There was a little unicorn trying to hoof a rainbow out of all those dark storm clouds. It was good to see Joey and Allen both let their shields down and be honest with one another. As much as everyone is warning them not thorn the other, they are finally opening themselves up to the possibility of hurt again and with the potential for love
Joey is starting to live again. It is tentative steps though. He has relationships with Ticker, star and Allen now. Hopefully he takes care of himself until he learns that some of his present pain is simply due to letting down his shields and being a little more engaged with others
Jake and Kaiden are wonderfully real. They can be both brave and insecure, kind and careless as we all are but they each have their own personality which stays true. I enjoy how Kaiden is learning the difference between being popular and being a leader.
It is interesting that they both think of the other as the "cool" one. Lovely chapter. I love Josh, he is so relaxed, Kay could learn a thing or two from his little brother.
You catch the reality of Joey and Allen's situation perfectly. Even as they take steps to deal with their circumstances and their growing attraction, they can not escape the reality that they both still have daunting hurdles to overcome in just everyday requirements; Allen's health and how he is treated and Joey's problems of family, school and peers will not go away either. Thank goodness for Star the eternal optimist! She has her work cut out for her.
I love how the characters are getting deeper, they have their good and bad sides and their quirks but retain their essential character. Great exchange between Robbie and Daniel
This is lovely, light and playful and serious and deep at the same time, a delicate balance. i really like what we have seen of Kay. Jakes is still pretty mysterious - to Kay and to us. Can't wait for more
Paul is concerned with half the frosting so slice the top half of the frosting off, as for the actual cake, Paul seems less concerned with what his share is. This is not so much "halfing" your cake and eating it but having cake and eating half the frosting.
Thanks for the story and the puzzle
You just had to eave us hanging, not knowing what or if Daniel heard anything or was just reacting to Robbie and Nicola being friends again. Robbie keeps trying to run away from his troubles, hopefully he goes to Nathan first. As bad as that may be, avoiding and hoping the problem will go away will be worse. Good Luck Robbie... and don't F#^*k it up
Great story. I love how Cal's tough shell was slowly worn away by Davey. It was great that Cal finds the family he always wanted/needed in the end but I don't think that dropping the letter in the bin means that he can just walk away form the pain. Even Cinderella (or Cinderfella) probably had to struggle with the memories of her step family after Prince Charming came along.
Dodger you have really taken it up notch in the last few chapters. You manage to be serious but at the same time let the playful aspects of the characters show through. Congrats
I like how the story underlines that Dominant, Submissive or anything else, we all have to step up and take responsibility. you can't abrogate your voice.
I am in awe of the complexity of the emotional landscape that Call navigates. You have captured his maturity against a sea of conflicting emotions and yet the character reads sane, strong and coherent. AMAZING!!!!
In a healthy democracy, citizens do not take up arms against each other nor need to take the rule of law into their own hands. Is there a civil war underway or just a war against civility?
