James I King of England (also the VI of Scotland) was gay or bisexual. He had at least one gay lover, Robert Carr, a 17 year year old reputedly of great beauty with whom he fell in love. James I showered gifts and titles on Carr - he ended up an Earl - but following a lover's tiff King James wrote that Carr had been "creeping back and withdrawing yourself from lying in my chamber, notwithstanding my many hundred times earnest soliciting you to the contrary". So it wasn't a match made in heaven but at least Carr kept his head and ended up in comfortable retirement

Yeah, he may have lost a blingy trophy but he won the nation's heart with his emotional speech. And the guy smiled! True, if you blinked, you'd have missed it but it was definitely there with the tears. The guy's had a lot of negative coverage for his dour image but he is seriously focused. Similar, I suppose, to divers wearing flippers who can swim more efficiently than barefoot. The other issue is the risk of serious injury to other runners when they are bunched up. In fact the OPERA neutrino project was a joint experiment between CERN and LNGS in Italy. The September 2011 announcement was by Antonio Ereditato for LNGS and James Gillies, a spokesperson for CERN - so not fair to blame it on the Italians But I agree with you about the DeLorean and the flux capacitor

London's newest building opened today. Some say it's a "new London icon", others it's a "blot on the landscape, an outrage". I like it. I don't want London to become a skyscraper city but it's not as if it's in a specially historic bit of London (the nearby buildings are dismal). What do you think? Realistically I think this is Andy Murray's last chance to win Wimbledon. In fact, his last chance to win a Grand Slam. His age will start to count against him now and younger players will be coming through.

Ha! Britain doesn't have a climate, just weather! And apparently Britain has the second highest number of tornadoes by area. Most are weak - but not the one that hit Birmingham in 2005! Did about 40m quid's worth of damage

Maybe what's important isn't the amount (and perhaps they don't need millions just now) but the signal given by a respected guy like Gates supporting this. He is one of your national icons, right? He must surely be held in the highest regard by everyone in America for what he's done for your country so his actions are important?

Maria Sharapova has been knocked out. Hooray!! The shrieking grunting scream queen was recorded in 2005 at 101 decibels. That's enough to cause hearing damage It's a tiresome tactic. Pity the tennis authorities are too feeble minded to penalise it.

See this is what people in other countries find so puzzling, that an advanced "free" country like the US should still see this as any type of issue. Go back 50 years in Britain and yes it would be here too. But c'mon guys, you really need to get your country into the 21st century and deal with important stuff like, er, employment, the economy. If anyone of significance makes waves about this you need to gang together and run 'em out of town because they are just helping to drag your country down. Here's some examples of openly gay network TV presenters in Britain: Graham Norton - chat show host BBC Alan Carr - chat show host Channel 4 Jane Hill - newsreader BBC There's loads more but quite honestly nobody in Britain gives a stuff
