As @drpaladinsays, Wren will not be happy; the King has a hostile takeover going down under his nose, add to that, an attack on the Verseckt and Wren’s protege with this plotting. Hopefully, Talon can be located soon. I hold hopes that the link is capable of more than communication and that the power of light will bring strength and clarity to the darkness. Imagine this strange partnership of Wren and Kalian...is there a future where Wren’s curse may be broken? It still seems there are some that are privy to the secrets of Kalian’s light, but they also seem to lack the understanding of the close relationship with the dark. Tyren appears to have kept the confidence of the link; reassuring after the rumors following Talon getting flash burns. Is the Queen a willing participate or another pawn of her own vanity. She too could be expecting rewards Anders has no intent to share. Absolute power corrupts absolutely??? @Demiurge, another thriller chapter with some clues confirmed with more stirred into the mix.

Lol, no not a well thought out adult solution perhaps 🤔, but I can appreciate the young man trying to come into his own; perhaps fighting resentment the workers hold against the spoiled kid of the all important head scientists. But also, I think of his trusting innocence of having grown up in space; this is his neighborhood in terms of familiarity. He race of humans don’t recognize the threats as they hadn’t seen the aliens, those deeming the race unready for contact, so Essell’s entire race is proceeding, in blessful ignorance of the higher intelligence, sending the unarmed and/or unescorted expeditions for mining exploration and scientific breakthroughs; not deemed dangerous, though admittedly, that doesn’t mean safe. So with that context, the wayward conduct of a teenager/young man character is much like us country kids that explored unfamiliar woods and animals often alone and unafraid, as we thought it our world and our right; and somehow we all survived...often with the ole switch bush getting stripped of yet another branch that afternoon when the truth was revealed. Sitting for supper was often added punishment as a tanned and fevered bottom tends to make for a restless meal. When thirteen, my father unexpectedly came home for lunch and found me sitting on the fender of mom’s used car, it had not held it’s turning and was running quite rough. With my legs in the engine compartment to allow me to reach the center mounted distributor rotor and shaft, I had just pulled that entire rotor shaft, and distributor housing with spark plug wiring still attached from the engine. Dad’s words were something along the line of OMG son, that only goes together in one way...shaking his head he retreated for lunch mumbling about calling his mechanic friend tonight. I removed the suspect bad parts and then moved my mom’s old car, we had yet to sale since to new one was running rough, to the front drive for her to take me to the auto parts house for new parts and tune up supplies. The car was returned to it’s reassembled condition and I awaited dad’s return home. After his dinner and evening reports he turned to me and asked if I was ready to ask his friend for help as it was my mess to confess and correct. I held up the keys and asked why? Can we go for a test drive now dad? 😝 Needless to say the car running like new saved that poor switch bush another stripping, but that was the way for us independent kids. One needed confidence and determination to execute your plans, and a strong backside when you went far beyond your safety and understanding.

I like the way you highlight that passage, but I’m reading between the lines...two years before I caught him...almost as if it was expected but took two years to fulfill destiny; so big trust issues. Bobby likewise has already grown up in an environment of trust and would not play well into Uncle’s persistent paranoid trust issues.

I tend to agree when I hear him in the present, but thinking back to his understanding of his exosuit, it was indestructible and the best tech they had from the research section he hoped to augment with his independent research. The suit being breached was rather unexpected and even Bouncer’s bonding was not quite understood yet. So now Essex himself become the specimen of an inter-species, intergalactic, nanotechnology, DNA reprogramming, experiment...on an alien ship. 😝 So I hear ya, but I’m think I might be wondering if the Mr Toad’s Wild Ride of life wouldn’t have me tumbling out of the lab, hoping to wake up; Bravo CIA, I’m so loving this roller coaster ride of twists galore @Cia, the suspense, thriller, sci-fi romance still has me on the edge.

Something tells me the flinching of Malicious Mallex’s shabby crew may have some connections to the failed attack on Kalian’s caravan on that fateful day of his journey to the capital. The night that Lex abandoned his betrothed in the dangerous forest, as if he then knew the threat was over...at that time. Wren prides himself that he knows all, but as the avid supporter of the King one must wonder how much the communications flow both ways. The King wants to have Kalian close but allows the family disinheritance to proceed; which in turn cancels the marriage promise.... It seems the playbook is much more complicated; does it have to do with the ancient ways, languages, and prophesies that bond Kalian and Talon, light and dark? As Wren attest that Kalian is as light as when are dark Talon. To have the King and Wren so attached to the notion of keeping Kalian close, to know him, to be vested in him; the Lord of no title, no family name yet none as Lord, and without destiny understood by the masses. if only we could read the ancient words and tomes. Perhaps the ancient ways will be drawn from the darkness with the purity of the light. wow, twist and shout; the Lord of Darkness and union with the Lord of Light? Mallex is a strange character for sure, and he chooses strange partners in crime. I can’t quite imagine what Kalian’s not so sweet sister has to offer Mallex but he is definitely playing all angles. It really seems as if Lex had prior knowledge of Kalian’s future but was was some how able to delay the manifestation until the convenient time...until Talon unmasked it; who all would have been party to such deceit? Now they plot for Talon’s demise, but is that concern Talon shows indicating regrets of work driven separation or that of regrets of returning to the shadows to battle foes operating in secrecy and operating against his love. Despite the King’s flaws, the seemingly mounting possibilities of hostile takeover from within, has the Oben and Mallex deep in plotting. Ironic that his best hope is from people that have never sought out his favor nor his recognition, until this very cusp of Royal deceit and politics. Does the king foresee this deceit and have a counter plan? It is funny that the King shut Lex down, even though he desperately wants Kalian in his Royal favor. How does he do that and keep Kalian from becoming a spoiler?

OMG, what a time to introduce Mr Cliff Hanger, or Dale’s dad in this case. 😝 No one wants to meet “the parents” when the spotlight is on them; victim or perpetrator matters not, you’re the deer in the headlights. Now add to this; that Hunter is the victim of being blackmailed into man-rape for being closeted, he has the PTSD from that rape barely managed, and now the boyfriend is holding his hand in front of a stranger that turns out to be boyfriend’s dad. OMG, Hunter may have an episode that slams him back into blackmailed, helpless, and then resigned into withdrawal. Dale needs to act fast and dad needs to be more than the prosecutor in showing compassion for this special victim. The emotions portrayed in a balanced way add to the stresses we share with this character. The prejudice inflicted by the known “friends and acquaintances” just add the realism one expects to face to the wake of humiliating exposure of one’s private life; Gay or straight. Great job @FrankD, I’m feeling connected and invested in these two young men and their true close friends.

Yes!, the Pack and council are learning too of just how unique and different their Alpha Mate Alpha is, and now they must now think as uniquely to function at their best. So Alpha Kordell Griffith has a name...and a huge ego, and more importantly, he has a history of irrational violence. Beta David Triggs may be bested by the Alpha’s size and strength, but his unchecked ego has added his arrogance as leverage for a sharp Beta. Using his brain to invoke historical protocols for this power hungry Alpha was just the time he needed to have his hope of Pack help arrive in time. No doubts Dave’s bond with Vinsy will swell to new highs as Dave and Stacy now have hope springing from the shadows. Vinsy may not know the council info his mate knows, but he does know the overarching secrecy of the wolf world. He also knows the pain an arrogant and power hungry villain can inflict from his own history and that of sharing with his allies; especially the Giggling Electric Panda. Now to know that his close friends Stacy and Beta friend Dave are in peril, and that Stacy was exposed to the secrets behind the curtain, adds the catylist he needs to push his new powers into a fine tuned force of nature and magic. We are seeing the increasing synergies of VinsyM and VinsyW; the very synergies this week of Vinsy’s was perhaps meant to provide in training. As this egotistical ham of an Alpha and his sidekicks of spam, are about to learn how quick they can cook up like bacon. When the two halves of Vinsy have combined as never before, each acknowledging now that they need one another, that they are as one. Will we reach fission? Will these two Alpha parts combine as never witnessed before? As the arrogant Alpha Kordell Griffith believes he has found an 8oz can of whup-ass trying to challenge his superior Alphaness, he may be destined to hold the honor and notoriety as the fool that cried wolf in arrogance when he should have cried wolf in recognition of beast he has awakened; Vinsy Fission, was Mage and Wolf become combine in a reaction bring forth the powers of two worlds in harmony, VinsyF, with all the magical skills a three affinity mage can muster and the instincts of the beast to guide whether in offensive attack or the defense against challenge as a sentinel. 😝 While I don’t believe Stefan is or will be involved in this moment of awakening, there can be no doubts he will quickly learn of the events that unfold and will bear witness VinsyF’s growth in skills and allies. Likewise, it will be a statement of resolve to witness the rath of the wolf community when the veil has been so callously disregarded in this exposure. Yet another exciting and suspenseful addition to a story of the same; salute @astone2292and thanks again for sharing your creativity. Hopefully your work schedule will slow to a more balanced life level of hours, hang in there!

“G” is a manipulative prick. Beyond being a prick, I’m thinking he may be the very focus for Zeke’s investigations and the strong reasons for Zeke not trusting him; G is running both sides of the board, he is the enemy within and Zeke is too close to exposing this. Zeke is being set up and Tyler is being used to perpetuate the crimes of G. This whole setup is bad news, but I have hope that Zeke is implementing is own safeguards and exposures this prick. Ironic that G’s patsy could be the key to his demise.

OMG, a true story. Back in the day, I was tasked to help my granddad removing old trees from the orchard; this was the old fashioned felled and limbed with nothing but an axe. My granddad had been a young worker and lumberjack at the old country lumber mill in the days prior to WWII; the man knew all too well how to sling an axe. We had been workin hard all morning leading up to lunch; he was chopping faster than I could collect and stack the burn pile, somewhat humiliating to not be able to keep up with grandpa. Meanwhile grandma had been visited by “ding dong...Avon calling.” The southern hospitality extended to the sales lady had long since infringed upon our lunch break; which was obvious as we shook and swept the chips and leaves from our clothes, for re-entry and lunch. The sales lady remained persistent and intrusive, even as we were trying to cool off and eat our lunches. Her persistence crossed the line for granddad as the lady misted next to us eating, trying to draw granddad into her sales opportunity. It was a new line of products for a more refreshing bathroom experience; It was, as I believe all the original offerings were, pine scented, and rather strong at that. Well granddad, was not impressed. He finished the mouth full of sandwich as he considered his answer to the question directed to him, “wouldn’t this be much more refreshing?” My poor, hot, and tired granddad lost all sense of southern hospitality as he turned to the pushy sales lady and replied, “I imagine it would make it seem ‘bout like someone just shat a Christmas Tree.” To my teenaged southern surprise, had it not been for my shocked surprise, I think I would have fallen out of my chair as I saw that lady quickly grab her sales kit and scurry from that unpleasant and foul environment her new pine scented product fail to mask. 😝 So Devyn, I know exactly how unpleasant you may find that masking puff of piney scents.

Oh geez 🙄, the dynamics and emotions of the young friends. The emotions of wanting best friends, but one will stand out. But then that perceived best friend also wants best friends, and the one that stands out to him may not be the recipacated bonds offered. I do sense Sasha desperately needs friends, but that Billy is the one that makes him extend his circle of friends as unwitnessed before, I wonder if Sasha sees Billy as just a friend; or even best friend, it seems to be a stronger pull for Sasha; yet something that Billy doesn’t fully understand either. Even as Billy initially shows more interest in Liam, is that his fail safe? Were it not for the danger surrounding of Sasha, would Billy possibly start leaning towards the bad boy? The spontaneous kiss to win Liam’s concession seems to be an effort to juggle these new friendships at all costs, but the time approaches when the others will possibly waver as they are forced to share the best friend and more positions. Young love, passion, and friendships, show the fragile balance teens and young adults try to manage; then the reality of those conflicting desires reveal the complexities and compromises required to be a member of the group. Unfortunately, the drama of friendships remain just as complex for us through life, but the ability to accept what we can’t control becomes a little more familiar and easier to accept. Another great chapter @Black Paper, the anxiety surrounding this young group puts me back in junior high and high school; almost too real! 😂

The Alpha Anti-hu appeared to just want brawlers; so punks, probably, but that leads to dirty fighting and opportunities even for a weak Alpha, but especially for one that appears to be totally unethical. Though Lord Vagner may have been stripped of his nonexistent lands of false claims, I believe Vinsy could have pledged to Ty continued alliance with his NY Pack, but when his eyes returned to the shamed Delta, I would have loved to see, even at the expense of dropping another bead, for Vinsy to go into the Alpha Morph Mouth to say the last...he does not have a friend in me. Oh, and someone needs to tell him the pup is only weeks old; his teething stage is just now setting in. If the Morph Mouth didn’t get him to drop a brownie, then the reality of the puppy’s age shall leave skid marks for sure. The Fecal Oscillation Unit has been upgraded and certified to even work properly in the shadow realm now! Oh wow, the heat of the moment gives way to unquestioned desires. While the actions afterwards indicate one thing, I believe there is a deeper emotion that scares Galen too much to admit. Likewise, Reinard’s commitments seem born of isolation, desperation, and maybe the overarching fox 🦊 nature. Though the paths may diverge initially, I believe we may have an interesting journey before reaching a destination that may very well see both more interdependent than ever thought possible; maybe they are destined to save each other.

What better way to demonstrate leadership, than to negotiate an agreement between disinterested parties, for a settlement that will insure a better existence of all concerned. Likewise, he is already choosing his royal confidants before standing alone and distracted in the presence of the royal court/council. Even in brief observations he already knows the basic ethics and motivations of both brother and sister; Alex, a community builder, others over self; Alexandria, refusing to parade in false presence, at a possible cost of someone else’s feelings and expense.
