Ace, your characters continue to surprise, astound and touch me

I love this story. Let me repeat that, I love this story. Okay now the hard part: the explanation of how Pat and Declan got separated doesn't add up. Children can't be adopted or made wards of the state without birth certificates. Tax filings, wills, estate processing, life insurance, friends, family, church members would all be aware of two children. They could still get separated but not because no one knew. Enough said, did I say that I love this story.

When Jamie was being consoled on the plane before takeoff, i fully expected Sam to arrive and take the seat net to him. I am still holding out that Sam may pay a visit stateside to catch up with our hero. -
@Graeme I remembered your situation and I am also aware that we sometimes have complicated family relationships. My own is that my partner and I have a child who also has contact with the biological mother. It is all good but it gets complicated. I am glad that your stories include the varied richness of wider experiences.

i really don't know what to write. This story grips me in a very unique way. Eli's talk with Riley brought tears to my eyes. you don't pul any punches Ace!

I always look forward to another instalment and was not disappointed. I have to say I like how you handle the Sam and Marcus thread. There are lots of stories and models for coming out in your teens. While Liam had a girlfriend that he had to make peace with after coming out, it is far more complicated if you have married and have children. It is easy to say and to react as if the person has simply been living a lie but being gay (lesbian) doesn't nullify that you also loved your (straight) spouse just that you couldn't love them fully. I am glad you have developed this thread.

Riley might get closure, but it won't come just because David gets punished by the Saints. Great chapter Ace, Riley seems more vulnerable now that he has a family - i guess he' has something to lose.

For Riley to be able to tell people that he loves them is a huge step. His whole life he has never been able to count on anyone so to declare his trust and love is a brave step. As always, I love this story and all your writing Ace.

So you get your readers hooked and then work up to a huge cliffhanger so you can tell us that this is the last chapter for a while - NASTY!

I had prepared a comment and then I read BlindAmbition's words and I have nothing else to add. In a funny way I am ambiguous about the story continuing. I want it to conclude because Riley is reaching a really good place and while life is never Happily Ever After, this is a good starting point for the future. I want it to continue because it is riveting and I so enjoy each instalment.

Ace, this was a truly amazing chapter. I get so drawn into the moment that it comes as a surprise to realize that it is over and it will be another week to get the next instalment. Riley under his tough exterior is such a sweet kid. He has really needed his tough exterior though to survive.

Great chapter and great story: there is a really unique element in this story that is new and fresh, all bundled up in a classic romance. -
Its ironic that part of Pat's pain is a result of his now having a loving family and he better understands what he missed out on for many years. He feels wanted and unwanted at the same time. I have faith that the boys and Riley will take care of him.

Chapter was lovely, hilarious (for everyone except Andy) I don't why everyone is so down on poor Bob. He is a lovely Bob and true to form. He has also been a good boss to Andy despite the fact (or because of it) that he is just a bloke.

The good was that it was Saturday and another chapter would be published, the bad news is 14 days to go till the next. As was already reported, there was a lot of ground covered here but the field is set up for the action to play out. Great Chapter

When you talk to hints as to the relationships are you using "air quotes" ??

there was a look joy written into this chapter: the excitement of the race, the obvious affection of the uncles/fathers to their nephews/sons, the joy of the two boys winning, and, ......

I get that Connor is frustrated that he is in enforced celibacy with he arrival of Leon. i am surprised however that he is suprised. Having no back-up, does he think that he can put Leon in a cupboard and have a fling for a couple of hours??? Poor Connor.

Wesley, I can fully understand how much that hurts, but if Riley (or you) have reached a better place, it could also help him move forward. Riley is not his birth father and understanding those differences is as important as any similarities. It would still $@$#^^&g hurt though Each chapter brings Riley stronger connections and he is learning something from each one. This chapter, it was Grandma and his brothers. There will be setbacks but Riley is getting stronger and has a better chance.
