Theme song from The Valley of the Dolls. Dionne Warwick sang it originally, but K.D. Lang recorded it and it's beautiful. Growing up as a teen, this song meant a lot to me. I listened to it constantly.
Seems Rob's father is an ass and even at nineteen, Rob feels he has to live with him and put up with his crap.
Working together and starting a relationship has a lot of pros and cons. Hope you touch on a lot of that. There's a lot of stuff that is still just hanging out there. One thing is, why Rob's dad is such a shit.
Enjoying your story so far
First of all, well written. Easy flow, and no distractions from your text. The only thing that I thought went a little too fast was the bar scene. From dance with me to I'll be your sounding board? JMO, and this IS just the first chapter. I'll be on board to read more. This is a great story, and I'm not being critical at all. All in all I love it!
Tate has quite the "bear" family. You handled their introduction beautifully with the lighthearted interchange between the brothers.
Gavin evidently has a reason to have a bad taste in his mouth on relationships
The interloper sure caused a flurry of anger to erupt. Can't wait to see what and who this person has to do with Gavin, and why do I feel TAte would've throttled him if he'd hung around much longer. lol
My thoughts right now is this. Louis can switch gears in a heartbeat. After reading Imagine, and then this, I'm enthralled at your whole realm of writing, and how you do it. Both of these stories capture the reader, but each in its' own way. Just saying. I love it!
Beautiful story. You could use a beta and an editor, but that's entirely up to you. You're doing a wonderful job with the story line. If you'd like an editor and beta, just let me know, and I'll help you find one.
I betcha Birch's boss had to clean his pants when this was over. At least Sayer recognized the fact that the priest tried to help Birch. Great chapter, and love the little sprites helping
"I need a goddamned manual." Me too Birch, me too. I can understand why he is getting so short tempered. My understanding is that the human see what the fae want them to see. Our gifted nature lovers and outdoorsy type are the only ones that cross the line at times. Just my take on it so far.
Couldn't decided who would become the darkling, but you answered that question. I'm sure it will be a rocky work relationship between Croll and Birch. They'll certainly have to focus on what is best, and not on their antagonism toward each other.
Birch has got to be terrified for his mate. Sayer is taking a chance, but I have to think he's got his parents in the back of his mind as he does all of this. Still, he's walking into a vast darkness, unknowing how it will end
Love their appetite for each other and Birch's shyness makes it even better. For some reason, I'd love to read about these two as two middle aged faes. Would make for some fun reading.
Birch has his own ideas and SAyer listens to him. Looks like they maybe able not to only be one, but work together as one. I'm feeling sorry for the darkling now and wonder if they will find Sayer's parents. Lots of stuff to ponder here.
It's hard to tell who is the alpha here. On minute I think it is Sayer, and the next, Birch. Birch may have been human, but he's holding his own. Great chapter!
