    Mainly medical update

I loved that film. Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase were great in it. Chemo-induced neuropathy is a horrible side effect, and sadly it is quite a common one. It's one of the few side effects that a treatment has never been found for, except reducing the dose. Many of the kids on my ward can cope with the sickness, diarrhoea, and hair loss, but they really struggle with peripheral neuropathy as kids are so tactile. Hope you enjoy San Francisco, and that the neuropathy resolves soon.

  5. So poor Steve can either eat proper Gummy Bears and go into a coma, or eat these special German ones and go through a dozen rolls of Purex Ultra and a very large jar of vaseline. A friend of mine is diabetic and we actually bake a lot of cakes, cookies and the such for when she wants something to nibble on. I also make a lot of lemon curd for her (I make a sugarless one for her) which she uses for dipping fruit. It really sucks when you can't eat whatever you want.

    Prompt 293

Thanks for the review. I knew someone would want more There are so many options for a novella, and I probably will write one, but I've just got so many projects on the go at the minute. It's always interesting to see how different people use the words, and I usually try and find an unusual choice for at least one of the words. I loved the original Village of the Damned, never really liked the Kirsty Alley remake.

    Prompt 293

Thanks Ron, glad you liked the story. These "list of word" prompts can seem easy as there are only five words to use anyhow you like and the story can be any genre, but the real challenge is not making the "words" obvious. Sometimes I succeed (like with this one) and sometimes I fail.

    Prompt 293

Thanks for reviewing hun I felt sorry for Loring as well. The ending does leave so many options open.

    Prompt 293

Nobody knew where he had come from. His story was like something from that film ‘The Village of the Damned’. On June 11th 2000, at twenty three minutes past eleven in the morning, there had been an unexpected solar eclipse over the quiet little Welsh village of Skewen. Nowhere else in the entire United Kingdom recorded a solar eclipse that day, and the story of the ‘Skewen Mystery’, as it was dubbed, was covered in every major national newspaper and even a few of the regional magazines as wel

  13. What happens on a stag do stays on the stag do, Kitt A friend of mine (who is gay) had his stag in Prague. Six of us had an insane weekend there. We went to several . . . ahem . . . adult-orientated establishments . . . that saw young gentlemen displaying their wares. Since my hubby was one of the six, he definitely would not permit to have my stag in Prague. Given some of the things the two of us have gotten up to abroad in similar establishments, I would only be allowed to have my stag do in a monastery
  14. You know me so well.
  15. Happy birthday Tim
  16. I'd love to see this being introduced in schools over here. Section 28 was repealed a decade ago, yet very few UK schools dare to formally teach anything about the LGBTQ community. For those unaware, Section 28 basically prohibited the promotion of teaching "the acceptability of homosexuality as a family relationship" in state schools. Yeah, our government was dumb in the 1980s. Here's hoping this helps educate people and will make the life of gay kids in school a lot easier.
  17. Happy birthday Cassie
  18. An important health message. It is precisely for this reason that people are advised to take tablets with water. And it's not just not with prescription meds. The same even applies to over the counter stuff like Aspirin or Anadin. We also advise the kids who are having chemotherapy to avoid fruit juices the day before, the day of, and the day after chemo. We've never had a severe reaction, but there are a few doctors who think many of the chemo side effects are worsened by fruit juices.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reviewing. I've always thought the two boys make a cute, but bizarre couple

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review Suvitar. I remember I was crying myself when writing the ending.

  22. In modern times it's far too easy to right click on the mouse and see the magical long list of fancy words appear courtesy of MS Word's thesaurus. Do that to a few words in a sentence and you can up with some nonsensical rubbish like: The natural satellite elevated beyond the perspective and stood out on the abundant turf When what you actually meant was: The moon rose above the horizon and shone on the lush meadow
  23. You can only say that on the day of a second full moon in a month, and only when that happens on a Tuesday Welcome to GA
