  1. In thinking of the Orb(s), I can only give a couple of thoughts. It is either alien by origin or comes from a future time, in advance of Eric's time. What I can't fathom is why Eric (Eli) was made admin of the orbs... Unless anyone with telepathic abilities is given admin status. Then there is the problem of all these "powers" that seem to exist in this timeline. Or are we in an alternate universe? Regardless of all my questions, which may never be answered, this is a good story and I'm enjoying it.
  2. Well, Eli (Eric) has uncovered a spy who would have killed him. Shamed her into a virtual admittance of her role. I have to wonder how many more attempts will it take before he has enough ammunition to depose Mary.

    Chapter 2

It is truly sad that a person can become so despondent or depressed that ending it all seems to be the only solution. Even more tragic when it is a young person who contemplates such an action. Some signs can be seen when a person reaches that stage. Sadly, this is never taught, except to the type of professional(s) that aren't there to see the person until afterward. Regardless, suicide is a permanent solution to what is generally a temporary problem. 😢😭
  4. Hmm, railguns? I can only conclude that someone further up the timeline than Eric is about in this era.

    Chapter 2

Justin would be 18 or 19. Utterly sad that he thought the way out (of his problems) was suicide. Too much of that is going around, even today. 😢
  6. "To know your enemy, you must become your enemy."
  7. That was certainly one method of gaining loyalty! Plan 'B' was a success.
  8. Golly Miss Molly! At least we now know where Jack went.
  9. Yes, a good story to binge upon.

    Chapter 10

Things are not always as they appear. Especially when Peter is involved. Remember his past as the story moves onward.
  11. After reading the first 5 chapters, you have another reader. I don't know my English history as well as I should, but the introduction of one of the "Fair" folk has gotten my attention.

    Chapter 1

We must also remember that Scott didn't know who he saved until it was a done deed! Happenstance?

    Chapter 1

Well, he admits it to Billy. What's neat about that is that Billy admits the same thing. They have the "hots" for each other. Early days, though. In such emergencies, certain things do not matter. It's only afterward that they might come into play. But consider, even if young Justin tells his older brother that yeah, they were the poofters that he saw in the shower block, they just saved his life! Do you seriously think the brother or the parents are going to care about that?... At least, not in the immediate future. About that brother... We don't know enough about the family to know if they are residents or holidaygoers. I guess we need Chapter 2 to tell us more!

    Chapter 1

The Rip has always been one of my favorite Thompsonville stories. Thanks for bringing it here, @Mark Ponyboy Peters.

    Chapter 12

That was one of the things that kept me in my hetero-marriage. The other were my children. Angels in America was indeed a very powerful film. It's a shame that most Americans won't ever see it... Nor would they care about it much (my opinion is based upon those with whom I've discussed the disease). @Ronyx, a good chapter that reflects past decisions and current problems that face us all.

    Chapter 16

A thousand years after this 'Oblivion' and I can't quite tell if this is a culture on the rise or a culture in its demise. On its rise because of the (re)discovery of technology. On its downfall because there are laws that are no longer being enforced.

    Chapter 21 S2

I believe it happens to most of us. It used to be that I loved a bowl of super-hot chili, now and then. Now I like chili anytime I can make it... Only not so spicy anymore! I used to hate Mince-meat pies. Not so nowadays. Hunting was another favorite. Now I'd just as soon stay in camp and be the cook.

    Chapter 15

This is the same faulty logic that used to be used on women or girls when they were sexually abused. What is forgotten is that the body will react to stimuli, rape or not. I'm happy that this is mostly no longer used as a defense nowadays!

There is not much I can say that others here haven't already said. Thank you, @WolfM.

    Chapter 14

I hear that in Arizona and New Mexico, they are getting an influx of vampire bats from Mexico! (sorta back on topic, here...)

    Chapter 14

Northwoods, huh? And here I thought you were one 'o those mates from way down on the south side of the planet! Anywho, the only thing you'd have to worry about are the Jack-a-lopes in my portion of the upper desert! Well, cougars come into town once in a while. But they only bother the neighbor's cats and dogs! Oohh! First on two!!!

    Chapter 14

Consider, if you grew up in the (let's say) 1100s, regardless of how societies have changed, you will still have some or even many of the same characteristics that you had growing up (we are assuming you were changed well into adulthood). While you would be an evil man in human society, in the society of Dracul, it wouldn't be a problem how you treated your vassals. Whatever powers you had that allowed you to become a Baron, you would retain regardless of how many regenerations you went through. As you aged (and went through the regeneration process), your basic character would likely stay the same.
