Yeah, but Devin had his tween and teen years to learn it all - Mac has the summer to cram as much as he can. A daunting task at the very least. The weather here is hot and humid. While the actual temp is in the high 90s, the 'feels like' temp will top 110 today 😓💦

I think the book title says it all. They have been separated for years, so there is plenty for Mac to learn about Devin. You gotta know from reading Bill W's other stories that he isn't going to leave stuff hanging out there unresolved for too long. I couldn't have said it better myself!

I think the "key" scene shows Mac is asserting himself to have an equal footing in the relationship. Neither Devin nor Mac have been in a serious relationship before, so naturally there will be some awkward attempts in defining themselves and their positions in this relationship. It's Devin's SUV and Devin's family house, while Mac only has himself to bring to the relationship. Talk about a power imbalance in a relationship! Devin has had more exposure to the world by moving multiple times and attending different schools while living in multiple households. Mac has grown up in that one house with middle-class parents - both parents working to make ends meet. He has had the same group of school kids in his life, but none are close friends. He lost his best friend and then his siblings resulting in sheltering and over-protection from his parents. I think it doesn't matter to Devin who has the key any more than it matters who has the bag of snacks - they share and share alike. Devin could have just as easily resolved this by handing the key to Mac to hold showing they were in this together. I don't think it crossed his mind to resolve it this way because he lacked experience in a serious relationship.

Great job! I really disliked Torry by chapter 4, but I couldn't figure out his hook. You did a really good job of keeping the source of Torry's power hidden from the reader while dropping hints along the way. Looking back, they are easy to see, just well crafted into the storyline. I like that Kevin, Sarah and James Mitt become friends in the end. ~e

What an awesome story! I wasn't sure about the western-theme, but the high recommendation of the other readers got me to give it a change. You should be quite proud of the story you created. ~e

Alright Low Flyer, be fair to the readers who haven't. Some people say that the chapter Wheels within Wheels contains no cliffie and others say they don't find one cliffie - I'll have to go with that group's opinion on this one.

To better explain the 'team' perspective, CJ is assigned to create the cliffies and deny they exist and the rest of the team is assigned to carefully point out their existence without giving CJ one smidgen of leeway to use against us. Looks like Low Flyer failed this time. In CJ's efforts to enlist me in denying the existence of a cliffie, he threatened to kill off a much beloved character if I didn't do it. I strenuously resisted the pressure and so far, the character remains alive. Time will tell.

I know you had to work extra hard to get the chapter out the door, but you didn't have to break the site to get an extra week - just post that you need the time, for cliffhanger's sake!

You really think you can get Trevor safely back to Florida, find his Mom and get hitched to a stellar guy in 20 chapters? :wacko: Don't get me wrong, Oh Great King Cliffie. You know I love your stories, but you have about as much success at predicting the number of chapters the story will run as any local weather forecaster does predicting when it will rain! :ranger:
