A recent assignment was to produce six short fan fictions based on three literary works.

My Welsh is conversational at best. Since my mum never bothered learning the language, and with being raised in London, I never had the chance to learn it as a child. I've been learning it over the past couple of years, but I really only get the chance to use it when I'm with my cousins and their kids (since they live in Wales, they are required to learn Welsh at school). So, sadly I'm not as fluent as I'd like to be. I do know a few obscenities in Welsh (and some more in half a dozen other languages) that would most likely get me banned from GA for life

We actually observe All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day separately (All Saints' Day was yesterday, and All Souls' Day is today). My great-aunt (who is deeply religious, yet very supportive of my partner and I) has been making soul cakes all day long ahead of services this evening. I'm not. I just don't have the time to devote to it If it had been next month then I would have, but I've got several tight deadlines this month at work, plus working on my anthology stories, plus getting my next portfolio of writing done for my creative writing course. I started once in 2008, but about a week into it I was rushed into hospital with obstructive jaundice and gallstones. Then I tried again in 2010, but family stuff and work stuff conspired against me. So my manager returned to work early last week, and her welcome back was, shall we say, less than friendly. She has received several size sevens up her backside (primarily from her manager and the manager who was covering for her), and the top information manager for the hospital (who I've only met once) apparently jumped on her with both feet. We had our team meeting this morning, and we have been told that our manager has just tended her resignation - though we all think she was probably asked to. So, only four weeks left, then we will be free of her. The new database has passed all QA checks, and went live on Monday. It's working well, so at least all of my hard work is paying off. I love Comsie's writing, and it's amazing that his short stories are as good as, and a few are even better than, his multi-chapter stories like GFD and A Class by Himself. I've been slowly working my way through his shorter stories, but I haven't gotten to this one yet. I think I'll make this one my next stop off on my tour of ComsieWorld

So yesterday was my GA first anniversary. When I first came to GA it was really just to read some brilliant stories, and hopefully find a few authors I'd never read before. I really didn't plan or even expect to be where I am now - having posted 15 stories (and 30 some prompt stories) and 127k+ words, and recently having joined the blog team. I certainly didn't expect to get to know so many great people - I'm not gonna start naming names because there's just too many of you great people out there in GA land. When I started posting my stories I received some much needed encouragement (and the occasional boot up the jacksie) from Cia. Without her help and input, I know I wouldn't be enjoying writing as much as I do. So I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone here who has made this such a great place to be over the past year. Whether you've read any of my stories and left reviews, whether we've been catching up in chat, or having fun in the forums, this has been a great place to be. I guess I should end with a thank you to Myr for all his hard work keeping this great place up and running. Well, here's to the next 365 days!!
