Yes, but don't tell her. She doesn't like when I do because I spoil them. I let them stay up late and watch scary movies and eat candy and cookies. She thinks they bounce off the walls because they're excited to see her when she gets home. In reality they're just hyped on sugar.
Mum and I will be making fruitcakes after we get back to her home in SC in three weeks. Ideally we would do them earlier but we already have a car full of things. We make small loafpan sized ones. Half will be frozen for next year. They age very well that way. Oh, and we douse ours with bourbon, they are afterall Southern fruitcakes.
If you were bed-ridden six months is a long time but you're not and it will pass quickly. Trust me on this, six months is how long I stayed with mum. Also, as I recall you were warned ahead of time that it could take up to a year to recover. Mum says six months is nuthin' deal with it. You could be hangin' by your toes.
