  1. I sometimes forget about Cole It's nice to see him in the limelight.
  2. What a welcome home! I can't see the boys having done it, but I can't say I feel sorry for the scoutmaster's kid. As they say, "karma's a bitch". I really don't like the sound of this detective he reminds me too much of the social worker who tried to get the boys taken away.
  3. I presume the inheritance laws have been changed since 1938 - don't forget Charles is divorced and he is first in line to the throne (Anne and Andrew are also divorced but are still in the line of succession). I'd like to second Mike in thanking our American friends for their kind words, and if it was up to me you'd get to share in the four-day weekend.
  4. Kodi and I sat on the bed watching the TV wearing those really fluffy Hilton dressing gowns; I’ve never been one for dressing gowns but these are so comfy. I got us a couple of cokes from the minibar. “Eight Euros for a Coke! Who the Hell do they think we are! The bloody Rothschild’s?” I said. Kodi laughed at me and said, “Well we can always go into the lounge area and they’re free.” There was a knock on the door and Kodi, still laughing, got up to open it. “Hey dad.” “What’s up boys?”
  5. Happy birthday Stu. Wishing you a great day.
  6. I've just looked at the betting odds to win the group stage and something looks very off to me: France 7/4, England 15/8, Ukraine 9/2, Sweden 13/2 Is something going on with Sweden I've missed, I thought they were a far better team than being the group outsiders (and outsiders by this much)? They were the top runners up in the quals, they won 8 out of 10 games (only losing to the table winners, the Dutch, and to a last minute goal by Hungary). Although England won their table, they only won 5 out 8 games and in a far easier group than the Swedes. IMHO England's group quals should have been a walk in the park given the other teams involved. I think the bookies may have this one wrong.
  7. England may not even reach the quarter finals - it looks like we've got a tough group. France, Sweden and co-hosts Ukraine.
  8. I'm backing England . . . to go out in the quarter finals on penalties

    Hideous

Yeah, you got me good there Cia. I loved it.
  10. My issue with Maslow is to what extent the various D-needs of each hierarchy need to be satisfied before we are driven to attain anything at the next level. Maslow's hierarchy has also been criticised as being ethnocentric. Maslow only looked at the healthiest 1% of the college student population and is quoted as saying "the study of crippled, stunted, immature, and unhealthy specimens can yield only a cripple psychology and a cripple philosophy." Our "friend" would clearly fit into this stunted and immature category ignored by Maslow. However, I do agree with my learned colleague Mike that Maslow (for it's faults) is probably the best starting point. My only disagreement with Mike is over "food". I very rarely purchase processed foods. I spent a lot of time growing up with my great grandmother and we always used fresh meat. I could prepare liver, kidneys and heart before I could ride a bike. We never wasted a single part of the animal carcass - bones were used to make stocks, off cuts were used in pies and so on. Fresh fruit and veg was also used on a daily basis. I think with careful guidance we can help our islander avoid the dietary problems at this stage. In the "physiological" stage Maslow also includes "sex", which Mike did not mention - however I'm going to assume that our islander has little to no understanding beyond the basic sex drive. Maslow does not equate sexual intimacy and the sexual act as the same thing - something I suppose many of us can agree with (Maslow himself has placed sexual intimacy on the third level, after our safety). So quite to what extent our islander (or indeed anyone) needs to have "sex" fulfilled before he wants to strive for needs further up the hierarchy I don't know. Mike ends with what would become the start of the second level of Maslow's hierarchy; specifically where he will live. This is the start of physical safety. So, I think the debate now becomes how quickly will our islander acclimatise to the point at which the second level of Maslow's hierarchy becomes important. In spite of both Mike and I using Maslow as our guide, I think there will be that inevitable early jump to part of Maslow's second stage. Without the basics of physical safety being met, I don't think our islander has much hope of surviving in our world. He will need to have the personal security needs met fairly quickly, but at this early stage the financial, and to a lesser extent the well-being, safety aspects obviously are not a concern at this stage.
  11. My deepest condolences to his friends and family at this difficult time. He will remain with us all through his writing.
  12. Thanks for the review and the kind words Tom. After much harassment from certain members who shall go nameless, I have started a second book of Kyle and Kodi.
  13. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, my thoughts and prayers are with you
  14. I can remember back when you wanted to make a phonecall you had you get your 10p coins together and go up to the phonebox. When you were out of coins your phonecall was over. I don't use supermarkets for my grocery shopping, never have and never will; they charge way over the odds. I get my meat from my local butchers and all of my fruit and veg comes from the local market stalls. It's fresh, seasonal, and less than a third of what the supermarkets charge.
  15. A truly heart-wrenching end to the book. It was some of the best and most heartfelt writing I've ever read. A really emotional past few hours for me, have run out of tissues. Keep up the great work.
  16. I'm a whisky person. Never once been drunk on whisky My favourite is a Highland single malt called Glen Ord which currently retails for around £50/US$80 for a 750ml bottle of the 12 year old. I did once buy a bottle of the 30 year old which retails at £200 for a 750ml bottle - very, very nice on Burn's Night with the haggis and clapshot. But I also like Jack Daniels.

    Chapter 7

Thanks for continuing to read and review Dolores. How the order will cope with this, I suppose depends on whether the entire order sanctioned these events or not.

    Chapter 7

Thanks for continuing to read and review Rebelghost. Yeah, that chapter got a hell of a lot darker and more twisted than I'd planned. I suppose a zealot can justify anything to themselves, even the brutal murder of those eight scientists. Whether it is the whole order or not remains to be seen.

    Chapter 6

A new chapter Continues to be a great read Tom. Seems like Gracchus might be trouble in the future.
  20. I was always a fan of Kerry Weaver from ER and Jack Mcfarland from Will and Grace. Though coming from the UK my all time favourite would have to be Zoe Tate from Emmerdale (formerly Emmerdale Farm).
  21. I'll say NJ in 6. Well done to my fellow Brit JC for doing so well. Two Brits currently in joint second I love it
  22. Bryn followed the archaeology team closely for the next three days. To: Council Leader Elizabeth Mary Tollin From: Ceidwadwy Bryn Jones Date: The nineteenth day, of the month of March, in the Year of Our Lord 1922 The docent here at Yddraigfawr’s tomb has informed me that The Second Marker remains intact. He has claimed that the Council did not issue orders to have the Second Marker destroyed; I do not know whether to believe him or not. I had thought the Council to be more diligent, I
  23. I'm glad Ricky's back. It just remains to be seen if he's matured during his time away or if he'll remain the Ricky we all know and love I know I've said it before, but I love the series.
  24. “Just how many more times can you do that?” Josh thought to himself as he dried his eyes, after crying for the fourth time that evening. The small blond-haired, blue-eyed boy looked around his room for the last time. He sighed deeply as he took in his bed, the non-descript decor, the rather large collection of books, and he wondered what tomorrow would bring. Tomorrow is his fourteenth birthday, and under the law, he is required to move into the palace. His name is Joshua Tierny and he is th
  25. To a 14 year old Andy, When having fun in the hot tub with Max, don't forget the neighbours can see you. Close the blinds! It was not the best way to out yourselves to the Munroe's. Your 33 year older and wiser self
