Don't most people who follow sport do so mostly on TV? Does that mean they feel less "personally" involved just because they're not physically there? But it's OK, Y_B. I get it. You're not impressed by Phelps. Maybe you'd prefer it if he hadn't been the most successful athlete at London 2012. And yeah, my comment was an overblown cliché, but I admit I've been caught up and gripped by so many of the fantastic events and athletes in this Olympics (OK it helps that it's a "home" games and that everything is being shown live on 24 channels of widescreen HD TV). And people will still be talking about this guy long after you and I have turned to dust and been forgotten. Just sayin

No, it's the end Bill. Way to go - right at the top! As the man said after his final race (yet another Gold!): "I've been able to do everything that I wanted ... If you can say that about your career, there's no need to move forward. Time for other things." It's been a real privilege to watch his final races.

London Olympics and the Palace of Fine Arts
Zombie commented on Ashi's blog entry in Blashi Blog Blog
Nice piece Ashi. It's good to get your perspective on the ceremony and to have your background on San Francisco, the city you love **Spoiler Alert** Somebody whispered to me that Her Majesty didn't actually leap from that helicopter clutching her handbag. I reprimanded him for spreading malicious gossip -
Yeah, good call Y_B. The guy's completely washed up. What a national embarrassment ... London 2012 Gold -100m butterfly Gold - 200m Individual Medley Gold - 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Silver - 100m butterfly Silver - 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Still to race - 4x100m relay Phelps has just gone to flab, flapping around like a drowning gutbucket ... And his poor Mum, the shame and humiliation ... Oh, and Tyler Clary? Um, that would be one medal (gold). Still pretty impressive but is that a smirk on his face or a look of wonder?

I've never been impressed with US advertising. As so many of you have already said these ads are offensive because they're cr*p. Advertising says so much about the company so if companies want to go down this route they'd better get it right. Here's an example of how it can be done with style and wit:

Well done Chad le Clos! Gotta say I was moved by his emotion on the podium as his lower lip wobbled and tears began to flow Michael Phelps is his hero - I can't imagine how he must have felt at that moment. And Phelps was so gracious in defeat, staying with Chad and showing him "how it's done" afterwards with the press and public. But Chad is a serious hottie I think I'm in love ...

You need to understand that for China the Beijing Olympics were just a tool for advancing its foreign policy objectives. When the Beijing Games finished the Chinese Govt had no further use for the stadium and switched focus elsewhere, hence the sad state you see today. In the UK the future of the 2012 stadium has been linked to football but the problem is suitability. Fans want to be closer to the action - if they need binoculars they might as well stay at home and watch it on telly

This Week's Gay Short Film 7/26/12
Zombie replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
Well I guess the clue was in the title OK, for anyone who needs cheering up after that here's a really sweet gay short from Argentina ... and nobody dies!!! Oh, and stay for the credits - the track written for the film is well worth hearing -
Just catching up on stuff and learned of the theft Horrible thing to happen, KC. So personal - your works are your babies. Contemptible. Stupid too, if the whole story or chunks have just been copied, because it's so detectable and provable. Hope the jerk suffers *thinks voodoo dolls and sharp pins * Neat confrontation with the She-Devil. The evil hag-bag's day of reckoning edges closer. Looking forward to hearing the screams of anguish and teeth gnashing when she's exposed and packed off to her doooom

No Don't want to diss your mum but she's wrong For me there are two stages - accepting your own sexuality (took me a long time even though, looking back, I now see I knew from an early age); and revealing your sexuality (or staying locked in the closet)

the only difference between men and boys is the size of their toys ... I love gadgets and gizzmos and the noisier the better. Found this YouTube vid of an old WWII jet engine that was rescued from a scrapheap and restored - what a fantastic thing to have to play with ! So what stuff do you have or lust after?

Hahahah joann, you made me laugh - when I first read that my (myopic male ) brain saw "I put on a pair of stretch capris, and oversize teeth to run to the store ..."

Yikes, I don't want to be alarmist but there is evidence is linking small UV lights and skin cancer. I've just done a quick Google and found this (I'm sure there's lots more you can find): http://www.nytimes.c...3real.html?_r=1 You need to keep records of all your discussions, gather evidence of the equipment you are issued with (maybe take photos of the UV lights and the type of gloves you're issued with that "don't work") and keep these records. I would also strongly recommend you see a Dr immediately for his opinion on the "bumps" before they disappear and also to have these lesions recorded on your medical records. You must also get effective UV protection for your eyes and always use it. This is most important e.g. to reduce the risk of eye cataracts. Good luck

The Open Championship started today. Whodya think's gonna take the claret jug? Tiger Woods has not won a major since 2008. Of course he's had injuries - there was the "car crash" - and then there was that, er, wick dipping distraction ... So far he's in a good position *tries to avoid smutty entendres* ... will this be his cum-back? (ooops failed heheheh) or who else would you pick from the field?

Why do people hang toilet paper against the wall so you have to scrabble for it when it's obvious it's gotta hang towards you so you can grab it *adds this to growing collection of OCDs *

You need to keep a record of your communications. I suggested email because that is a clear record but if you are happy to talk to people then keep a clear written record of who you spoke, what was said, and the date and time. You never know when you might need this so better safe than sorry If you have a line manager you could raise your concerns with them - show them your injuries and explain why you can't wear gloves and request a medical review. I don't know how big your employer is or which country you're in so it's difficult to advise. The important thing is to identify the condition, receive any necessary treatment and agree how you can change your working practice to prevent recurrence.

You're absolutely right Gene. I have XP (hey, I like it ) and I am obviously so egocentric that I was only thinking about myself when I posted that . Thanks for the correction - all you guys with swanky modern OS's can rest easy

Hi Jonathan and welcome to GA - the one-stop-shop for all your health and safety at work issues ... Seriously, some flux can be nasty - so if it were me I'd probably do this: 1/ Ask employer to confirm by email flux brand and type 2/ Email your symptoms and request email reply advice and medical review 3/ Take copies of emails (e.g. printouts) as evidence 4/ Google flux brand and type for user guidance and health hazards e.g. skin damage, toxic fumes etc 5/ If not happy with employer medical review get your own 6/ If it looks bad get a no win no fee lawyer!

Wow, ectoplasmic cum. That's gotta be a first KC But, er, how does a ghost produce "hot" cum, and the "warmth" of Tanner's body - is this a Bobby-in-the-shower moment ...?

Just remember that support for Windows XP will be stopped in 2014 (will continue for newer OSs) WARNING My advice is only ever download software from the company site and be especially wary of other sites offering free AV software. Sometimes (often?) those sites can be either compromised, or scams to infect your computer even more which is the exact opposite of what you want I tested sites mentioned in this thread using a free rating site http://www.mywot.com : http://download.cnet...ivirus-software WOT shows 178 people have reported spyware / adware issues e.g.- trojans were installed onto my computer, while the spyware analysis team at download.com insisted that the download was completely safe.- I discovered ads on the site pointing to scam websites and rogue software.- caught three trojans on a download.and my web search spyware diaabled my security center - Download.com wraps downloads in bloatware, lies about motivations http://cnet.com WOT shows 19 people have reported malicious viruses and 37 people spyware / adware issues e.g.- CNet is starting to place a proprietary "wrapper" around the downloads which can install additional software (toolbars) that are not part of the what the user asked for.- requires Babylon adware toolbar to be installed on your computer each and every time that you download from C-net . This toolbar is very difficult to uninstall and now has many forums on the internet with customers complaining of the inability to uninstall this tool bar which you cannot opt out of when downloading anything from Cnet- I refuse to download anything from them ever again. (Unless they publicly admit they are complete morons.- download ended up installing a infected toolbar (known as STARTNOW TOOLBAR, which I have been trying to get rid of all day. These practices are unacceptable in my eyes. I purchased downloaded lots of stuff through CNET in the past and they lost a valuable long time customer and a good rating from me. I have notified everyone I know to beware of these practices and I recommend you do the same No you're not stuck with it. Why wait 3 years????? Mcaffe can't force you to keep using it. If it's as bad as you say it is then dump and get a free and better AV like AVAST and Malwarebytes (which I use - they're great, I get daily AVAST AV updates, they're comprehensive and not a trial / time limited) or Microsoft security essentials which Gene recommends highly which will do a better job, won't hog CPU and won't cost you any more than you've already paid because it's free too And here's a final WARNING Do not run two real time AVs together. They will fight each other and become less effective than if you just had one installed! Play safe Edit: to correct error pointed out by Gene

To many issues for healthy people to pop this pill.

Hmm, don't know about those, but there is documentary evidence that King James I was either gay or bisexual as well as Edward II (you know, the red hot poker guy - ouch )
