  1. Maybe what's important isn't the amount (and perhaps they don't need millions just now) but the signal given by a respected guy like Gates supporting this. He is one of your national icons, right? He must surely be held in the highest regard by everyone in America for what he's done for your country so his actions are important?
  2. You mean this guy???
  3. Heheh, yeah the pic is what British supermarkets call a "BOGOF" (buy one, get one free ) The guy at the back is Fabian's teammate (maybe "friend" in your dreams?? ) Philipp David Boy
  4. Maria Sharapova has been knocked out. Hooray!! The shrieking grunting scream queen was recorded in 2005 at 101 decibels. That's enough to cause hearing damage It's a tiresome tactic. Pity the tennis authorities are too feeble minded to penalise it.
  5. See this is what people in other countries find so puzzling, that an advanced "free" country like the US should still see this as any type of issue. Go back 50 years in Britain and yes it would be here too. But c'mon guys, you really need to get your country into the 21st century and deal with important stuff like, er, employment, the economy. If anyone of significance makes waves about this you need to gang together and run 'em out of town because they are just helping to drag your country down. Here's some examples of openly gay network TV presenters in Britain: Graham Norton - chat show host BBC Alan Carr - chat show host Channel 4 Jane Hill - newsreader BBC There's loads more but quite honestly nobody in Britain gives a stuff
  6. Wot's wrong with that?? Here's proof this is a very sensible policy Fabian Hambuechen (Germany) Jonathan Horton(USA) Louis Smith (Great Britain - yaaayyyyy!!!! ) .
  7. Yeah, happy birthday Canada And to celebrate here's a pic of a nice wholesome Mountie *thinks nasty unwholesome thoughts ...* .
  8. Ha - in the UK flying is cheaper than the train. A lot cheaper in many cases. Since the train system was flogged off to private companies in the 80s (previously State owned since 1948) passengers fares have rocketed AND the govt pays these companies many time more in subsidies now than it was costing to run the whole system before privatisation! And if you expect to get a seat for your eye wateringly expensive ticket on a commuter train or Friday night forget it - you'll be strap hanging all the way *tries to forget memory of especially nightmarish journey *
  9. It's called verbal irony, saying the opposite to what you mean *blank look of bewilderment * .... kind of a word play ... lots of English / American humour uses it *still not laughing * ... guess it doesn't travel too well ...
  10. He's a "proper" actor too - stage acting, Shakespeare etc - and he's done a lot of preparation "Andrew Garfield put in the hard work. He spent six months with a health and fitness trainer, while also working with a stunt team and learning trampoline, basketball, martial arts and parkour skills".
  11. He's got the skill, the power, a killer serve and the stamina (the guy barely broke sweat!). But it's more than that, it's also a mind game. If he can he maintain his cool as the pressure cranks up he deserves to be in the final

    Moving On

That's great - get yourself back in control of this old jalopy called life!
  13. And football???? (sorry, "soccer" for you guys ). As if we don't get enough of it with wall to wall league footy throughout the year. No wonder they can't sell the tickets. And who cares that Beckham didn't make the cut. He's more of an underwear salesman these days anyway ...
  14. That was worth paying the TV licence for Credit to Nadal - still happy to sign autographs on his way out
  15. No-one following Wimbledon? Lukas Rosol has just won the 3rd set against Nadal and leads 2 sets to 1
  16. Interesting. I agree there's a lot in what you say. Also, maybe it's because much of the world is shades of grey, rather than being exclusively one thing or another. Sure there are those who could never have sex with another of the same (or opposite) sex, and there are those who could, even if it might be exceptional. I don't like labels, personally - although I do accept myself as gay - and prefer the spectrum approach of Kinsey. Of course some of those bi's may just be being greedy and want the whole pie
  17. Yeah, agree with what's been said. You are not useless. But maybe you can find ways to work smarter. You could jot down your personal strengths and weaknesses, then consider if you are employing your strengths to full advantage. If you completed your Masters what opportunities would that offer? If that excites you then go for it. Having a daily exercise routine is always beneficial - it releases stress and just makes you feel more able to cope with what life throws at you. For me first thing in the morning is best 'cos I can't do anything on a full stomach. You don't need expensive gym membership, just a floor and a bit of space (press ups - gradually increase the number; squats - watch YouTube how to do them safely). You will feel better. Develop a passion for something you are interested in; an art class, or maybe learn a musical instrument. Look on Google for local groups in your area. Also it means you will meet people!! There is always something you can do to improve your life and make you happier

    First Times

Nice blog Yettie. Yeah I remember my first ciggie - nicked from my Dad. He smoked so many I knew he wouldn't miss one Probably aged 9 or 10? Anyway, I was with my brother, puffing away, not inhaling, and he said no you've got to breathe it in. Which I did, and nearly threw up followed by a mega coughing fit. It was gross. And I never had another. So, like with your Dad, the trick to not smoking seems to be to start 'em young

    Chapter 13

Promise us there'll be screams-a-plenty when Tanner materialises in front of the evil troll-hag-witch-bitch looking as he did when she murdered him, with blood oozing from his crushed skull, maybe an eye half hanging out, so she can give a full throttle shriek of terror just before he bursts the blood vessels in her scrawny neck using his poltergeist powers, and she dies a horrible slow lingering death while her tiny twisted little brain tries to grapple with the consequences of what she did *pants in excitement*. Pleeeeze.
  20. Oooops, I forgot to mention another factor - that I'm sure no-one's interested in - the fraternal team "bonding". Yeah, we're just guys, doing guy things y' know. Nothin' wrong with Matt Grevers givin' a teammate a friendly rub ... And that's not a "bulge" comin' on, so get that out of your smutty minds. No siree, that's how it always hangs ...
  21. A Golden Eagle, soaring majestically above my kingdom far below ... ... but the quiz says I'm a crow
  22. Nope, no real interest in ogling divers' junk .... In fact I could easily have overlooked it entirely ...
  23. Andrew Garfield is .... The Amazing Spider-Man! http://www.telegraph...ional-side.html Looks good from this angle too
  24. Yes indeedy you do Lily. I mean c'mon, look at the alternative *eeeeek * ... snog! Kiss? Or snog! It's a no brainer *heheh*
