How much I missed, simply because I was afraid of missing it. - Paulo Coelho “It is not often that a man can make opportunities for himself. But he can put himself in such shape that when or if the opportunities come he is ready.” ― Theodore Roosevelt “The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.” ― John F. Kennedy

Glad you enjoyed it Timothy. Erik made some mistakes, but his future is up to him and lets just say he doesn't have much leeway to screw up. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

I think it is mainly the idea of youth vs age. He is young and lives in the moment. You can forget rules, plans, and other things when you are caught up in the moment. Coming out is different for everyone. Each person feels the weight differently and then there is always the what happens when I tell, will people still like me? On the other side is his father. A man who has loved him but set rules. He sees things but doesn't comment until things finally come to a head. As the adult he should handle things better, but being human allows him to be hurt and upset, seeing not only his son failing to come clean and follow the rules, but the image of him as a father having cracks and wondering where he went wrong. Life is never just black and white. It is always messy with lots of shades of grey. Thanks for the comment Timothy. I hope you find other things you like and comment on.

Sorry but lately it seems I do a lot of apologizing and explaining, if not just ranting and raving. Such is my life lately. Just wanted to note a few things before everyone wonders what is going on. First up is Jonas. No I haven't forgotten him. I am still writing, although I don't think I have ever thrown out so many copies of a chapter never being quite content with what I have written. For something I had hoped to have finished by now I am getting really picky about how it is going. I am still going on and both my beta and editor ask about it. Second my beta work. I do apologize to both people I have been beta working for. I will explain part of my lack of progress on your work and my own in a moment. Third my health. Okay here is the deal. I have been really tired lately and not sure why. I went for my yearly physical last week and suddenly I seemed to find a new specialty doctor to see and have half the pills I am on changed. Seems my blood pressure is through the roof. I have had to wear a heart monitor and gone for a stress test. All the results aren't back but you can bet my nerves are shot. I have blood work and more tests scheduled so my ability to focus is way off. Finally is my job. I have reached the end of my rope there. I have been applying for work in dozens of places. I hit the cap that my job has for my job role and haven't seen a raise in three years. I have gone for more interviews for jobs all over that ended with the interviewer telling me I was great, but I am over qualified for the job. Over qualified? The job pays more than I am making and I am willing to take it. Who cares about over qualified. To make matters worse I have applied for a job in my own store and told I didn't have enough knowledge for a job I used to hold before I had to move down to Long Island to help look after my father. The job went to someone who has never done the job before. To make it clear I need a new job my review was done and I was basically told while I know the job cold, do good work, I need more time in it and I am capped so no raise for year four. I'm worn out and looks like things just aren't getting any easier. To add insult to injury I found out after I didn't get my raise I will be training a new hire who used to be my student from when I was teaching. Yes, fate is having fun laughing and smacking me around lately. So just forgive me if things are taking five times or longer to get anything accomplished.

I always enjoy a change. I rarely do sex in any story I write, and if there is it is usually off scene. I was reading the original tale and hated the incest line that was there and wanted a way to alter it. Considering how many friends I have that are lesbian it wasn't hard to come up with. I might have to do something like this again. Thanks for the review Nostic.

Life happens and the one thing you learn eventually is to take care of yourself. As long as you are doing what is best for you, the rest will wait on you. I hope you continue to well and you get to place where you are content.

Geez. I really have to start paying attention. Happy Belated Birthday Totallyy

Happy Belated Birthday Celethiel!

Awww. Just sort of a slice of life. Terrible not to know if it was a break up, a declaration, or what. You leave us all feeling like things are unsettled. As for you setting your stuff up for public fights, well maybe I should put a prompt in the middle of a ship so they can't run away. Decisions, decisions. Nice scene though.

Thank you Jaro. This wasn't an easy piece but it is something we have to be aware of. Life isn't always easy and there are "broken" people all around who try to do the best they can but might need help. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Oh dear. I have to go see what Jo did now.

Thanks Ron. I like to capture moments when I write.

I like when I can use the prompt to depict a piece of life. I try my best to make it realistic. Glad you enjoyed it Valkyrie.

Okay Rook Lee let me let you in on something, a prompt is as long or as short as you, the author want it to be. The prompt basically is simply an idea to help get an author started writing. Some people do short stories, some use this as the first chapter of a longer work, some do a character sketch. The prompts don't have a set way to be used. They are simply there to help inspire the author to write. You have a great story here. i too would have enjoyed if it was fleshed out a bit. Never feel you have to conform to something unless it is one of the challenges or poetry where you need to follow a form. Can't wait to read more from you.

“Steven, hurry up or you are going to be late for school.” Peter yelled up the staircase as he headed back into the kitchen. “Damn, where did I put the vitamins?” “Dad, have you seen my sneaker?” Peter shook his head and looked at the ceiling before he shouted back to his son. “Where did you have them last?” “I don’t know. I came home took them off.” “Where were you?” “Umm …” “Steven, this is not a guessing game. Where were you when you took off your sneakers?” Peter walked back to the st

It wasn't an easy subject to deal with Aditus. I've been on one side and then had to deal with the other as a teacher. It allows sympathy and understanding when dealing with it.

Ron was isolated and that helped to make it easier to victimize him. With this attack he won't be able to just go back to being the way he was. People know now about him being abused. I'd like to hope his brother will be there to help him rebuild and see him get the help he has needed for years. Thanks for reading and for commenting Timothy.

Abuse can take so many forms. I tried here to deal with many of them, from child abuse, to mental, and finally to the physical. Sometimes once someone is abused it makes it easier for the next person do more damage to them. Ron never went looking for anyone, didn't have a support system, and was isolated. It made it easy for those who wanted to use him to enter his life and do so. By the end Ron had hit rock bottom. I hope finally he would find the help he so needed.

Actually I think this might be picked up in the Winter Anthology as I have been playing with ideas. Wish me luck.

Happy Birthday Foop!

Thank you for reading my story Headstall. Yes, each of us took the theme in a different direction and ran with it. I'm glad you enjoyed my werewolf tale, where Bill felt the attraction his wolf had and still had to battle on to end Sam. I am happy that you got to enjoy it and that, yes, the bad guy lost and the good guy drove off into the sunrise.

Thank you Cole. Not many seem to want to let me know what they thought of this story. It wasn't an easy subject but when you come across the subject Scars it can lead down some dark roads. In this case, Ron just kept sinking lower and didn't really have any reason to change, until it happened to more than just him, it happened to his dog. He was willing to fight on but you hope he finds the strength to do it.

Life is not always an easy road. Ron had run into more than his fair share of abusers, but there is just a small part of him that fights to go on. Even in the end, broken and battered he wanted to keep going. Thanks so much for reading and commenting.

Thank you for reading and commenting Sam.

I always try to make sure my reader can enjoy the story and has enough information to go on. Glad you were able to get into it Bill. Just think a wolf with your name. Odd considering you are a panda. Thanks for the read and the comment.
