  5. I shop at Macy's only at Christmas to buy the stuffed toy of the year for my godson. The person below me loves to go to the beach.
  6. Been a while, but the shiny is mine! My precious.
  7. A lot depends on when and who is giving the advice or criticism. I listen and work closely with anyone who I am using as a beta reader. I've been lucky to work with some great people who look for ways to help me improve my writing, asking me to expand ideas, give more detail, or clarify something I have written. Those people I will always thank with all of my heart. Unfortunately, I've also worked with people who've tried to have me alter my characters or completely change my story, not because there was a problem, but because it wasn't what they wanted or how they would have written the story. News flash, it isn't their story, it's mine. Those people I've had to back away from. They have, a few times, successfully killed a project I was working on. The comments passed ended up tainting all the work I'd done and now I couldn't look at my own work the same way. Now there is a huge difference between "You really should use scullery maid instead of servant because it fits the time period" and "this doesn't work and you should start over." The more detailed and reasoned response will always get a response from me. Like when someone leaves a review. Those that say, this is wonderful or this sucks, doesn't mean much to me, because they don't point out anything I can focus on to continue or fix in my writing. However, when someone says the story touched them and all the details reminded them of their own life because of x, y, or z I am ecstatic. It also helps when someone says my story sucks because I accidently changed a character's name, or the fact the main character traveled hundreds of miles in seconds with no reasonable explanation. These are things I can fix. I might feel stupid that the beta reader, editor, and myself missed this, but I am made aware of the issues and can fix them and try not to repeat them in the future. The one thing I have learned is not to allow someone the ability to steal away something I enjoy doing. I will not be a victim to someone else's small minded attacks. Anyway, just my comments on the topic.

While I wasn't sure of the movie, immediately knew the location. Will have to add to my to see list. Damn thing always get longer.
  13. I've never been mountain climbing. I used to hike, and as kid I did some camping. Grown older with a bad back, so now a days the best you get is a day at the beach. Never have I ever left my home country. (Though I would love to travel)
  14. Ok, I'm in it for entertainment. I will watch Hocus Pocus, Labyrinth, Krull, The Princess Bride, High Anxiety, Sleeping Beauty, or a hundred other films to be entertained. My ever growing pile of to read has mysteries, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and more. When I write, it is to tell a story, that I hope, people will enjoy. I am not out to put hidden meaning, create new religions, or tell people how to live. I might focus on love or family, but I see that as universal experiences and not as the human condition under the microscope. I've told tales of love, my take on fairy tales, abuse, and a dozen other topics, but in the end I write the tales I like to read, not tales someone tells me to write. Sorry, to blather on, just figured I toss in my two cents.
  15. Writing is freeing, but being inspired can take work. I'm a people watcher, and I'll admit it, I'll eavesdrop on conversations on the bus, at the store, in restaurants, and doctor's offices. Sometimes the pieces will inspire me to write. Why is Darin taking the bus while he is dressed in a tuxedo? Agnus only has 12 cans of tuna and a jar of pickles. Why? Susan just told the waitress she is pregnant and wants to know if she can get a blue and pink cupcake for dessert when she tells her husband. Where did that man find such an ugly cat? Other times I'm angry or frustrated and am inspired to write how I wish things would be. Yeah, as an author I have no problem playing god. Lol And sometimes the story comes from nowhere and you just have to write. Inspiration is just a brat who can give you everything or nothing. Or, that's how it works with me.
  16. Granted, but you've developed a severe allergic reaction to alcohol. I wish I could just relax in bed today.
