Hmmm, sounds like my marriage before we both came to our senses and separated. Sawyer seems to be desperately trying to maintain control of something.

So he performs an unwelcome duty because no one else could be trusted to. He seems filled with remorse and shame, apologizing for killing the young man but why? It would seem a mercy and too it doesn't seem that he's responsible for the bite that brought them to this. Is it because he buried him in a lost soon forgotten place with no indication of what became of him or simply the unfairness of it? Did he leave Louisiana by choice or necessity? A very well conceived and executed chapter.

It's good to have goals but they need to be realistic and adapt to life.

Yeah, don't cause trouble if he writes longer chapters one of two things might happen ... he doesn't post as often or the stories will have fewer chapters ... or ... a third possibility his brain might run out of juice.

This was a fun chapter despite Brett's bit of painful nostalgia. How long has it been since he lived in the house? Is Nalbo planning on a runner? Wait until news of the house being sold gets out. That should rings alarms almost as much as foreclosure.

Fortunately we don't have the extreme heat, it's currently 80/27° but with 79% humidity it feels like 84/29°. Temp is forecast to stay in the low 80's. The highs and lows have been varying by less than 10°F. I'm hoping things break soon. I'm in day two of a particularly nasty migraine. Blessed be y'all?
