talking “rebirth.” Also, once again, why was Vinicius turned against his wishes??? Things that make you go hmmm 🧐

Hmmm 🤔, true that Dani is power, a designer weapon indeed; HOWEVER, every weapon has a trigger. Each of the obvious options assumes Dani will bark at the will of the owner; performing tricks at their will, triggering as obedience training allows. The problem with this smart weapon is that it is total sentient, with a conscience programmed by the creator, instilling logical application for ethics in morals, restraint in power (even his ability allows transformation of powers with inclinations of it being more of an defensive or policing ability), and the ability to take independent action based on independent logic against those wielding power against that best logic. The third option? This is the unknown as Dani is still processing the many inputs, with too much tainted data provided, not as requested, but more like fed propaganda and persuaded by the influencers, that are likely to block the collection of any data not supporting their cause. So the simplicity of option 1, 2, 3, etc, still compiles into a programmed response that may govern or moderate any of the above; or demand his own set of requirements to earn his support. He can be security and justice, …if protected from those overwhelmingly corrupting forces. Of course, the most powerful force in this sacrum universe is @C. Henderson, beyond Dani’s transformation powers, he can create, destroy, transform, or reform all powers, knowledge, and recognition within the realm.

Once again, Ciprian crosses Vincent with his interference, in blatant defiance of Vincent’s decree that only he would deal with Dani. Very suspicious that Ciprian impatiently demanded Dani’s allegiance in defiance of “his King” at that post-awakening meeting; where he was then warned off of Dani. Now this non-lethal yet focused, a strategic disabling, brings Dani to the crypt of this deviously defiant uncle. Ironic that he should hint at Dahlia’s?, Vinicius’?, stubbornness when he repeatedly defies Vincent and appears to have most assuredly defied his brother. I stick to my previous thoughts that Ciprian is responsible for the former King’s reputation against the humans; With mounting evidence I would not deny my suspicions that he killed Dahlia and set up the Royal massacre. Likewise, Vinicius knew more than framed in this portrait of murders. As Dani was created the statement from Vinicius of “this is for her” probably supports Dani being Vincent’s half brother…well perhaps less than half with the genetic splicing…he’s possibly his father and/or cousin too; 10% here, 20% there, 15 over here… 😝. Perhaps the mixed feelings of love between Demetrius and Vincent…hmmm, do they need Demetrius to get a DNA test too? OMG 😱 what are Dani’s choices without possible incest? Hahahaha An ironic twist could also be Vinicius making Dani sired by Ciprian but cleansed by the splicing. Ahem…focus… I feel Arani Deadnus has been betrayed by Ciprian before, used in his great game of Chess; and she wiped out the Royal Family with Ciprians aid. Already in hiding when Deadnus found enlightenment, Ciprian finds himself awakened with designer Specials to contend with and the head of that program magically evaporated….or was he. As he asked Dani, how did he die, who told you. Naturally a lying, murdering, deviant would not trust the word of others! Many twists with alliances too historical and numerous to sort without more discovery, but the enemy of my enemy comes to mind here; that and “these are not the Droids you’re looking for.” 😝 @C. Poor Dr Spencer, he helped get Karl away from the initial damage and then returned to continue the journey to a safer location…to only find himself making is own final march. Even as he perceived his death to be imminent, he waved Karl off to save himself; so selfless, so sad. The compassion Karl felt, so strong and committed…Dr Spencer did not die alone, nor without a small return of human compassion…from a familiar “friend,” sharing their struggles until the end. Young Karl once again faces death, but not only that of others but now recognizing his own mortality too. Even his traumatic rescue of “not my friend” George has weighed heavily upon Karl’s innocence. Unfortunately, Karl's innocence has been more violently stripped by the same war that initially stripped him of family, home, and country. His foster family and adopted country are now on the frontlines of war, but at least Karl still remains free of the Nazi Youth Groups and Forced breeding programs; hopefully he will also manage and free himself of any PTSD. Given that Karl was with the doctor, sharing the same trauma, yet communicating and acknowledging their shared physical limitations should help Karl accept that the doctor was making his own decisions and that Karl was an equal victim; a temporal trauma allowing Karl awareness, as not responsible nor a failing party to the ultimate death of the doctor. This eases Karl’s survivor’s guilt and his PTSD; so hopefully his physical and mental healing will be concurrent, with neither delaying beyond a normal healthy healing and processing for recovery! Maybe Karl will get strength from some encouraging good news from home…, that they too are surviving, not living under forced labor conditions, nor having to support a movement just for the rights of nourishment and to live. Ironically, we learn that the young doctor has a child or children; what is the possibility that one may be called Rosemary? @LittleCherryBlossom26: G-lad that Karl survived, E-xcited for a healthy recovery, T-ears for those lost, K-eep George on task for his destiny , A-ccept the past, R-ecommit to the future, L-ive as there’s no tomorrow, W-ar requires strength, E-xpect nothing without risk, L-imit your losses, L-eave nothing to chance! Dang you @Krista, you have me in tears! Speaking as a person who had their dad hospitalized with a very rare variation and often misdiagnosed spinal meningitis long ago, this story is too close to home. Dad went from normal to nearly full paralysis within a day’s time. The doctors didn’t know what he had or how to treat it. Just old enough (12) to visit him in the hospital, I was told to go speak to dad as he would hear me but not be able to respond; the doctor was getting young ears away from telling my mom they had no leads and if things continued she should be prepared for the worst. I learned this much later, as mom shares stories now from when dad was alive. The doctor then came into the room and raised the covers from dad’s feet and poked with no response, he then came bedside and held dad’s wrist while checking his watch for the time (eyes of a 12yo), at this point he reached up and closed my dad’s eyes…..only to then to realize I was watching him, with full understanding of what that act meant from any and all of the westerns now known as classics. He quickly signaled like an umpire giving mini gestures of a safe call and said dad was asleep and the paralysis had kept his eyes open; “let’s let him rest now.” Dad did make a recovery though this was still before a cure was known. However, Guillain-Barré Spinal Meningitis is now easily treated, if properly diagnosed this many decades later, and has even become more prominent in Covid screening and symptoms watches. Back then around 60% expired and 40% had permanent paralysis; dad was a very, very, rare recovery without paralysis….though that was a long one year process, with several broken lamps and many bruises as dad refused to stay in a wheelchair or to use walkers. This new relationship seems to have underlying interest from both parties; though maybe one is testing, while the other is resisting socialization in general, mostly blinding him from seeing is own admirer. My bet has Ridley anxiously reading the Friday feature, as upon reflection, he will start to realize the vacancy within his life and heart; and Gabe has already parted the smoke screen, he doesn’t scare so easily, and he has conviction without apologies….just what Ridley’s doctor (mom) would order. Hopefully, mom doesn’t damage her relationships with these boys as she witnesses just how well Ridley responds to his treatment. @Krista, even with tears, I’m loving it already. You have a wonderful connection with portraying the angst and internalization of young minds, but painted within the broader landscape of life as it shades and adds color to the story. No, no, no! I believe Dani has been honed and trained, be it vague but yet specific, for much more than a simple body snatch. However, in a parallel universe Vinicius could be the vengeful son of Dahlia, resenting that fact that Deadnus has stolen his just rights of revenge, in the name of his mom, his own forced dark-knight turn, and all that the reign of human suppression has laid upon humanity…nah, don’t think so. Dani is the product of a governmental commission with appearances for best intentions, however, being pre-loaded with opportunities for governmental or program abuse, which has come to pass; things Vinicius would have rejected, thus designing the ultimate chess piece, Dani, to counter objectively the irrational as proven in recent events.

Well said, whether subconscious within a PTSD induced nightmare or from living in a real life nightmare, Karl remains true to is nature; though longing for the country life, family, and simple manure. The reality of war comes to visit the home front; assuming George is ok, perhaps the medical staff injuries/shortages along with all the other injured, will be the final push that brings George back to life…and with plenty of purpose. Maybe his new relationship and the determination he finds in Karl will be the inspiration and focus he needs to get back on track and put history into perspective. Wow, poor Robert will really be kicking himself now, but likewise it is what it is, and it’s time to find his inner-strength and determination to best control what he can; and stop reliving the unforgiving past. His control is needed to bring a sense of calm within the shaken Hopkins’ residence; all the nerves are rattled but purpose must be restored.
