For LGBT literature, I would have to say:
Ethan Mordden's original trilogy:
I've a Feeling We're Not in Kansas Anymore: Tales from Gay Manhattan, 1985
Buddies, 1986
Everybody Loves You:
In general it is hard to pick but currently it is "Let the Great World Spin" by Colum McCann
You capture Cal's internal life perfectly. It was like a mini-cliffhanger having to endure the space when Cal's brain overloaded with the arrival of the police officer but it was also very real and in keeping with his character
It has suddenly gotten very real for Cindefella. Good thing his price Charming is a solid guy (not like that whinger in The Paper Bag Princess*"
* a lovely children's book for awesome girls and all the boys in their lives
Thanks for another great chapter
All the pressure is on Cal. He is going to have to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up as it suddenly seems right around the corner. It will be interesting to see if Davey ever meets Cal's mum
And sometimes a story is just a story. While I feel strongly about safe sex, it did not occur to me in the context of the chapter. The chapter was about the two moving forward. Condoms could have been implied or not..
Great story.
Cal is wonderfully f*cked up. He really grows on you. I like how he follows his heart. Beneath the hardened exterior lurks a fresh teenager (emotionally). Its going to be a bumpy ride but hopefully it pays off.
The characters are real and a little quirky which is always a plus for me. Its nice to come to a story late and be able to binge read for a while! On to chapter 3...
I think Teddy is awesome.
He has real insecurities and acts like a dick sometimes and cares way too much what others think - just like most teens. Ryder is cool but thank god we can;t relate to hime the same way because his path is the harder one to take and to really understand it you have to have lived it. Teddy we can totally get because most of us have experienced some of it ourselves
A lovely chapter. The characters of Alex, Robbie, Nicola, and the others are getting even more developed. It will be interesting to see how much Don has grown as well. Will it be enough?
As remember this was to be something light for summer. Well you failed that and instead we are treated to a wonderfully complex story that engages and demands attention. Not a read for the beach. Ain't it grand.
Interesting progress with Paddy and Sacha, now he is spending the night - I am sure in separate rooms and under supervision but he is obviously more accepted as a boyfriend for their daughter now.
You probably will, young teens lead the trends, especially when the singer is also still a teen. All I will say is better than Bierber, but we are way off topic now
At least some Canadians do not hate you for detesting Celine Dion and you can keep the Beiber. Just don;t trash Shawn Mendez or my kid will declare a culture war.
That was cruel to end the chapter with Troy getting ready to confront his family about Jayden. I am sure that they will get through it but it may be messy. They all understand that Troy is barely dealing with his loss but his hurt is devastating others as well. This is my way of saying - Great Story!!
Things are coming together nicely. Toby and Tara are still fumbling to determine who will take the lead or how to share nicely. It will be an interesting journey for them.
Troy at a deep level knows that it is safe to take his anguish out on his family but he hasn't got enough acceptance to consider how his actions hurts those same people. Well done!
I feel like such a cheater. I came to the story late and have devoured it over 2 days ending with the latest instalment featuring Silas and Oliver's wedding. I did however miss out on the frisson of the waits between chapters.
Lovely chapter and lovely story.
