Somehow I always thought of "Manic Mondays" as crazy days while ironing out the glitches of life that occur on weekends but can't be fixed till offices etc open on Monday mornings. I did not think it meant the world emerging from weekend snow driving like maniacs. Roads are basically clear, just wet after yesterday's storm, but reason has not yet returned. I am not sure which are worse, the ones traveling 15 to 20 mph over posted limits getting pissed at those of us @ or close to the limit, or the ones crawling along a 50mph limit road @ 25!

I wish your friends comfort.

Glad I am wearing my barn boots

Neither of you have been innocent in a very long time. You might convince me of not guilty, but the good ship Innocence sailed long ago.

Was supposed to take a nice young lady to a show tomorrow. Plan was to take trailer to their barn today so I could sleep till 5 and still be @ their barn for a 7:30 load time. They got about 2" at their place and the show location got almost 4", and they canceled today's portion. We delayed taking the trailer north as long as we could hoping for a definitive answer on showing tomorrow. When they had not canceled by noon I started north. Of course that's when the snow got heavier. What should have been an hour and 15 min drive took just over 2 hours. We get there safe, get turned around in a space really too small to work but I make it work, and we start unhooking. The trainer comes running out hollering wait wait wait. Yup. She has now gotten a text less than 2 min ago canceling tomorrow, and rescheduling for next weekend. Sigh. Trailer pulled back to barn. Think I am going to stop for snacks and barricade myself inside to watch the second wave of snow we are supposed to get tonight into tomorrow and turn my phone off so no one can pester me!

You can say THAT again!

While I totally agree that we need to advocate for ourselves, I had to spend a majority of my squeek for correcting the insurance situation. Honestly, I was so preoccupied with that, I did not realize he only left 2 or 3 followup messages for him to call, or that Doc had not called back. My issue is that the staff from the one office apparently canceled the appointments on their own initiative. When he realized hubby had missed 2 apts he had the lady from the second office call and get hubby in right away.

Things went well @ the Doc today. Says he is at least a month ahead of what he expected healing to take. When he asked why we skipped a week and almost skipped a 2nd, I told him because his peeps canceled us when the insurance crap started. Seems no one told HIM they did that! Was a tad perturbed. More so when he found out I asked for him to call me and he was never given the message.
-
Woooo hoooo! Got a call from the quacks office asking why he missed his apt on the 7th, when will he be coming in? Ummm, because your people canceled us when the insurance went flooey? Let's get you in tomorrow! OK, as long as you know that I THINK I have insurance fixed but cannot confirm that for a minimum of 48 hours according to the most recent health care CSR. She said to hell with them, come in and we will fix him now, fix money later! Then she called back, said she ran the insurance, and everything seemed good to go! I WON! I WON! I WON!
-
Don't quote me, but after 2 weeks, 4 HR reps from the company he retired from, 14 CSR's from the health care company, 10 phone calls during which I got transferred to the "right" person 10 times, and an unknown amount of time on hold where the same ten bars of music burned into my brain over and over, I THINK we have the insurance shit straightened out! Wish me luck!🤞

I can definitely recommend the Toro self propelled snow blower. I can handle it even with a bad back. Get the widest you can conviently store. The little one looked great, but the larger one we got when "shrimp" had issues and we couldn't get parts promptly is soooo much better. Now we are a two machine family and we frequently work together and dig the neighbors out as well.

I have come to a conclusion. Weather geeks can't agree on anything! Not even with themselves. This morning , in the same broadcast, same weather geek, first expounded on global warming, how the average temp has risen. Then he promptly expounded on how cold it is going to be, as much as 5* below ave. Do peeps not understand that if a temp doesn't drop below average, the average WILL rise?

Update time! Hubby's foot is healing well in spite of the crap from the HNS. Doc is impressed with the progress. We got a bundle of bandages that was half of what is needed. By half I mean the gauze pads sent were 2x2" instead of the 4x4's needed. ( the wound is 5" long on top of foot and 6" on the sole. I unfold the 4x4 to get 8×4 and then layer for thickness). The stretch gauze rolls to tie it all up with were 2 yards long instead of the 4 yards I was using 2 of, so now I need 4 rolls to do the same work. Called.the HNS and bypassed this "nurse manager" that has been driving me batty. Spoke with a lovely young lady that speaks English as her FIRST language. Explained the issue and she over rode the "every two weeks" order rule, and sent what I said I needed. They changed him from I V antibiotics to oral, and removed the Pic line so minimal contact with the idiot nurse manager from here. HURRAY!!! But now we have a new glitch. As of Jan 1, his health insurance has been discontinued. No one can say why. Health company says HR for the company he retired from did it, call them. HR says nope, we didn't do that, call the ins co. TWO "work tickets" to fix and 3 weeks later, I am back to square one. Any one got a nice rubber room for me?

Hope you all have a happy and healthy new year.

May you all have a wonderful holiday with family, friends and loved ones.

Well, we gave up waiting on the twit home nurse, got him into my truck and I had just put the truck in gear to head for the doctors apt when she finally showed up, pulling across my drive so we could not pull out. Then she wanted us to " run inside so she can draw blood real quick". No. We are already running late cause you did not show on schedule. Move your car. Pulled it up about 3 feet and parked, still blocking me in, gets out and says "I will be quick" What she did not take into consideration is my 2500 series pick up has plenty of ground clearance, I hopped the curb and drove off, leaving her staring after us dumbfounded. Now Doc says no more IV antibiotics, switch to oral. So no more changing bandage on the Pic line after removal early next week. He is mobile enough to go to the lab for blood work, so I am hoping to get rid of these twits soon!

Sorry I bothered you. I'll shut up now.

My husband is an idiot! Doc is going out of state for the holiday, so moved his appointment up a day rather than have a covering doc see him. This decision was made last Wednesday. I started growling at him to call the idiot home nurse ( I don't trust i can hold my temper) to arrange her visit for a time frame after 10 am. He finally called today. She was not happy with that idea as she had already set her schedule and we were in the 8 to 10 window. The two of them decided to make her apt @ 7:30. Doc is at 8:15. So, assuming twit nurse is on time, minimum 15 minutes for her to do her thing on the computer documenting the visit, another 10 or so to draw blood and change the dressing on the iv port. Counting on my fingers here, that takes us to 7:55 . Then at least 5 min for him to hop (on crutches, he is 0 weight bearing atm) out to the truck, 8 am. 15 minute drive to office. Another 5 to 10 for him to hop into the office. Just how am I supposed to get what adds up to an hours worth of stuff done in 45 minutes??? That is also the day the farrier is scheduled to shoe the horse, so my kid will be handling the barn stuff while I handle getting him everywhere he needs to be.
-
Yes! The twit from the home nurse service finally called to say between 9 and 10 am tomorrow. I will NOT be home when she comes!!! I admit I am being a tad selfish here but I really don't trust I can keep my mouth shut around her.

I am thinking that will be best for coming down, and up with one crutch and the very reinforced banister we beefed up when I had knee surgery a few years back. The landing @ the top would be difficult to get him back up on his feet . Ask how I learned THAT one!

I finally bought my first gift today. Shopping is difficult with him laid up and my daughter living with us again. Have to remember how to hide things without losing them again! Finally got a straight answer out of these two as to whether we are roasting a bird or prime rib for the holiday dinner. They voted beef. Now, I can handle getting the tree, and even haul it up the stairs to the family room. Doing that tomorrow ( since I have a chiropractic scheduled for tomorrow evening.) Timing is everything! If i do something stupid, my regular tune up is right there! The big question is how to get him up a full flight on the crutches. He is NOT what I call coordinated on them!

Try the hot chocolate with a tad (or more) of French Vanilla creamer! Was the perfect cure for the 4 ish inches of white stuff we got.

Did any one ever notice that the undesirable weather words frequently have four letters? I was always told "polite company" doesn't use four letter words. So, for your information there is currently cold white shit falling from the sky.

Unfortunately I am stuck with them. I have a call into both my primary and secondary insurance companies to confirm or refute what this dizzy bitch said yesterday that if I don't comply coverage will be reduced. Good! Don't cover the twits. Then they will go away! But we go thru a light ton of bandages a week, so I need to keep coverages at the max, at least till I cut all the red tape and get his temp disability income coming in. Right now we have been without a paycheck since early November. I'm not much of a cryer, but right now that's about all I want to do. I'm usually the get it done, what ever it takes one in the crowd. 15 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I dealt, got it done and have been pronounced cured. I have cried more in the last week than I did all thru surgery, chemo and radiation therapy. My plan for today is to avoid the whole game and stay out of the house till after the bitch has been and gone. I have sworn him to his best behaviors, that if he does something stupid while home alone and gets hurt I will beat him to death with his own crutch. If Wings reaches out for help with bail money, please be supportive and point her to a good bondsman.

OK, that is it! These home nurse support people can go fuck themselves sideways! My diabetic husband ignored a sore he developed on his foot resulting in losing 3 toes. Came home from hospital Thursday before Thanksgiving. Has a pic line thru which I administer IV antibiotic daily and clean and pack the wound daily as well. Home nurse service comes once a week to keep the Pic line functional and take blood work. Wound care center once a week for debridement and for Doc to monitor progress. Day after Thanksgiving I was told to expect a nurse to evaluate, rebandage and generally support. Sit around all day waiting, having turned down an invite to a friend's who offered her recliner for him and early dinner, giving me a majority of a day off. Nurse no showed, no call. Regular Tuesday nurse lectures me on the "proper" way to bandage a foot, informs me a wound care nurse will now be here 2x a week in addition to her and the regular trips to the doctor. Made it sound like I am not capable of doing a decent bandage. Mine are neat, sufficient to prevent seepage, and stay put. Hers had to be redone by bedtime. Told to expect a nurse Friday. Friday comes, no nurse, no phone call. This is the 2nd day wasted waiting on a no show nurse. About 3:30 pm I call the office to ask when this twit is going to show. Get told not scheduled till Saturday. I tell them this is rude, disrespectful, and just plain unprofessional. We tell them what to do with their wound care visit and I change the bandage. Set about our Saturday errands and the like, modified to allow for his current limitations. Get a call mid day. Wound care nurse is @ the house, where is he? I give them a not very polite earful about how they are supposed to be helping put our lives back together, not disrupting my schedule. I have a business to run. The least they can do is give me a clue when they will be here. Today we get a call apologizing profusely. I stress to the department manager expecting us to drop everything to suit them was not going to happen. I need sufficient notice of their planned visits to adjust my day accordingly. 8:45 pm, we get a terse phone call that the nurse will be here between 11 and 12 tomorrow. Not "does that work for you?" More like make it work. So, now I have to leave him here alone while I keep the business running, to "make it work". Any one need a steam generator? Got lots of steam coming out my ears.
