that's just the point, there are times when we all act like asshat's. Teddy's father is worried about?? oh yeah Oli, Teddy, Ryder, his parenting ability - so why would he ever dare to have a suck attack. One of the great things about this story is that the characters are complicated and multi-dimensional and not just cardboard cut-outs that are simple and predictable
-
Travlbug Said: He doesn't understand what Ryder sees in his brother but defends their relationship to Harry. He doesn't seem to respect Teddy as a doctor and discounts the nice things that Teddy does for him, but he'll become fiercely protective and fight in his brother's defence at school. Deep down, I'm sure that he loves Teddy, but their relationship is still broken. Oli's relationship with Teddy doesn't seem broken to me. Fighting when you are together and standing up for each other to others - seems downright solid to me. Oli has lived in the shadow of the family dealing with Teddy's pain from Ryder without ever understanding that pain. He is right to feel a righteous resentment and anger but every chapter has shown that in spite of it all they care deeply for each other

Most kids Oli's age are insecure and would find something to obsess over. knowing that his parents will accept him is different from worrying that they had some expectations of him. Parents in turn, never want their kids to be hurt and their protectiveness can be misread. But Oli is lucky that his sexuality, whatever he finds is right for him, will be welcomed.

a fantastic start. I hope it focuses on the "fathers" rather than just the boys, less travelled territory.

Wow, you really nailed the connections between Teddy, Ryder, Oli, Cait,Mike and even Nate. - powerful,... and ominous

“I’m not a kid anymore. I know what’s best for me. I know the risks I’m taking dating him again. I know that this will at least give me closure, and you know what? Maybe you need to go visit him too.” Teddy is definitely still a kid emotionally, BUT, he is starting to grow up. And shucks, ain't he cute when he is acting like a kid.

This is one very dark story.

You are a cruel writer. You have these two wonderful puppies and you are going to put them through hell. I think I will have to call the SPCA on you. So... when is the next chapter coming??
-
Congrats Ace!. The discussion here and all our strong POVs regarding the family dynamics are proof of how you have engaged us once again

By my guess, Mrs Haner is mid 50s now. Having a teenager at 40 and 55 is different especially if that teen is Oli at 13. The trouble with teens is sometimes they act there age, sometimes well beyond their years and sometimes they still need to be a kid and have a suck attack. And you never know which version you will see. You nailed Oli.

How man times have we said that over the course of this story - It's an emotional roller coaster

Teddy or Ryder? They are both emotionally stuck in the ditch. I love Cait, she is very wise for 26

Three Months in the Summer
Rndmrunner commented on Aceinthehole's story chapter in Three Months in the Summer
We gone down the rabbit hole. In book 1 Ryder was the dysfunctional one. Now Teddy takes the Kardashian prize for dysfunctional families. Does anyone say wha they really mean: therapist lie to Oli, Teddy is still part adolescent living at home and can't even professionally stitch up Oli without lying to him. And Ryder, he is accepting treatment only to please Teddy not for his own reasons. Things will get very messy. Finally what decade is this story set in with the sterilizing of the needles (single use packages anyone ) -
Ace, you are doing something right when readers are taking shots at your characters. Keep let them get under our skin! Teddy stuck in the role of Prince Charming or the great Doctor saving the day is just boring. Showing different sides of these guys and keeping them real is a true talent.

I have a 14 year old who has discovered Waterpark, maybe not a Metal band but it is the centre of their world right now.Book 2 will be interesting. Teddy is already starting to heal his wounds and become emotionally adult. Maybe by age 31 he will move out on his own. Ryder hasn't found his core yet, hopefully he will come to like himself or at least make peace with himself.

Teddy Haner to the E.R! Teddy Haner to the E.R!
Rndmrunner commented on Aceinthehole's story chapter in Teddy Haner to the E.R! Teddy Haner to the E.R!
This isn't the last chapter. It definitely reads more like the first chapter of Book 2. Everything looks to be setting up future events, especially with the 14 year time leap. That probably holds whether Ryder lives, - or not. Ace, I really like how you expressed the feelings (both old and festering and new and raw) through the characters interactions and outside their head. -
The classics include Comedies and Tragedies and great romantic novels. They are not Kardashian sideshows though tracking the emotional train wreck of the characters lives. Main characters may live or die but there is a underlying theme, in Velocity there was no other ending that could work. . Killing off characters can bring a huge emotional wallop to a story but more is needed. Amy Winehouse's life was not just a spiral toward death, it was about a creative force that burnt too brightly. Her relationships were through music. Ryder is cut differently hopefully.

What happened to Ryder's grandmother is heartbreaking. A small consolation is that she was true to Ryder and left him in capable hands. Teddy has taken up her torch and will stand by Ryder. ryder will do the same for Teddy and Grandma Sullivan should be proud

The intensity of the story blows me away. The daily chapters are addictive. Ace you have created an evil dependency!!
-
Incredible chapter. Ryder's surprise was great but it still caused Teddy pain. At some point showmanship is selfish. I was worried because of the chapter title that Mike was lurking to assault Ryder after the half-time show. I worry that he is the creepy homophobe who rents that Ryder stole his boyfriend away even as he calls him faggot.

The word "awesome" has become a cliche. But every now and then something knocks you off your feet and it is the only word possible. AWESOME. You captured the energy, the momentum, the intensity and the humanity of Ryder's rise and Ryder and Teddy's passion.

Sort of like before Hurricane Maria, people feared the worst and hoped for the best, some got hit full force and others escaped safely. Let's hope for the best for Teddy and Ryder and those they care for. Get the plywood and duct tape out, fill the bathtub with fresh water, bring in supplies and hunker down
-
Oh Oh rough seas ahead. It was good to see the guys kick back, relax and take stock of what is important to them. Ryder prospects (and challenges) changing fast and they will need to be solid. For your readers, it is always a delight though
-
I didn't tear up but that doesn't mean that I didn't find the chapter powerful. I felt it deep, deep inside. Reading the letter, first there was a giant emptiness, a gaping hole, and then a warmth began filling the great void. I hope for Ryder that he had a similar experience. Teddy has grown so much. Present for Ryder but able to stay in the background and have strength in his silence. Ryder, Teddy and his gran are all good for each other

Ryder and Teddy are burning brightly. Son't let them burn out - hell don't burn your readers out. This is wonderful, deep, real and exhausting and that just reading it. You not only gave us a double dose but each part was very emotional. The boys are growing and growing together.
