    Oh, right - and I see Story Reviews in the list too on the Top Members tab. Hmm why couldn't I find it before ? Oh, well that's a relief, thanks.

    I just did a little nosing around in the Leaderboard feature. There are lots of choices like Story Comments and Story Chapters, either per day, week, month, year or all time, but Story Reviews is not featured. Is this a mistake or is there a technical reason ) A lot of the other choices (Reviews of Events, Albums, Questions) have no content, which seems logical, but I miss the Story Review option. I'd like to see which story reviews are considered good, and not just who has written most of them. Reason for edit: Bhopper2 showed me the list for Most Reviews is still there.

    Loved it - no cameras and no pulling out, just two men loving each other. I hope Erik mans up enough to say it as well as show it before he goes back to NY (I don't say home, because he's home wherever Ryan is).

    Tears and Fears, that's all I can say. Even knowing what happens in this chapter, and after, does not lessen the emotional impact. That's what being a brilliant author is all about.

    I was chuckling as I read all the heated (and a few defensive) comments about Tobyn. I'm glad you were prepared for the probable fall-out from this chapter. We were so focused on the two boys that we didn't discuss the impact Kellar's revelations must have had on the pack. He has turned their world upside-down too. What a shock this must be, but also one which holds out hope for the future. It's the revelation of the century, and one you've carefully built up to for 17 chapters - and it almost gets drowned out by the epic fuck-up afterwards. But the explanation remains one of my favorite moments in the whole story.

    I can finally point out the hint you gave when Kellar first met Elinor. He stood with his mouth open in surprise at meeting another shifter who had a similar pattern to one he knew already. At the time he had no clue why, but the talk with Miss Sybil made him almost certain. And now we also know why he thought Elinor's worry about not having a mechanic 'a golden opportunity.' It gave him the chance to bring up Denver and he cleverly manipulated the situation to make Elinor decide to go with them. I'm not surprised he didn't tell her or Tobyn - she would have been unbearably excited and he would have been unbearably grumpy on the whole trip. Oh, and I had to chuckle over the auto correct of earth mates.

    On my third read I fond it interesting how Tobyn instinctively trusts Kellar. He know he'll follow him and be understanding and respectful, both during their talk and when they need to sleep in the same bed. It's more than the trust you have for a best friend, but it's also not just due to them being earth mates. Tobyn knows Kellar is honorable and trustworthy and later Kellar may realize and appreciate the compliment. When it happened it was mostly frustrating and painful - and for your readers too. No more tonight, I'm off to bed. I wouldn't mind having a hunky shifter to sleep with.

    Yeah, Take a Thief is another favorite too, as is the Owl Trilogy. I don't know the Magpie books, and I'm also missing the Anthologies. Time to go shopping !

    Some of your readers can be patting themselves on their backs for various clever comments on this chapter, but you did a great job in reacting to their guesses. All will be revealed in due course, LOL. Kellar did ask most of the important questions, but not even Miss Sybil can tell him how to convince a stubborn Tobyn.

    I couldn't agree more. It's one of the reasons my only attempt at fanfic takes place in that trilogy. My second favorite is Brightly Burning. I only have 23 Valdemar books, so I'm wondering which ones I'm missing. Maybe time to visit Amazon...

    I'm still waiting to find out who the other shifter was that Kellar met before Tobyn. Maybe in book 2

    The first two times I read this chapter, I wondered why Kellar saw the chance to mention the shifter mechanic as a golden opportunity. I was surprised he wanted Elinor to come along, but he does like her a lot and it would prevent more of those uncomfortable silences in Tobyn's company. I think the readers who speculated that Elinor might see the connection between her son and Kellar are probably right, but I doubt Kellar has considered this, and he certainly wouldn't expect her to interfere, even if she could tell Tobyn to stop being an idiot. So all in all, throwing the mechanic and a road trip into the story felt strangely abrupt, even if it did postpone the leaving and give Kellar the chance to be dropped off on the way back.

    No matter how exhausted they are, their bodies react to the presence of the other man, be it with excitement or sleep or caring. We already know Tobyn is protective and caring when it comes to his pack, and here we see it in full measure towards the man who saved Adelin's life. If giving up Tobyn as a husband is the price Tilly has to pay for her sister's life, I bet she would pay it without hesitation. The love she feels for her sister shines throughout the chapter and is wonderful to see.

    You know, it's strange to read this chapter and my earlier comment again, because my feelings were different this time. The dread and the pain got to me somehow, like a shadow of impending death hanging like a black cloud over Tilly and Kellar. She fears the loss of her sister, and he fears the loss of the man he has fallen in love with. I don't know why I had this strong reaction, but I'll credit your ability to evoke our emotions and engage our hearts.

    I think in every chapter there has been at least one reader who has mentioned how unique this story is. By the time we get to the end, everybody felt this way, and no wonder. You really did a fantastic job, Batman.

    He, he, good luck with stuffing those unexpected feelings into a box and burying it deep. All your readers saw the writing on the wall, eh? But how it would play out, now that is what keep us riveted.
