  1. You don't forget, you keep looking, hoping, praying ... a young local Amish woman, just 18, dissapeared on her way home from church services earlier this summer. The authorities have arrested and charged a young man and he will go on trial later this year. Some of the clothes she was wearing have been found buried behind a local business but there has been no sign of her. People are still looking ... most are certain he killed her and hid her body somewhere ... but until the find her they'll go on hoping, praying.
  2. Thanks for sharing bro ... love the voice.
  3. I like it too. There was a time that songs told a story, I miss those ballads.
  4. The PA Dutch have a saying ... " Too soon we grow old, too late we grow smart." We've got the old part now it's time to grow smart bro and not overdo things. I know you want him home with you and want his space ready and welcoming but how do you think he'd feel if you end up hurting yourself? You know he'll feel guilty for putting you out 'cause that's how you raised him. Consider that too while you prep his space.
  5. I'm going with the part where they aren't overly concerned and are thinking check again in six months to mean it's not something to fret over at this stage.
  6. I presume since you didn't say otherwise that your dad is okay that only the car was damaged. I can remember when Litlover Junior hit the moose.

    Chapter 15

This chapter is a much needed and welcome respite.
  8. Hi Page.
  9. G'day y'all. No morning walk today. It's too wet.
  10. A breath of fresh air.
  11. Oh how fortuitous ... it turned out to be a berry good day for you. If it was left to me I would freeze those berries and make jam later this winter. Nothing like bringing the rich scent of late summer into the house when it cold and dreary outdoors.
  12. I had my main meal at midday. I made baked macaroni and cheese. I don't know which cheese varieties were in it because I back last fall I had remnants of several different cheeses in the refrigerator when it was time to head to Mum's. I tossed them all into the Cuisinart and chopped them up together before putting the mix into the freezer for later use. It has been a cool damp miserable day, my head hurts so I was in need of comfort food hence the mac 'n cheese. It was very good. I topped it with some medium hot salsa when I dished it up. There are enough leftovers to provide two more servings. Those have been portioned out to go into the freezer.
  13. Yep, he's definitely the best man.
  14. G'day y'all. Tis a cool damp overcast morning with a bit of breeze. Some rain overnight with more showers in the forecast. Took Thistle for a shortened walk this morning, only 2 miles instead of four, before heading to market for a few things. My head aches today. Likely due to a combination of changeable weather and the fact I'm coming up on when the next series of injections is due. Anyway having a bit of laydown. Blessed be.
  15. Oh my brother, would that I could draw you close to ease your banishment. We are social creatures the need for contact hardwired. We need to feel life through another's touch. Is it any wonder that the number of those experiencing depression has exploded? Sad that so often sacrifice is expected of others not the ones who deem it necessary. Thank you as always for your words.
  16. By which bit?
  17. I had a large salad of romaine lettuce with bits of rare roast beef and crispy onions with a summer tomato dressing.
  18. I very much like orange chicken or beef. My first introduction was 30+ years ago. A local place made tangerine beef. Only place I've ever encountered it and it was wonderful. Sadly they closed in the late 1990's.

    Crayons

Both Mum and I are well thanks. As always Mum sends her love.
  20. Thought it must because the melon contains so much water. Mum and I typically make jam using equals amounts of fruit and sugar and cooking it until it thickens. This sounds good.
  21. G'day y'all what a difference a few days make. Last week we had temps in excess of 90/32° with extreme humidity. Currently it's 69/21° with moderate humidity and overcast. The forecast is calling for rain later today and overnight. I mowed my yard this morning after pruning the pines to avoid the need to duck my head repeatedly during said mowing. I learned this morning that the lady nextdoor has tested positive for COVID. She started feeling poorly the end of last week and was tested. She began to feel better over the weekend and feels okay today but must remain in quarantine until September 5th. Her husband who has no symptoms must quarantine for the next 10 days. He was told they will not test him unless he shows symptoms. Fortunately my interactions with them have been limited to infrequent across the yard chats so I'm not concerned. Blessed be.
  22. Well it must be one great story because he's a damn fine home stretch ...
  23. That's what mum says too. In her younger days mum had a weight issue. During her nurse's training she lost the weight and never regained it. The majority of her nursing was as office nurse for doctor's in private practice. In addition to nursing she also acted as a dietitian helping patients establish healthy eating. She said if you deprive yourself of something you really enjoy you're more likely to eventually binge on it. Better to make it an occasional treat.
  24. Watermelon jam? That's one I've not heard of before. Do you need to add pectin to get it to gel?
